See you in September PAPER LADIES.....

I love  SEPTEMBER , possibly of all the months of the year, this one
has been my favourite all of my life. It meant more learning ...
MORE classes, more books, more challenges ..

It also meant UNIFORMS, I never was in school where I was not in a uniform.
At boarding school it was navy blue and white and grey ...
in Nursing School it was all white and the occasional sweater in blue ...
When I went into Big Pharma, many of us wore either navy blue and black suits ..
You could always find us in medical and hospitals ... we were the ones with
the details bags in black and on wheels ...
(Where all of our samples were for the dr's)

I wear different "uniforms" today ... I call them my HOME WEAR
uniforms. because I wear them at HOME .... lol
..all of my clothes look similar ... When I like a skirt for instance ...
I will make half a dozen the same ..... I love Nighties .... especially white
ones, so I have well let's say, I will never run out ....
I have all the same sweaters, I love pocket shawls for the cool nights ...
Some habits are hard to break .... I love order, and uniforms have meant
just that to me .... ORDER!

So when Cori and I were deciding on our September Lady
we both agreed, she had to be wearing some kind of uniform ...

I dug through my hankies and felt this one was as plain as can be but
still looked much like the uniform I wore for almost two decades ...
If it looks like an apron, we wore them when we did our chores as not to
dirty our uniforms too much.

A smile comes upon my lips --because the TAMMIE, on her head ... what my Nanny called
them, well I had a few of those too. She would make me -every summer at least
4 different colours to take with me when I went back to school in September ...
 I was always colour co-ordinated ... and even then I was a 3 colour girl ..

Somethings just do not CHANGE ....

TILL YOU SEE WAIT ALL OF CORI'S Paper Ladies .... Both her September ladies are gorgeous .....
She really glamourized hers ... both are beautiful ....

Here we have them grouped per quarter .... these are JULY, AUGUST and SEPTEMBER ...
Mine on the top and Cori's below, we are often on the same wave length for colours ...

Cori always does two ladies, one in needle turn and the other applique and she provides
all the steps are in our patterns ....

I like doing mine in embroidery and hankies ... I show you how too ....
there will never be two alike which makes these so unique ...
They are pretty easy to do, when you see all the steps ....

The pattern will be ready by the end of the week ... I have a few things that require my immediate attention so we will let you know when it is available ...

October is our next one, and I can hardly wait to start her ..... in fact November and December are pretty amazing too .... We are both excited to show you what we are doing with them all at the end of the year ... It has been a rather challenging year to say the least but every month had a highlight ....

OUR Paper Ladies have provided that sweet challenge we both needed to help us through this year ...
It will result in a journal of our passion and love for fabric, just wait and see ....

  1. Such a sweet uniform, that your paper lady is wearing!
Here in Austria there aren't existing schools where the pupils were uniforms. So I do not know this at all. But I can imagine the advantages!
Have a wonderful September, my dear friend!

    Hugs
    Hilda

    1. HI Hilda ,the advantages are so many, you don’t have to think about what to wear each day,
everyone is treated equally, it is less expensive, and you feel part of a community….
at least that is what I always felt….and today, I still feel I am unique, as my style is very classic
      and I wear few colours….
and yes my sweet friend, let’s make September one to remember xxx

  10. Your newest lady is such a nice addition to the collection. Having worn a uniform throughout my entire education and then on my job, I can relate to Miss Uniform. However, she is very stylish in hers. I never felt that way in my uniforms.

    1. You didn't well we had really nice uniforms and when I nursed, I made my own, always had cute little tops with skirts..easier to move around in and yes I had ruffles on some of them....I used to get so many orders in my first year, it payed for all of text books then next 2 years..

  11. I really love this paper lady Samm. She looks so French to me in her red white and blue, and she also looks quite ready to hit the books with that nod to your school uniform days. I think she is really pretty. I love the collection of three, they are so lovely together, and I am kicking myself about the navy because it balances out the three so nicely. I have enjoyed this project more than any other I have done. As I sit here and look at these 9 ladies, I am reminded of you... are you sure you wouldn't consider a trade??? lol. You know I am just kidding.....they are so beautiful though. I know what you are planning for these beauties, and I am so excited to see them!
