I am thinking of BIRDS...

But I have not even started my project for our next hop...
but they have certainly been on my mind...

It was a perfect day for some beautiful shots....
they are certainly my inspiration for our next blog hop
You will note many of these images will be in my projects....

I do get queries " where did you get that idea?"

Truth of the matter, I slow down and just observe...

This morning, I sat at my window bench for almost 3 hours...
2 cups of coffee, a bowl of hot grits, my camera and look what came through
my lens eye....

Now this is when I just put out the seed, something scared them....LIKELY a hawk
that has been perched on our roof..... it was not long before they
flew back...... it is all so well choreographed .....

I love taking shots while they are flying....it is really amazing when I download
the photos the AHHHH, WOWZIES that come out of me...lol

I think there was 20 morning doves here and one wee sparrow who was in right hand corner
happy to take the chances for a few seeds....
It has been so cold and the snow soo deep, they were very hungry....

It wasn't long when all the seed was gone.....don't you just love this sparrow, tossing the
snow like his beak was shovel....lol
The snow is so light, it is like microscopic crystals....
( all these photos are taken through our kitchen window....)

and my junko ..gosh these guys are soo little....
there was not much left over after the morning doves swept in...
Don't you just love his head stretched upward......

I felt so sorry for him...

I put out yet another cup full...He came back.....
and brought along more of his friends...

It really is a beautiful morning despite the
cold temperatures.....
Thinking spring......

showing how to do a gingham skirt now
using floss instead of crayons...

COLOURING A Graphic using threads...

And birds will certainly be in my thoughts today...
IT IS FAMILY DAY here in Canada....
A paid holiday to stay at home and be with family...

  1. All countries should adopt the family day!

We had 2 hawks sitting in one of our trees yesterday! There was a covey of doves flew by them and one took off on a chase... the other stayed in the tree. He must have been tired. :)

  2. I got an early start on my bird project, then broke my thumb that day....trying to load a fat, old Border Collie with his new loading ramp. Having difficulties sewing, but still able to make my Tree Birds happy with brimming scoops of sunflower seeds. Little fat Juncoes and bright red Cardinals. Love birds.

  3. Lovely bird shots! We finally got to the store to get some suet and it was up for only 30 minutes before 2 different species of woodpeckers came to visit. Should have grabbed my camera but we were enjoying just simply watching them. Love your bird photos, isn't it amazing how quickly they go through all the bird seed, it's like they don't understand the struggle we go through to dig a path through the million inches of snow to feed them!!

  8. Great photos Samm Both the birds and the cross-stitch.. I swear that the neighbourhood birds watch for my truck, if the feeder is empty when I get home, they land in the tree and "speak" to me. Hubby helped out this year. He uses the snowblower to clear a path to the tree so that I can fill the feeder without filling my boots with snow.

  10. Neat photos and lucky birds that have someone like you to feed them. I hate it that I'm missing out on the bird hop. But moving will be over soon and I'll be back again. In the meantime I'll be cheering all of you.

  13. My poor birds are so confused with our weather. Plants and trees are starting to bud, but I am sure we will still get some cold!
