What would this home cost you in your area, state, province, country?

We are entertaining a move.... Love to know what this home with view would cost you in your Country or STATE....What would you pay for something like this....add your amount in your currency and I will do the conversion..?

We are leaning towards a Cape Cod style in a rural area that will require a bit of work...
(by the way it is move in ready, we would just want to add a few things)
it is surrounded by forests/woods and  we would begin with renovating the kitchen,
the rest of the home we love....so much character. ( now this is one of a few choices )

The property sits on a little over an acre of land...

This is the kitchen we have in mind... love the bench seat, square style...
this will be our future kitchen ( no matter which home we choose) ...
The only change is removing hood and stove
top from the  island and moving it to the coffee station on left.

This is the layout of their kitchen at the moment...
although it is quaint and certainly homey....
I would prefer all white kitchen and have already spoken to cabinet makers
in the area... My all white square kitchen can be done!

The dining room is fairly large so we are thinking of
adding the new kitchen here
and turning the kitchen into a parlor...

This would be right off the parlor an enclosed porch....love all those windows.

This is from the front door, a very inviting home...
with a beautiful staircase and molding.

The living room would be repainted and cabinets designed
on both sides of the stone fireplace....

There are 3 bedrooms  and 2 large bathrooms.
and this room with built in's it would make a perfect studio
all painted white and yellow and white gingham walls.

There is a basement for storage and work shed....
Square footage around 2200 square feet!

The owner is an accomplished carpenter....love the detail in this room.
 not the colour
but that is an easy change.

So love this staircase and view from front door to the back of the house.

Wrap around porch makes this an ideal setting and the view is spectacular.
We are heading out there soon and everything we will be looking at will be compared to this...
We both love Cape Cod style.

This is the back of the house....

We have seen many homes but I always return to this style..

So tell me ladies, what would this house be worth in your country
with land and view....?

Meanwhile, I am working on some hand quilting.
will show you pics later today...
it is pretty dark...

p.s I will share what this house costs
after you tell me what it would be selling in your area...

Your feedback has been so appreciated, what I have come to know is where ever WE are- we are HOME.  On one of the walls in our home is this message..BREATH....you're HOME!

No matter how large or small your home, land or no land, if YOU are there- it is HOME. We still all are some of the most fortunate in the world. We can turn on taps, we can open fridges, we can turn on the heat or a/c....Thank you for your notes...

  1. Here in my area of NJ I am guessing that the price would be close to $400,000. There might be areas further south of us where the prices are cheaper....but my part of NJ is not.

    1. Hello Sherry, NJ ok, got that ..the price sounds good... It will be very interesting to hear the range in $$...thanks for your input

    2. In my area of central NJ (near Princeton), you'd be lucky to get that home for less than $800,000, and probably not on that much land!

    3. HI Betty, NJ yes those are prices I am familiar with...and yes even around here a lot of land goes for 350,000 and acre would be over a million without any structure/home on it...thanks for your note..

  2. Hard to hazzard a guess at the price here, but I am told that my area in Northern Indiana is one of the most economical areas to live. My sister sold her house in Chicago and paid cash for a house across the street and still had a few hundred thou so save.

I think the house is lovely. But I wonder how old you are? What I see is stairs...lots of them. Starting at about 55 stairs became more difficult to navigate. I definitely would not want a home that had stairs to climb every day.

    1. Hi Carol, so in N.I. what is considered economical for this...? and stairs, well we have stairs now in a bungalow and we are still young enough to manage them, that is not a concern for us as we are in pretty good shape ... I am up and down the stairs at least 100 x per day... Thanks for your input too.

  3. 700,000 - 1 mil unless it's out in the country than probably 500,000. I'm in southern ca. That home is very nice with all that space.

    1. HI Kim, so in Ca, this is the price...and yes considering on an acre, that sounds reasonable...in our area, a home like this would be a bit about the same...This home is not near us though...will share that soon.. And yes this home is a nice size, I love the closed off rooms...we live in open concept but now lean towards smaller rooms for comfort...thanks for your note...

  4. This looks lovely! In Northwestern Illinois, houses aren't selling fast. When they do sell, people are not getting what they are worth - many are selling for less than they paid 10 years ago. This might bring $125,000 but possibly less. Our cost of living is quite low so things don't cost as much and jobs don't pay as much. People from Chicago move here think they have hit the jackpot - they have!. It's very rural here and a great place to live. ~Jeanne

  5. What a lovely house! My boyfriend and I are also planning on building a house, that is why I have a pretty recent overview on what houses cost. I live in Potsdam, Germany, close to Berlin. A house like this I guesstimate at around 750,000 Euro, so that's around 850,000 dollar. Oddly, building a new one turns out to be roughly the same or a bit cheaper than buying "second hand"... Good luck with the house :-)

  6. Hi Samm,
such a pretty house. I did not check up to now that you are going to move.
It is very interesting to read the prices (so different) of this little gem.
Here in Austria the prices of a house are very much depending on where the house is situated. Sometimes the land where it sits on is more expensive than the house.

I am curious to hear more about your house hunging!

  7. South Carolina...not likely to find this stylr home here, especially with a full basement...however, a few years back, before we bought our farm, we looked at a 2000sqft brick home with full finished basement of same size, on three acres and the asking price was 159,000. Was not a super old home, quilte similar in condition and "datedness" of the cape above. We ultimately went with a smaller home that had no basement but much more land...which was more important to us than the home.

The flat we live in is around ₹10 million, it is 2200 sq ft and the area we lived earlier it was around ₹10.6 million. An independent house is further expensive. The costliest place in India is Mumbai, it might be 10times expensive than my city. I am comparing with good areas to live.

    2. Yes, around 160,000 usd, but that's the value of a flat in a multi-storey. Not sure how many years before you visited but Hyderabad is more of IT hub now so there are migrants from all over the country. The regional people here have land and gold (huge amounts) investments. And those( mostly middle class farmers) who sold their land to software companies, to build large office spaces, are very very rich now

  14. Prices in the Texas hill country are really varied. The lowest cost per acre is about $8,000 and goes up from there depending on many, many factors. The price of a house starts at about $125 -$150 per square foot and can be a LOT more or a lot less, depending on the location, quality of materials, whether it has high end or low end appliances, etc. Overall, you can find a house pretty inexpensively here compared to many places. Views are also all over the board. Some here are river front, some are hill top, and some look out over ranch land. No forests in the hill country, but there are areas with a lot of trees. The house you have shown, without the upgrades, and with the four acres, could cost about $360,000 - $375,000. I saw a little house listed here for under $100,000 a year ago. Another, not much bigger, for almost a million. Too many variables to give a good estimate. This is a fantastic place to live, though! My little town of Kerrville is a retirement area. No bad traffic, mild weather except for some hot weeks in the summer, and a beautiful park along the river with almost 10 miles of walking trails beside the water.
How exciting, though, to be looking and planning such a fun change!

    1. I can't even imagine $8.000 for an acre Linda...around here an acres goes for almost 1 million dollar where we live presently.. and yes many variables..this house we are liking has been constructed well...they are the original owners, they have looked after this home...yes we will be moving to a very rural area with many retirees lol.. loved your note..

  15. Quick question Samm.....What material is the exterior of the house?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sylvia, it may be aluminum siding...will have to look at the listing but based on where it is and the weather I would think it id very good material..

      Delete
  16. Samm, given that it's aluminum siding on a 2200 sq, ft. house with a basement, on an acre of land, here in our area of the Chicago suburbs, it would probably go for between $$150 to $160 thousand. Prices are not what they were and 3 car garage homes, 2800 to over 3000 sq. ft. brick and cedar exterior with full basements are going for around $300.000, and that is less than what the owners paid for them initially.

Your new home (?) is adorable, cozy, welcoming, well taken care of and when you and David make it your own, it will be beautiful, with a kitchen to die for. That kitchen is amazing and I love the black and white.

    Hugs to you both.

    1. Ok, Sylvia...the state of IL certainly has some pretty low prices..this is so surprising to me. Now we have not purchased this one yet...we are still looking but this one is on the top of my list ....that white kitchen will go in somewhere...that is for certain..hugs xx

  18. I live in Northern Virginia, 35 miles west of the Cesspool (Washington DC)
Out here on an acre of property, that house would easily go for $600K because land is precious. Now inside the Washington Beltway, Arlington Virginia for instance, the property would be worth close to $800K.
It is mostly the land for us here in Northern Virginia.
There is an old split level house down the road from our neighborhood, on about 4 acres of land. The owners lived in it for 20 years but the house was built in 1966, They sold it in 2014 for $565K, an old house, no improvements made before the sale. That house is worth about a million. It is the land the house sits on. The people that bought the house, stepped into a gold mine. They should just wait it out a few more years and there will be offers I am sure.

    Have fun dreaming.
Hubbs and I are thinking of moving out of our house and renting a jaunty detached row house, just one year old at One Loudoun, a snazz new neighborhood right down the road. I live in a rural community with population of around 300 and there is a similar property for sale here listed at $140,000, but it doesn't have quite as much land. In the suburbs of Chicago, where my sister lives, the property would be no less than $600,000, but probably closer to 1 million.
