Time for a NEW ELF on the Shelf....MEET ELFIE...

I love Christmas traditions....they stir wonderful memories, lot's of laughter, tender sweet moments....
But they also stir creativity for me...

Take for instance this new ELFIE, I was out looking for a "cuter elf" like  Elf on the shelf?
You know the story right? They are scouts for Santa, they check activities, who has been naughty or nice, they hide in all kinds of places, so you never know where they will show up.... They report everything to Santa.....WEllllllllllll all I could find were BOY elves, and some very scary ones out there...they looked more like Halloween characters...and that just would not do....

Cori and I were planning  2016 when we got giggling on how we could  complete our year with some excitement ( besides our Dec, Paper Ladies, ohhhhh wait till you see her) wellllll.....
We got talking about designing an ELF(ie) female one, and we could show HER every day in December on our blogs...She loved the idea....So I designed hers first.... I will be working on mine today...

Ohhhhh you can join us in a linky, if you an ELF or ELFIE, take photos each day or wee in the month of December and show us where he or she was found spying on you.....

You know I am a doll maker right? I have always made dolls ( decades of dolls, hundreds of them in fact)  I start off with one thought and then " THEY TAKE OVER" it is very odd, and hard to explain, but I never know what I will end up until I begin that first stitch... I am thrilled with Elfie -Cori,  I spent the whole week designing her....She has all moveable parts, her arms, legs and even head tilts from both sides....

I did Cori's with green eyes, blond hair and dressed her complete with fur and hat and bells and trim and boots...And really she just came to life each day as I stitched her up.. Each hour we spent together, she would whisper where she would hide and how she would create such excitement for her family. Well, she is being packed up and on Monday, she will travel a wee distance to her new home..

She was going to call her to " you know to tell her I am here"
but we thought against it....wink....

... so the rule for The Elf on the Shelf states, "There's only one rule that you have to follow, so I will come back and be here tomorrow: Please do not touch me. My magic might go, and Santa won't hear all I've seen or I know." Although families are told not to touch their scout elf, they can talk to it and tell it all their Christmas wishes so that it can report back to Santa accurately.

Then she thought she would hide in a Gingham blanket....
( what is a post without something GINGHAM lol)

There are some really nice PERKS
to having a friend who can make dolls lol

She was getting so overheated with ideas, she needed to cool off...
so I put her in our refrigerator for a spell...
David did a a little SHRIEK this morning when he saw her ....lol
He was not expected to be greeted by Elfie-Cori this am....
She is giggling, Elfie-Cori, she is thinking she is pretty darn cute...

Now I am off to make one for me....

Let us know if you would like to JOIN us for DECEMBER...
Where will your ELF (ie) show up...

More details to follow...but really all you need is an Elf ( or Eflie)
a camera and some beautiful shots of where he or she will be spying on you...

  2. How sweet. I have an elf but he's getting a bit old, I've had him for close to 40 years and I'm not sure how long my mother-in-law had him. He still enjoys sitting on the shelf during the holidays.

  9. What a doll! (not sure if I intended that pun or not LOL ) So much nicer than the shelf elves I have seen. I want to play this when my grandson is a bit older. At two years old, I think all he'd want to do is bite her. LOL Great job and looking forward to seeing yours.

  16. I have seen and elf on other North American blogs - tho' your elf is by far the cutest - as I too have only seen boy ones. It is not something we do here on this side of the world. I will watch with interest what fun your elfie-cori gets up to. Smiles!
