...and some updates in Hankie Keepers and for the love of Crochet

She will be teaching this colonial Paper Ladies block, isn't she just divine
so feminine.? I am not one for dark and civil war designs.
I appreciate the history of it and skill set, but it just does not interest me...

I prefer the softness, the lightness and the detail of this....
She will be teaching some nursery blocks too...wait till you see a couple
she posted on her site... There is no doubt in my mind, the ladies who
will attend this event for 1 week no less, will be awed by Cori's gift of HER...
she is prolific with needle and threads...

I, on the other cannot make any shouts about my APPLIQUE designs, because like crochet
I am just starting to dive into them... But I can sew, in fact I seldom ever use a pattern. I spent many years at airports and with a paper and pencil would sketch designs and then once at my hotel, would find the fabric and would start cutting and sewing by hand...yes by HAND....

Now this Shirt Dress very common in the 70's was one of my most favourite
outfits. I had a slew of them in all colours...of course they were shorter then.
I prefer long today, I have been wearing what we used to call MAXIS since the early 80's.

I had enough RBD pink ( small check) gingham, so I made this shirt dress.
It is very tailored with darts and I brought the waist in so it does not hug my figure
but it certainly accents it.. Now I did not stitch it by hand, I used my machine
this time wink....It took me less than an hour to sew...

I thought it would be a perfect outfit for our MINI INVASION later
this month.. Turns out PINK looks good on me...I was never  pink
girl..funny how things change as you get OLDER lol

I then did complete 2 more cotton washcloths and as I expected each one
is getting better. my orange one was perfectly squared....not one stitch was missed...

I am going to make yet another today....then I will tackle only DOUBLE CROCHET
which is much easier than Single Crochet...or I will do more single crochet but
with a much smaller hook.. we will see..

I also had time to complete a LILAC hankie keeper for a special lady who has a passion for all things crochet...So I dug up a perfect hankie to place inside with an intricate crochet design, that I hope someday I will be able to do . A nice way to say thank you for the lovely crochet
towel she made me a couple weeks ago...

Ohhhh and my Midnight Coal is now affixed in my Mini Cooper, I wired her up to my mirror
and she is a constant companion...Cori made yet another for her Volkswagen Bug
and she called her Midnight ....something...
Go to her blog and see....wink..
Now one of the things missing in my car was an armrest...for long trips, it is was just needed, so I
picked up some foam from one of our local foam stores and sewed on some Peppered Buffalo print perfect for my interior and it works fabulously...

It is still early this am...I have to pour me some coffee
and have my Muffin to lose jump start...

It is amazing how creative one feels when they
begin their day just right...

And that is with YOU.
Good MORNING...

YOU Matter..

  2. Ahhhh Samm, you so make me laugh. What a cute post. MC....she is so cute dangling from your mirror. You are too funny. You know...you have to put a body in that dress to showcase it properly...lol. What talent. I wish I could sew clothes for me. I try, but haven't done it enough for myself to be successful at it yet. The hankie Keeper is so pretty. Are you sure you want to give it to her??? What a lucky lady to have a treasure from you. And lastly, thank you so much for the shout out. You make me teary eyed with all of your love and support. You are the reason I accepted this invitation you know. Thank you a hundred times over for your encouragement sweet lady. 7. A dress in an hour? Wow! Good on you. Your washcloths look great. Nice that they are practical too isn't it? I need to make something cute for the dash/mirror of my new car. Got a Nissan Murano in February in a spicy orange color. NO ONE believed I was going to get it in that color. Ha fooled all of them. Got what I wanted this time. ;) Happy hooking!
