Pinking up after a scare...

We had a little scare on Tuesday, although Sumo came through his surgery ok, his wonderful vet wanted him on meds for a couple days to ease any discomfort he may have...
Again he was fine...but then I noted his wee nose had gotten very pale... I checked on him in the am, and he looked like he was going to faint... me too ....:)

As you can see, he just did not look right -
so I sent some photos to his vet and on his day off he checked in
with a couple calls to see how he was...We are so happy we went with Dr Bill Davis,
he is such an asset to his profession along with his caring staff.

He assured me since his heart rate was very good and respirations were normal.
he is fine...had his heart rate escalated that would of meant he is in distress.
...
We still are not sure why he lost his color, could be a drop in blood pressure
from the meds, or that he was sleeping so much since his surgery. Again he does
have a hole in his heart, so it may have taken a few days to get his metabolism back to normal..

So yesterday,  I took our Riot boys outside, and just followed them with the camera
as they explored...I noted Sumo's color came back....he may of just needed some fresh air...
his nose is a blush pink again...

He acted more like his normal self - chasing Monchat up and down the stairs, playing with
their toys and cuddling every chance he got. It is always the elephant in the room...
I am the typical worried Mumm, making sure he does not overdo it...

Funny how he knows enough is enough...Monchat was flipping with one of his toys
this evening...and Sumo just watched...he knows his limitations...

Sumo never wanders to far, constantly checking to see where I am...
on the other hand Monchat is my nature explorer, he wants to smell everything...
I was chasing them back and forth trying to keep them together...
Sumo acting like a Gopher, he had seen a bird on our lawn, and was trying to
get Monchats attention...
( this is my wired dress that had fallen in the garden...in the summer
it will be full of climbing vines)

Sumo was very still here, thinking I could not see him....in a few more weeks that may
be true...but I could see him lol funny little boy lol.

David was back to work, so I was on my own..talk about a workout...

I love this photo of Sumo exploring in the ivy and coming out from a drainage stone
in our garden..

Monchat on a mission, he totally ignores me when outside..
"Like I have things to explore NOW".... or something like that...

It will be nice to see how green our grass is in a week or two...just coming back to life now...

They really are great teachers... they teach me to enjoy every moment, show love in every way you can and never take anything for granted...

Monchat is beginning to look so mature....away from his wee kitten look, remember...
this was when he was 3 weeks old....now he is a couple days shy of 6 months old.

This was his look, when I said, " We have to go in boys!!!"
He looks so FIERCE!

I did not get a lot of my own stuff done, but that is fine....
all that can wait...

In the meantime, I have enjoyed all of my tulips waking up
to spring, it is still cool for end of March but within a month
our outside will come into blossom and that is a season
I do not want to miss.

So many more days to explore our season....

Today I will try to finish my sleepover pillowcase
called SOAP OPERA....wink...

  6. I'm glad he's better-what a scare indeed. We just had our li'l feral cat spayed. She's in a crate in our house recovering. They said she should be calm but she's doing somersaults and flips in her litter box. I give her pain meds but with all that activity I doubt she's having much pain. I'm allergic to cats and she lives in our heated garage with 3 other feral cats. She's not happy about being caged. Is it true cats have 24 whiskers on each side of their face (including eyebrows).....my feral cats won't stay still enough to let me count. LOL

  7. Sumo...he looks so miserable in that picture. I am glad he is better. It is so amazing to see the pictures you capture of these boys. They are so telling. You teach me so much about enjoying the little moments, and because you find joy so much joy in the simplest of things, you have so much more joy to share. Thank you for a little glimpse into your blossoming relationship with these boys. It is beautiful to watch. xx
P.S.... I have to get my soap opera started too, and I can't wait to see yours! Almost finished with this secret project. *wink

but he and Monchat have been playing since mid morning...and they only stop to get some nibbles of dry food..and they are off again lol. It has been a great few months...nothing like some young ones to keep you young lol...and yes soap opera, back at it.

  9. it was so much fun seeing your beautiful boys having fun outside, knowing that all is ok with Sumo. They may be animals, but our feelings for them are the same as if they walked on 2 legs. Regarding the work that didn't get done, there is always tomorrow, or the next day and so on. Our children and pets are with us for such a short time, and being with them and doing for them,is way more important than getting some silly old housework done, or anything else we have to do! Hugs to you all.

    1. NOW who said about housework.???.OH NO --that is done lol....just not my sewing..you , Sylvia you make me laugh... I do hear you though, I love being with them, when I hear a commotion or when they eat for instance, I sit on the floor and watch them and bask in the moments we all share...they are fascinating to me...Every time I take out the camera and follow them around, they bring out this calmness in me....like I am the only one capturing this moment, BUT then of course I get to share what I see and that makes me happy ... So yes these riot boys have a spirit that can fill a room or at least a blog post...xx They are very much family to me....hard not to love every one of their 24 whiskers as Sue shared...x

  12. The kitty boys are so cute.
Sumo reminds me so much of Pierro.
I know they are little and need so much supervision. The only time you get stuff done and when they finally conk out and take a good nap.
Then you scurry around and get your stuff done lol

    1. Hellooooo Rosemarybhere, ahh hyour Pierro is such a sweetie too...well they are no longer little per say, but little for ragdolls and supervision OMG they are worst than kids, they always do things together except when outside, they want to explore...but thank goodness for cat naps...I tire them out so much, they do sleep for quite awhile lol

  17. How good to read, everything is fine. My sister has an 16 years old cat and he suddenly fall on the site and had an epileptic shaking (sorry, don't know the right word). So, i can imagine about your feelings seeing his nose not as pink as usual. But I'm really happy to see him outside with his friend exploring the world.
    Greetings, Rike
