What no gingham on the DECK?????? Chair update...

How I feel about well you know....
You know I love GINGHAM....sure you do...why else would you check
out this post?  You must love gingham too, don't you ?
even a little?

WElllllllll, I love to PAINT, no really LOVE IT...
any excuse to bring out cans, or brushes or spray cans....
I am a willing participant.

I was looking at our outdoor patio set which we have had
for what seems decades...15-18 years anyway...
It has been brown, turquoise, red, all black, taupe, all white..
and now a checkered pattern, much like yessss you have
it on the tip of your tongue..
GINGHAM...

I first cleaned it all up, waited for it to dry, which took
all of 3 minutes...it is so HOT here...
Sprayed it with Tremclad/Rust-o-leum  flat white....
waited about 4 hours...even though it was dry to touch,
if you are adding tape, you best be sure it is CURED...
Tape it down....and spay again...
and Gloss Black...
Wait another 4 hours..and peel off tape..
VOILA....

It is like having a tablecloth, but NOT....ok, so nothing is on the plates or cups...I was just testing
it for supper tonight...it looks good!

I was joking ....ok maybe I wasn't at all..
but I said to David last night, I was thinking of staining the deck in the fall
in a GINGHAM pattern..
There was silence...never good...

He then said... " Sparky, I will eat off gingham, sleep with gingham
but I don't want to walk on gingham..."

And then he laughed....and winked..

Not sure what that means....we will wait till fall..

In the meantime, he has been busy building..
he is quite good with designs and cutting wood...
He made this bench box this weekend..
It looks like cedar but it is not...just a new pressure treated wood,
in the fall I will stain it the same as the deck..

We put the grill inside here and it makes for a great bench
to sit on...I have not made any gingham cushions yet..
but give me a week to do that....

Cheerio...it is so hot today and tomorrow..
I may have to revert to just stitching inside...

So keep cool ...! and pssst think Gingham..

UPDATE...

Got the chairs done...now they have to bake or cure in the sun
for a bit....

Now I did these with narrower tape....so it would look
fitting in a smaller scale...
Took all of 1 hour....lol
and only 1 can of Tremclad...cost $8.00

Doesn't this remind you of the old web chairs...?
well they aren't  of course as they are wrought iron
-they will still need some cushions...so I will work on them later...

It is just wayyyyy too hot to be outside for anymore time
than necessary, close to 100 degrees here today..

Maybe I should get some GREEN paint and paint our
dormant GRASS....

mmmmmm

  5. YES! Gingham table is just right for your al fresco dining. Paint is such a marvelous way to change up most anything. Lovely day here but so terribly dry with extreme fire danger.

    1. Good Morning Sherry, PAINT is one of the cheapest things to decorate, too bad we can't just paint ourselves , wait I have done that ...lol. Ohhh be safe , do pray no fires come near you....we have been hearing about how many there have been...we are in a no fire zone right now ....it is so dry...

  7. I definitely love gingham. Your table looks good. I saw the other day that cotton and steel have a new line out they are calling Checkers or something like that, but really it is gingham. Classics may undergo changes, but they never go away. That's why they are classics. You just keep on with the gingham, sweet Samm.

    2. Cotton and Steel are a design collective that design fabrics. The designers have had other successful fabric collections on their own prior to this.

Hmmm.....the metal mesh looks a lot like that plastic canvas that you used to make yarn items from. You could probably weave some plastic through those holes and add flowers or something! Oh my... I need to stop thinking.
