Do you remember this? A kiss is just a kiss....

Remember this couple...* below in colour....
It was a contest by a well known fabric manufacturer
- using solids....Cori and I worked on this mini quilt together
we were so excited as it was so perfectly appliqued, stitched and quilted
and it was a perfect square...Well we came in LAST....

No honourable mention, no accolades....we were devastated...
but we got over it in a few minutes...

As I had this LIGHT BULB moment....I wanted to enlarge
this into a lap quilt....a very large square , whereby
I could then turn it into a custom duvet for our loungers...

WELLLLLLLLLLLL, look what I picked up today at the border
as I was mailing off her Paper Ladies quilt...

Cori made this into a NEGATIVE of our Always Couple.....
it is stunning....over 300 pieces she tells me....

I am going to rest my fingers for the next few days and then
I will embroider her lips RED....and mark the quilt and get ready
to cross hatch the top through double batting and I will add
black and white gingham back ( RBD of course) ....with a button side to slip
a custom duvet inside......

I have enough black too to do a border...but I wanted to wait
till David came home to see how large to make it so we can both
squeeze together in the cold months ahead...

I could not be more excited than I am today....this is soooooooooo beautiful...
The small quilt I will turn into a pillow to go with this
an ALWAYS remember of a wonderful delightful journey
with 2 special people in my life...

So besides a couple other projects that require our attention
this is what I will be busy at this summer...I want to savour
every delicious stitch...

Her Paper Ladies will arrive on MONDAY of next week...!

We really are an event for Quilters...
A Paper Ladies Relay Team of 2..... just imagine if there were more of us?

Our Paper Ladies quilt is now quilted....
I feel like Cori and I are in an Olympic event....
The baton is now passed back to her and she will now
add the ruffles and binding....

I picked it up last Wednesday and here it is Thursday...
I thought of nothing else but quilting this every morning-noon-night!

I have loved quilting it!

There is so much detail in every paper lady that Cori appliquéd and embroidered
it brings tears to my eyes lol...

It really is a story of what happened in 2015- what a year it was!

Ohhh and I add an OOOOPS moment when I pulled a knot through a piece of fabric
and ripped it in a nice V....I did try to fix it but even with some pretty fine
stitches I could not repair it....So I called Cori and said " I cut it out so please send
me a piece of fabric" She was so good about it, every one has at least one OOOPS per quilt...
So I waited and waited but no fabric came...she forgot to send it....
So I am sending it back to her so she can fix that wee spot...

I would have waited even longer....but she wants to complete it with ruffles...
so it is going out tomorrow....and she is going to fix my boo-boo.

She will wash it too after it all completed and all those blue lines will vanish!

I love PUFFY Quilts..... in fact as of tomorrow, I will be doing yet another
QUILT....another all hand quilted that I will then turn into a duvet cover...

I have not seen it, but I am picking it up tomorrow and it is a PAPER LADIES THEME
full blown in GINGHAM! yep.....Gingham.... I am already smiling as I know I will
love it love it love it....

All done by Cori, I am so excited...so goodbye Paper Ladies Quilt...
I have loved working on you..
There is a new Paper Ladies Quilt calling me...

The riot boys are so funny...they both lie lay above my head at my stitching station...
These were some of their looks as they were watching me..

Monchat has so many cute looks...like he is so concerned...shows his personality so much..
Sumo...welllllll he could care less...everything is about HIM....and we love every hair
on his cute furry body ....

Next week, we have 2 patterns coming out...
A Paper Ladies.Eye Glass Case and a Paper Ladies Ottoman!

We have been very busy behind the scenes....so after 6.5 days hand quilting...
I am ready for our next project...

by the way can you believe tomorrow is FRIDAY AGAIN!

  6. It looks beautiful Mdm Samm. You must be so happy to have finished it and know how happy Cori will be especially after the disappointment of the first lot of quilting. You have made someone very happy - what a lovely thing to do! The boys expressions are priceless....

  10. There is nothing that makes this quilt more special than the fact that YOU quilted it! What an absolute treasure it is to me, especially because it represents our year. A whole year of stitching the ladies, but it is most treasured because of all the memories of YOU that was stitched into every little square of this beauty. It is priceless to me for more reasons than I can count. I am always one known to be practical... but, this is the only quilt I have ever thought.... NO ONE is going to touch it!...lol. This is the one I will put away and pull out on special occasions when I need an extra bit of love to wrap around me. This is the one that will make me cry every time I see it because I will think of you. This is the treasure that everyone wants from a friend like you. This is what LOVE looks like... thank you from my whole heart. You are loved so very much my friend. xx
P.S.... that is the cutest picture of Monchat... could you package him up in a box and send him to me too??? ....and make sure you put Sumo in ... we wouldn't want him to get lonely.

    1. ahhhh well I hope you love it as much as I.....the quilting part that is...I so enjoyed all 92 hours of hand quilting..that is all....I actually thought it would take longer, but I so enjoyed doing it...I would not even have my first coffee and I would be hand quilting it and late at night, I would wait till I just could not see anymore lol...and I loved it even more than...cause I knew I would get up and return to it....I can't say I have ever done such a large quilt in less than a week before lol. I hope it never makes you cry....it really is beautiful...and my boys certainly loved the view from my shoulder...I asked them about leaving....they said..." that will not work for us" lol

I think I forgot to embroider a few things looking at the two of them there together. I am sure you will have it fixed in no time. Put your twist on it.... and I KNEW I should have done those lips in red! Ahhh well, I know you will make it even more beautiful. You have such a great eye for it. x

It makes me happy to know that you are enjoying yourself working on long distance projects.
It might be prudent to look into investing in a drone to manage all of this travel of creative projects!
    Happy Week-end

    1. Hello Geta...few call me by Samantha...so I always know it is you....shhhh, I know what I will do...stitch in the ditch around each square and cross hatching in the background of the couple and then hand stitching all around the seams of the Master and Madame..., I can see it in my mind, so I know it will perfect...i am choosing a large black border....I will cross hatch that too and back it with black and white gingham ...that part won't be quilted as I am making it as a giant duvet cover.....and then I will make a custom size duvet to fit it...
So yes magic, maybe not...but lot's of stitching...oh yes....
