Crochet Case....what to do with 50+ hooks..

I have said it more than once "YOU are only as good as your tools?"

Problem with taking on a new HOBBY is ... you never are quite sure
which tools are the best ...

So I purchased, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Bamboo and some rubber handles HOOKS.
(In all sizes)

Ok, another problem?
Where was I going to put them all so I would be able to reach for any of
these AMAZING tools?

Sooooooooo, I looked to Pinterest, but I was not happy with what I saw
because most of them were CROCHET, not so good for someone who
is not quite sure how to do that yet ....

But I know how to SEW ... so SEW I did!

It took me longer to pick the perfect FABRIC then it did
to sew it all together ...

Time to sew, 20 minutes!
(And that was with IRONING)

Ok, I chose two fat quarters, did not even need to  trim them ...
I made 4 pouches..no sense making sleeves for each hook,
I would still be sewing ... wink ....
I grouped them per collection ....

I added a nice vine stitch to divide them all ...
Oh before I did that ... I stitched three sides, wrong sides together
I turned right side out ...
and stitched the ends ...
ohhh I added some Lace from my Nanny ...
I do not think she would have minded, because
I can make two of these, with the other half ...

Much better than sitting in my linen closet with nothing to do ...

Oh yes follow me here ... I did fuse some fusible fleece
to both sides before I stitched them together ...

Just making sure you are following me ...

It is so simple, any one of you could do this in 30 minutes or less ..

I added a button, some ribbon and voila a ...
CROCHET case ...

Now I can get back to crochet more washcloths ...
I figure I am going to make a slew of them this week ...
WHY? because once I have mastered this crochet thing ...
which of course will be some time from now ...
I likely will not want to make simple wash cloths ....
wink ..

I am a little preoccupied today
because Sumatra, had to have some dental work done and they called me once
they were cleaning her teeth and had to take out three teeth ...
She is not going to be happy with me when I pick her up at 5 ...

She may look like this ..
Or rather look like this after the anesthesia wears off ..
regardless, she is not going to be happy with me ...

So I sew ..... and I wash hankies, and I take photos
and I thank GOD he did not want her today ...

I do not think I could bare that ....

Here are some hankies that I put on the line today..
another box was delivered this morning...
Thanks Shelly...x

and I noted our pear trees are producing some lovely pears
for some pear sauce in a week or two ...

Must run, Sumatra is waiting for me at the animal hospital ..

  4. Love your crochet case Samm. If you ever take up knitting, you can make one just a little longer. Just kidding. One new hobby at a time. Glad Sumatra is recovering at home. She will forgive you, in her own time.

  8. It looks like you are ready for any project with that collection of hooks. Your case is a perfect way to keep them all organized. My preference these days is the thicker, padded shafts.

I'll bet you had an angry kitty when you collected him. Poor baby!

    1. I have some padded ones but I find them a bit bulky...I think it is because I was using the aluminum which were much easier to handle....and it makes a difference what you are making isn't that right? and Sumatra was beside herself...more upset with me that I dropped her off and she waited 2 hours before her surgery...but they wanted her there so they could sedate her earlier..she is still staying away from me..but did allow me to take her to the cat litter as she is pretty lethargic lol...

  17. How great it would be to have those beautiful hankies hanging on the line! All my crochet hooks are in a small box. My go to hooks are the aluminum hooks from Boye, but I also really like the set of Denise hooks I got as a gift. I have some Susan Bates hooks in both aluminum and plastic, which are fine too, but I prefer the hook style on the Boye hooks. Love the case you made for your hooks!
