Hundreds of Quilts entered and we were the last chosen.....ALWAYS with a SMACK!

take a peak to who we lost to, they are certainly MODERN ....guess we should have done modern lol

But even as LOSERS,  we so enjoyed the journey of bringing
THIS COUPLE to life....

Months ago we got this invitation to enter a  quilt contest...
WE both had so much on our plates, we did not know how we were going to squeeze it in..
But we did....Cori and I did up the design together....
She sketched, I coloured, she appliquéd, I embroidered and quilted...

It really was an ACT of LOVE.... 120 hours +total spent on this!

WE loved it so much, we are enlarging this small quilt
to a lap quilt....It will be our GIFT to each OTHER.

As we ALWAYS seem to be on the same wavelength in creativity...
"ALWAYS " seemed a perfect name for it!

The challenge was to use only solids and of course we had to have
these colours...and gingham, well we both agreed to that...
Every piece of her apron was hand appliquéd....
All those gingham pieces were all individual pieces of fabric...yep...
Cori mastered that with such finesse.

YOU should see it up close...
I also added double quilt batting and hand stitched it all
to poof it out...

The results speak for themselves...

Certainly if we were the last chosen, there had to be quite a few amazing WINNERS that we are looking forward to seeing... We did get asked to enter our piece for the exhibit, but we declined graciously as we will need it to work on our LAP QUILT Design -we will have out before Christmas...or maybe Valentines day wink...

So congrats to all the winners ahead of us....We SMACK you and applaud your creativity! And that is easy for us, since you are all way ahead of us in talent......we will try to do better next time..wink.

As so called LOSERS, we are at the bottom....there is only one way to go now....wink..

The most exciting part of this journey besides working so closely with Cori
was the laughs and tears throughout the whole process...

I have never loved anything MORE...

WE will ALWAYS be united by this couple....

What a JOURNEY.

Thanks to Cori, for sharing the many hours with me...
I smack you tenderly!

that is the lesson here xx
