Refashion - FOOT RESTER! .....and we were in a STEW ! ( riot boys, paper ladies new project)

I have not completed this as of yet, today, I will be sewing it all together, have to say, from a very dull stool, REFASHIONed it with some Buffalo Plaid from Camelot Fabrics.. and it has so much more APPEAL.  Our Riot Boys were not really much help, but they certainly made me chuckle when they were pushing each other out of the circle.

I will be making this Buffalo Plaid stool into a pattern, there are many photos on how you can do this
with such ease when you follow the steps,  I will  also share what other "kitchen things" you can use to make your very own REFASHIONed one of a kind....FOOT RESTER......

NO STAPLES, NO SEWING MACHINE, you can do this all by HAND!
YEP, and I will show you how!

You won't even need any special tools... more pics to follow...as soon as I finish this post, I
am getting some breaky and back to sewing....wait till you see what Cori and I are up to now..
did you see her newest post on her Paper Ladies quilt?....You haven't ...well link here....
OMG!

update on our Riot Boys..

It took 4 visits to 4 different vets for us to find the best for our Riot Boys.. Yesterday we met a  very kind, intelligent and thorough Vet.  ( he reminded me so much of my beloved, he was quick to reach for the kleenex box when I was sharing about Sumatra) Sweet sweet Man!

What we have learned from past dealings with many Vets over the decades of having pets, if you do not trust them with your pet, "what are you doing there".... You are asking them to look after your most precious buddies, you have to trust them. And can I say, you have to like their staff too...they were all exceptional!

This is the first time, I felt a VET was concerned about ME, too,  not overselling me, not charging me for things I did not ask for, not rushing me.... And yes we pay for it, but we were paying plenty in the past too and our pets did not fair well, in fact as many of you know Sumatra suffered her last weeks with us and it cost us thousands of dollars and we still lost her...Gosh I still miss her dearly!

Sumo will require a more detailed and thorough neutering however our faith in this Accredited Animal Hospital and their staff- well suffice  to say our stress will be less...Our hearts are heavy of course, as we cannot imagine the joy of our sweet riot boys without Sumo. He will be neutered in April, so we will keep loving him  in hopes he will be just fine!

Dr Bill's hospital is one of 12 % in Canada and US who has AAHA, it took us awhile to find the best vets, well we found them now, thanks to our Nurse Practitioner in town who recommended this wonderful hospital and staff.
It seems Sumo's heart murmur may have something more to do with a valve or possibly a hole in his heart....we will never know I suppose...but we will love him and cherish for all the time he gives to us...

I was praying our new year would fair out better than this but I have come to realize, we have no power over the events of our lives, only how we deal with them... Perhaps our Riot Boys are teaching us all to stop STEWING about things we have no control over and JUST ENJOY all the SWEET moments they share with us.

I know my days are so full of joy when I tell them how much I LOVE THEM and they reach for me and butt head or kiss my cheek...  They bring smiles and some times tears almost every day..

To love and be loved by these exceptional creatures is GOD's Gift to us all ..

The INGREDIENTS are so simple...

Pour LOVE into them and they DISH out the BEST in return...

  2. Your stool is looking fabulous Samm. Love the ruffles. If there is one thing I have learned from you, it is to enjoy our moments. Good and bad, you are writing your own story each day, so make it a good one! Love reading yours, it is always full of such heart. xx

  4. What a wonderful attitude you have! I agree completely with you.
Your foot rest is so pretty. My sister and I have started gathering supplies for "buffet" that we'll be making at a retreat in a couple of weeks. Yours looks much less complicated!

  5. I have a wonderful vet for my cat - no frills place, but amazing staff and absolutely the best vets. They are honest and caring and don't try to sell you a bill of goods. They took loving care of my older cat as she got sick and they care very well for my old lady at home. Hoping all goes well with your little one

    1. HI Suz, you are so fortunate....it took some doing but we believe we found a great vet too...they are out of town but exactly 11 min away, so we feel quite good about that too...
in a big city, 11 minutes away could be across the street lol

  6. no sewing machine no staples?
Okayyy are we looking at Gorillla Glue? and some clamps?
    haha
Your boys remind me so much of Caesar and Princess when I brought them home
Lizzie and Christina were 4 and 6, and Rex and I used to love the time after we put the girls to bed and watch 2 Cornish Rex kittens leap and jump like little monkeys. They were so adorable. And they got into the nuttiest situations. As you know, we have 18 years of memories of those two. I still miss them, you never get over that. You just learn to live with it.
Your boys will be well taken care of, always remember you are the boss. You can consult, inquire and question, and in the end, the decision is up to you. I am fairly sure l, Sumo will live a long very long happy life and he and Monchat will be a couple of old men one day far into the future
Until then, enjoy the silly fun. Life, walking into the kitchen in the morning and finding yarn strung all over the floor like a huge WEB - Blue yarn. And looking bleary eyed, thinking 'what is this I am looking at?"
or an elmers glue bottle standing straight up, surrounded in a solid white, very artistic looking melted sort of firm substance. Very Salvidor Dali-esque the way the white whatever it was folded there over the edge of the kitchen table.....
Those two were a riot. Many years.
Chrisitna played the violin for 5+ years and there were only two songs Caesar insisted on meowing loudly along with. Rex Cats are very vocal anyway.
Pierro is quiet though. Miles is loud.
    They are like little clowns

    1. What a rewind you painted with your words...I can see your Cornish Rexes, doing all that...18 years is a lot of memories....we do hope we get many years too...but until then we will love them and enjoy them like today was their last day...it is the only way I can wrap myself around all of this...xxx Thanks RosemaryBhere for always bringing a smile to my heart..

    2. and yes most refashion of furniture requires staples...I figured a way of doing it with none of that....and you can use a sewing machine if you don't want to sew by hand the ruffles..but this whole thing can be sewed by hand...
