I have at least "SPRUNG" into action in my studio...

Love it when my "SPRING" finds me again...as in springing up with new patterns. I can't seem to stop now making these new eye glass cases. I do have quite a few pairs of glasses...Listen, some collect shoes and or bags, some collect jewellery.....my thing is GLASSES....Don't even ask me how many pairs, as I have no idea....I have reading glasses, eyeglasses and sunglasses...

Ever since Sally Field came out with her new movie " My name is Doris" and she was wearing "cat's eye glasses" I thought "hey, I don't have a pair of those"....So I ordered these and some sunglasses to match...

David gets so miffed with me, as there is not a shape of glasses I cannot get away with...Even these
he liked on me....

So I stitched up these glasses with my lips on linen, ( designed some fabric too, it is not here yet)
but it looks like this except on a small scale...You will see, I will make up another eye glass case when it arrives..  I quilted it and it is a perfect for these glasses...in fact there is a pocket inside
that will hold my sunglasses too...

So that is what I am up to today...Still have not completed writing the pattern, I think I will make ONE more ....to iron out any mistakes I have may have made...but I have not made any...it is coming out perfectly...as I can SEE lol.

Oh, I ordered one of the Vivian Maier's books, it just arrived. Can I say it does not disappoint. I think I will frame some of the photos inside for a project down the road...

And the boys are cat napping by the garage door and staircase...seems a boot rack is a comfortable napping station and Monchat is never too far away...They just make me tear...they are so sweet..

Can I just add here, we have cat beds in every room of our home, we have a cat tower,
we have a lovely window bench, comfortable places .....but they have to sit by the garage door
on a boot rack....lol

cheerio!

I spent most of the day in my Studio yesterday with some relished company.
Seems our APRIL is not very SPRINGY, in fact downright cold...as in snow...
We woke yesterday to more snow it seems than we had all winter...

So what is one to do?...
THINK SPRING AND SUMMER...
which I did...I have been working on an Eye Glass case for months now....
I first came out with the Poppy eye glass case, but turning it into a pattern
was just so complicated...and it was too large, great for 5-6 pairs of glasses..

So I kept working on it and finally came up with a nice design
that will be easier to stitch up...

Recap of what I first designed, one for me and Cori..then made one for Mary's birthday...
These are all OOAK....going to put this pattern on the back burner...
for a simpler one like the first photo...

As you can see, I had some company to assist me...although they seem to be
entertained more of what was on my table, than anything else..

This is my vintage pinking machine...don't know how I ever functioned
without it...it is amazing for pinking edges..Sumo was quite interested in this
novel attachment. lol

I love this photo of Monchat..."YOU ARE NOT going to CUT this fabric are you"
or something like that....lol

I used the border for the NEW EYE GLASS pouch..

Here is another I had made out of the old pattern, that will be perfect for all of my
readers at my sewing chair in our parlour...
I had just enough fabric that is my valences over the french doors..

Monchat nesting on my table of my sewing machine, just peeking in...
Gosh he is a looker lol

Sumo gave us another scare yesterday....his heart was beating out of his chest
after getting sick...I think it scared him, I held him for 15 minutes, till his
heart rested...He spent the rest of the day, napping...
We worry about this wee fellow so much... He really teaches us to enjoy
every moment...which we do!

So hard to believe he is not 100%. He is still not as PINK as he should be...
his nose has become a barometer of his condition...

Today I will be working on this pattern, with no doubt my helpers at bay...
It is just too cold to wander anywhere...look at this snapshot of our deck rockers...

Hard to believe but there is even more outside this am....

So I will think SPRING and SUMMER and go do more
stitchings...that will no doubt warm my soul.

ps. SYLVIA ANDERSON, send me a note

  6. Samm, I am crazy nuts for your eyeglass case, and that fabric is to die for! Would you mind sharing the name and manufacturer with us. You are so freaking talented, I can't stand it. Everything you take on, comes out beautiful, just like you, and I applaud you for that. Every day, as I read your blog, I realize what a beautiful person you are, talented, kind, thoughtful, caring, intelligent, loving,.....you can stop me at any time. lol Seriously, you are that rare human being, beauty from within as well as on the outside. We too have had snow in the Chicago area, which really is not too unusual, but after being teased with much warmer tamps for awhile, we are now back to some below freezing temperatures, and we are so ready for Spring to settle in. Hugs and love to you all, especially those beautiful boys.

    1. Now STOP THAT lol-- seriously your note touched my soul, thank you sweet Sylvia...
and regarding fabric I got it from Belleboofabrics.com they are in Bangkok, I did purchase from them say 3-4 years ago. The fabric does not say anything but Belleboo on the selvage, but it does have chocolate covered strawberries but in the centre and the borders on WOF is the bows and dots.....check out their fabrics, they do have berries but not this one, but they do have the prettiest florals on borders like this.... I have a couple yards, if you cannot find some, I am sure I can part with a bit especially if you were making an eye glass pouch too...just saying....still working on pattern I took a lot of photos...this one looks easy but has many steps...again thanks for making my afternoon..

  7. P.S., Regarding the fabric, I was referring to the B&W with strawberries.

  9. It's definitely spring here Samm - in fact I worked in the herb beds this afternoon for a while. We've had a lot of rain so the ground was soft enough to pull weeds easily. Your latest eyeglass case is adorable - but you'll need a few more :) to take care of your collection of eyeglasses! blessings, marlene

  10. Your cold weather must have put in a call to mine...it was so beautiful today, and now a cold chill is in the air tonight. I usually really like springtime snow, because it melts so quickly, but I am afraid yours looks a lot like winter...lol. Hopefully spring will find you soon.

LOVE your eyeglass case, that fabric is so pretty! It is the kind of fabric you have a hard time cutting into, but the case...it is to die for. Just gorgeous. Love the new design and I can't wait to make one. I can't imagine one as pretty as yours though. It is perfection.

Your pictures of the boys are always so beautiful. That picture of Monchat melts my heart... and sweet Sumo, well he is just a little treasure. I am so glad you take so many pictures of them, because I think it is so sweet that you share them with us. xx

And the riot boys...I always think I got the perfect shot of them, and then Cori, I get another one or two...They are a delight as subjects and such a treat to my heart... I hardly believe I get another day with them x
