A taste of Spring with Summer in line to drop by...

We are down to the wire...special diets, high carb's, lovely desserts
yes all of these keep my man cycling....( pssst I am exhausted already...)
IN preparation alone, this also will be a full week....

These are the pies I was to make, ended making them into tarts..
same filling for both-  a vanilla bean custard from scratch one with toasted coconut
the other topped with fresh berries with a gelatine cover....
Keeps them fresher longerMade 4 of these trays...

And while drying my berries after a good wash....look what resulted..
BERRY ART....pretty yes ....won't be making anything with it...
it was on paper towels...they will make great compost for my garden....

Speaking of gardens, I ordered some CROWNS of asparagus from a big
asparagus farm....they look like seaweed tentacles....welllll
they are buried now with mulch on top and they will be harvested
next year.....they will spend the summer doing what they do....lol

Meanwhile upon our deck, our petunias are enjoying the morning sun..
they are so much like delicate lace petals...my fav annual summer flower....
We have them everywhere....

Ohhhh and the riot boys are not to pleased about staying in today...
David is out on a company golf tournament so we will be in
to clean a bit and do up some lists for the week...

Each night we let them out for a bit with constant supervision
and they are getting better at coming when told..
They do not want to be grounded AGAIN!

Tomorrow I will be transitioning..( new term for leaving a home behind lol)
very good friends of my parents
into a retirement home....They are 87 and 82 and I have known them
my entire life....they don't live far from us so they count on
me for a lot of support.. So I found them a lovely
final home...where they will be surrounded by the most amazing people..
They will have an apartment but everything is looked after for them...
entertainment, trips to doctors, hair appt, all meals are gourmet...
Ohhh my they will love Atria Retirement...they are all around the world
and really the very best place for a couple who still have their health,
they are just slowing down...( finally)
So I will be busy all day with them.....
and will miss the snow in our garden....
All the viburnums are dropping their petals like
a snow covering....
This week we will be pulling the hundreds of buds off their branches...

Next opening will be daisies, peonies and our cosmos....we will have white
blossoms for the rest of the summer...

It has been such a beautiful spring and summer right around the corner..
We are ready for it...

Cori is teaching tonight ....Paper Ladies...I sent her some of
the photos as she is teaching the x-stitch way we do it....

I forgot how beautiful they are...

Here is June.....

We are going to start another collection...stay tuned..
we are both ready to get back to stitching.....
Enjoy the moments, there are so many to embrace...xx

Cheerio...time for some brunch!

  2. Your post these days... they are always making me hungry..lol. The tarts look wonderful. I am sure to expect more hunger pains because everything you make looks fabulous. Those boys of yours are spoiled with beautiful treats AND fresh from the garden too. What lucky guys.(Your teenagers sure look like the would rather be IN the garden.) You sure know how to set the bar high.... and that is what I love most about you. x Looking forward to another amazing collection of ladies. I do have a few ideas....but lets get you past this week of incredibly inspiring devotion to that man of yours. May you have enough energy to match that amazing heart. xx

  4. You do stay busy with lots of amazing adventures. I love your white blossoms. My mock orange bushes really outdid themselves this year (since we fenced the deer out). I like the term "transition" for your special couple. We do have Atria here. Summer Sunshine Smiles Dear...
