Bed Tester ....it's a CLASSIC

I was just finishing adding the self covered buttons to tuff it up a bit and T-cup just had to test it...
the fact that she was smacking her lips was a very good sign...lol and her tail was up....another good sign...wink...

I found this great plaid that I was going to make into a flannel nightgown....but then I have enough nightgowns at the moment, so I thought of making a bigger Kitten Bed so both Sumo and Monchat will have  a classic winter bed.... I added black piping and stuffed it with bleached and processed goose down.... It makes sense, kittens like warmth and comfort and even older Kitties do, so it is possible they all may cuddle in it together someday...mmmmmm

It was way too fluffy, so adding the self covered buttons brought it down a bit....

T-cup seems to like it a LOT....she has been purring since she got in....now that is over 2 hours ago lol We are in the studio sewing, Ok, I am stitching she is purring...but we are together...

Now I must complete Apple of my Pie....yes today that is on my agenda.....

    1. Very easy to make Paulette...tidbit, when making the pillow part...keep the seams about 2 inches and sew that to the pads, when turning right side up, the seams are hidden in the pillow part
of the pillow....where they lay....thought that was the AHA moment for me today...it came out perfectly..

  8. What a pretty girl. My Percy was 6 weeks when we got him and I gave him a small little blanket and he pawed it and sucked it until the day he passed...by then it had a few holes but he always had it. Happy days .xx

    1. T-cup is a darling...never likes the camera as much as Sumatra did but today she was quite playful and still in the kitten bed....mmmmmm funny how they get attached to certain things... blankets have never done it for them, although on that note..T-cup has a quilt someone made her that she always sleeps on the back of our lounger...

    2. Oh I looked at your sweet girl and just wished I could pick her up for a cuddle. All I can say is they find their own comfort , I must admit before we collected Percy we had the blanket in Our home, on our laps , on the settee etc to pick up "our" scent, even a little spray of my favourite perfume, so when we had to leave him , somehow he could smell us nearby, ..he never caused any damaged , litter trained in 2 days ..I often wonder if blanket helped to make him feel safe??? Oh I so want another....maybe..one day ..xx in the me time so loving your posts..oh and we are hopefully mice free again honey xx

    3. Ohhhh she is not a cuddle cat...won't even let me hold her..but T-cup is a lap cat on her terms of course...what we so love about her....and yes i like the idea of the scent...I think the reason why she loves the new kitten bed, is my smells are all over it from sewing it....and with her liking the bed, being so large and all I think she will welcome Sumo....ok, we are hoping she will and if not she will ease her way into his heart like she did Sumatra....
You know what is nice about having new kittens coming...is we know we will have to go through this all over again...so a few sad weeks for years of happiness, I think it is a great price regardless of all the fallen tears....ohhh glad to hear you are mice free again wink.x

  9. This cat bed looks just purrfect for your T-cup and new arrivals to get to know each other. What a fabulous job you did on that...looks very professional, but I doubt that a bed you can purchase will be made with as much love and luxury as goose down! What spoiled little kitties you will have.....lol. T-cup looks so happy. xx

    1. HI Sweet Mary Ann, well it is simple..if you saw the steps you could do it too...I saw one from overseas....and from there, just made a duplicate...I added the piping for a bit more detail...and that was already made lol

  24. Where do you get your pet bed patterns, or do you just "wing it" and create as you go? These look so comfy

    Replies
    1. HI Cindy, I was inspired by Pinterest, saw some and then just elaborated on them...so wing it , yep that is what I do....it is a long tube, and a pillow and I just stitched it all together, this one is about 3 feet by 2 feet ....the stuffing really makes a difference...I think that is what makes it so comfy for my t-cup at the moment....

      Delete
    2. Oh, now I get it, thanks so much - long tube/pillow - do you keep it one piece or keep it two and just hand stitch the two together?

      Delete
    3. Cindy, I did it all with a serger, no hand sewing in this..and the tube I stitch it all together....with the pillow- be sure to leave a very wide seam....

  25. Love, love the new red flannel bed....and it looks like T-cup does too!! I was wondering if you would do a simple tutorial on the steps you use to create these comfy kitty beds. I know my two fur babies would love to curl up in one!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hello Angelia...simple tutorial would have been actually easy had I taken photos along the way...but this time I did not....I was not thinking anyone would really be interested lol...a lot has to do with the choice of fabric....and stuffing of course...think, long tube...about 90 inches and a pillow that is about 2.50 x 1.5 pillow and instead of your seams on the inside of the pillow leave about a 1.5 inch seam and stitch it to the tube....certainly if I do make another I will do a pattern..how is that lol

      Delete
    2. 1.5 to 2 inch seam....I went and checked it ...definitely 2 inch seam for tubes and pillow and that is what you stitch so the seams are inside the fold of the whole bed....

      Delete
    3. Sounds easy enough...Thanks a bunch!!
