What's cooking? - what's stitching?

We have had a delicious weekend.....Fall is certainly in the air and
my "fall and winter" corner is ready for me....

We picked up 88 pounds of bird seed and our feeders
have been frequented by hundreds of birds already...
( sounds like a lot, but that much seed will be gone in about 6 weeks)

This is where I will be for the next few months,
when I am not looking after kittens that will be here within
weeks now....20 days for Sumo and 42 days till Monchat arrives...
but who is counting wink...

This is a sneak peak of our NOVEMBER Paper LADY....she is a delight
to stitch, I will have her done in a couple more days...I am doing her
apron in blue gingham...and she is holding a PIE, an apple PIE...

But she could be holding some BATHENJANE too.....

This is  smelling up our home today....
It is very easy to make and you would never think a few ingredients
could make such a delicious HOT DIP....

You will need these......EGGPLANTS...just wash and chop..
I even gave you the recipe....

We love Mediteranian foods...Years ago I met the owner
of a very famous chain in Ontario Canada....
He shared the recipe, and although I really liked his Bathenjane...
he deep fried his eggplant, so it was pretty heavy...

I thought I would lighten the recipe and to tell you the truth
DAVID, who loves this dish too, thinks it is much better...
roasted....

All you need is olive oil, salt and pepper and few small cans of tomato paste
and GARLIC, one whole garlic bud minced...

And to dip...get some greek PITA bread....heat it up in the oven...
That will be your supper..trust me it is very filling......

Ohhhhh and T-cup is still enjoying her bed...not even the scent of roasted eggplants
stirs this sweet feline....

Let me know if you ever heard of this recipe or made it..
try it...it is very HEART HEALTHY.....

  1. Your Fall/Winter stitching space is lovely and cozy. Miss November is looking quite stunning. I have never heard of this dip however it sounds delicious. I won't be making it for our home as Mr. C does not like eggplant or tomato based anything. Maybe I could make it and take to a pot luck party. Thank you for sharing the recipe and I would love eating it. T-Cup knows how to enjoy her days.

    1. HI Maria....I think she really is my fav this year lol...eggplant, was not sure if it could be found everywhere? Can you get them all year/

    2. Yes, Samm, we can get them :) Russia has great import of vegetables and fruit from warm countries nearby - Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan... and China, too :) And there are some all-year warm regions in Russia, too. But the price for natural products is higher at winter.

    1. Ahhh Mary Ann, you would be surprised at how little space you need to have a corner somewhere...our window seat was made with some very wide shelving, and some foam and fabric...of course for me gingham...In our last home, I took a closet and added a large piece of wood and made a bed, my little place to escape too...it was that actual space that sold our home...the lady wanted everything as is....it had curtains a little stool to hop in...x

  19. Oh Samm, what an amazing view you can enjoy at your place! How pretty must it be, when all these trees are covered with snow.
How lucky the birds in your garden are, that they have you. We are doing the same here. I love watching the birds at the feeders ...

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

    1. Every season it is beautiful here Hilda, and each one brings something unique....I never sit in my window bench in the summer as we are on the deck...so now, where I am at the moment, I am watching the sun breaking through our day...The birds are already singing their melodies and there is a crisp fall scent rushing into our home..Today I will be finishing up my Nov Paper Lady and listening to some of my itunes....I have put Christmas music on...silly me xx

  21. Recipe sounds tasty to me. I think the roasted sounds better. To me the fried one might the crust might get too mushy once you add the paste. I really like your November paper lady
