The Greatest Gift.. bringing Peace to our world. ( monchat update)

Here we are on day 11th of the 12 days of Christmas and our tree won't be up till the weekend, So our sElfie is ready with camera in hand and is perched on her own little tree ready to record
Her sElfie has been very energetic, we are slowing down here
as we have poured so much in the past few weeks, we are running on
fumes wink....and coffee...

Be sure to check with us next Wednesday to see our ornament exchange
linkie party....that is one of my ornaments there...the vintage camera....
so much more to share later....

I get a bit melancholy at this time of year. So many wonderful memories of years gone by all tied up with the heart strings that brings us all together. Many decades ago before my children were even born, I met a homeless lady whose name was Elva. I was working on a participation project for the federal government. I was a nurse who looked after the homeless.  We would monitor them and provide necessary care and report in detail to our government what was happening on the streets. Well Elva was one of my studies, and after a couple months, it was getting colder and near Christmas. There was no doubt on December 19th ...our world would change forever. I came in early that day and I watched from afar knowing I was close to her lunch time. Something happened that changed our life that very moment, call it a divine intervention but I was to be there that very moment....

I went up to her and said " Elva pack up all your things, you are coming home with me". She trusted me, never asked where we were going, just gathered her treasures which fit into one large garbage bag and we packed it into my small sports car and we went to our home. Needless to say, Elva fit in our soon to be family  ( I was pregnant at the time) and for 17 years she cared not only for me but also my children. Even after she got Alzheimers, those 10 years proceeding, I looked after her while she was in the care of nearby nursing home. Every week I visited her and brought her her favourite treats even when she had no idea who I was, but it did not matter as I knew who she was and she had brought so much joy to my life how could I ever walk away. She has been gone now for over a decade and at this time of year ( her fav time) I think back of how enriched both of our lives were....

This commercial made me think about her, what her life was before I entered and how it was when I opened my heart and arms to this wonderful lady.... She was a land Angel, she really was. My Nanny always said to me "you never know when you are looking at the eyes of God, be kind"...  Well I think Elva was exactly where she was supposed to be as you are this very moment....as this commercial just so happen to find me....Yes, we were meant to be all together today. Create memories -you have the power to do all that and more. YOU too can make a difference in someone's life.  This is my wish, that peace will find every boy and girl....that it finds YOU today....

Meanwhile here we are on day 13 with our Sumo....
This was our activities yesterday and this am....

He helped me yesterday in my studio. I don't think he was much into
his Mummy sewing....but he tried to keep up ...

He would rather sit upon my table of my sewing machine...I think that was his way
saying "ENOUGH, play with me" .... so we did.

I was making some draft dodgers for our front doors, I was just sewing up the other end when Sumo decided he would use it to do some teething....

This was taken this am, so we are on day 13 actually, he was pretty miffed that
there was no birds visiting this am on our window bench...

Here is why, this Hawk stayed for over an hour, he is but 10 feet from our window
keeping all birds scarce....He is beautiful though....

Sumo then decided he would pray that today is a good day!. He is so sweet...He is becoming so
independent. Last night he did not want to be in his soft cage by our bed....deciding he was grown up enough to sleep on the tower...at the highest peak no less...He stayed there till 5:30 am ...
He is changing so much in his almost 2 weeks with us....He has been such a blessing....he really has helped to get through this season without our sweet Sumatra...
From a tablespoon of food 2 x a day he is now up to one full can...no wonder he is changing so much.... note his dishes match his eyes....one of our sweet neighbors came over with a couple new M.S. dishes with covers too.. they are so sweet...one for both Sumo and Monchat....they gave us one for T-cup earlier in the year too...x

Well I must run, I have an outfit to make for our Sunday gathering at the club...so toodles...
Let's all pray for a PEACE over the holidays...

p.s just got a MONCHAT update.. we pick up on January 3rd...

  3. Sometimes I feel silly for getting all teary over commercials but some of them just get to me. That is one of them. Sumo looks so cuddly and soft. Would love to bury my nose in all that softness.

    1. Never feel silly to having a heart....I get teary eyed at so many commercials and hallmark films...I suppose one of the nicest things about these messages..they move our hearts so others can feel them too ....and he is so soft...like cotton balls..

Sumo is such a sweet little guy. They are persistent when they get more food and start to feel like powerful wild tigers. He loves his new forever home so much.
Your story about Elva is a treasure. I am so thankful you saved her.
Before kids, our lives were pretty uncomplicated and it was such a wonderful thing to focus completely on our love of nursing and caring for those that really needed help. Everyone deserves to have a good life. All lives matter :-)
Have a delightful week-end dear friend. I hope you get some of this unusually warm weather. It is kind of nice for another chance to clean up the yard and garage in preparation for winter.
    Have fun baking and testing

Sumo is so handsome, as is his little brother Monchat. I can see an expression on Moonchat's face that says-who me? no, must have been my big brother. Happy days ahead.

  8. What a heartwarming story. You are such a great lady to take a homeless woman to your home. I think onky a few of us would have done this too. But sometimes you see someone and know that he or she is a real friend, although you don't know anything about the person. Thanks for sharing your story!
Sumo will be such a huge and proud cat once in a while, you can see it already at one of you fotos. :)

    1. I think if many would have met Elva, their hearts and homes would have opened too. In all the time she was with us ,2 friends actually tried to get her to come with them...she never budged and was very faithful to me, she would tell you her rewards were plenty, she was family right till the day she passed away. Without a doubt both of our lives were enriched....and yes the way Sumo is eating I think he is going to much larger than Sumatra and she was very large...x
