A Frame for stitching... and how to make it work for YOU! and NEW must have TOOL!

I love my FRAME...Harry Barnett
designs these amazing frames for stitchers and cross stitchers.
I have invested in him and his designs for years...

I use his frames by the way differently...thought I would show you with my
new project on it...

My favourite spot at home is on a lounger..I sit curled up in the corner of my seat
and with my frame leaning towards me....I stitch... ( note who is sitting very close to me..)

Recently I noted, ( after many hours stitching Brookes and Cori's vintage patterns)
and found I was leaning forward too much...

Soooooo I made a rice pillow about 22 inches wide by 18 inches deep..
filled it with rice...( for weight and allowing the stand to be manipulated)
I then covered it with a flannel cover and with a slip opening
to allow for the base to slide in....

Now I can stitch for hours upon hours with ease...and hands free...
the best part of his frames is that you can get it right in your view
and with having all the tools necessary you are able to  stitch  in happy heaven...

At least that is what I think HEAVEN will look like to me....
a place where I can stitch alllllll day and night without sleep....

And because I love working on square frames..
I ordered his new square frame...I know Harry will be scolding me
for not waiting for my new knob to go with it....but I am happy
with it right now...wink....

I am working with some variegated threads from ThreadWorx
so I am not following any colour chart except for the photo
of the stitching project I am doing...I am just choosing colours
that work for me...

It is a winter sampler with some cardinals on the top....
Thought this would be ideal up North when I sit
by the window and watch the birds feed....

Now I will not be working on this today...
I will be tackling this.... FREEEEEEEE !

It is simply adorable..hopefully I will have it completed for my show
and tell of Tammy 4 all seasons next week...
that is my goal anyway...

I have been listening.....and for those who were chatting about how many stitches
they had to remove from their Tammy projects...

THIS IS ONE TOOL besides threads and hoops you need to invest in...

HERE IS WHY...

They are sharp...they clearly go under your stitches and shave off the x stitch...
the tweezer part is sooooo pointy you can grab those stitches with complete finesse...
OUT THEY COME....

Last week, I had x stitched 300 stitches....that is 3 inch square..in the past...
I would have thrown out the piece and started again...

NOT THIS TIME.....I took my Martelli Tweezers and within minutes...all the stitches
were out with no cutting of fabric...and I was ready to begin again..

frogging stitching tool

  • Frog or Frogging is a slang term used by stitchers to refer to removing stitches when you make a mistake. When you take a stitch out you have to rip it, rip it. Get it ...

  • I love this photo...I was able to capture his wings still open while he was coming down to land...
note the sparrows could care less....lol

Don't you just love his attitude?

Reminder tomorrow or Sunday we will announce TREE BIRD
    blog hop on sewwequilt.com

    2. Beautiful photos and stitching! I love the cardinal photo. Thanks for all the how-to make stitching easier posts. I have not cross stitched in 30 years. I am hoping some of these new tools may get me back to stiching ... and the first thing I want to make is that adorable free gingham bag pattern from Brooke! Thanks sew much ... {{{hugs and stitches}}} ... :) Pat

    3. Love Harry's frame - I'm interested… would love to give one a try. Thanks for sharing the info on that & the tweezers. I've sent the company a message, but had no reply yet. Brooke's freebie is so cute - I printed it out on Wednesday! :-) Your stitching looks great - can't wait to see more WIP (work in progress) pics!! And I LOVE the cardinal pictures - they're beautiful. I love cardinals - one of my favorites, but I love birds in general anyway. Thanks for sharing! Happy stitching & sewing!!

    4. I love my frame by Harry! I order the Diana and he included a larger, what I call, neck, sew it could adjust up and down more. I got the 8 inch round. What size is your square one? I see he has 1 new 10 inch square hoop. Those tweezers look amazing, guess I had better hurry and order them before they are all gone, lol!

    6. With all of these great tools, you are making this cross stitching hobby much more appealing I must admit. That frame is so cute, and I love the idea of your pillow to make it perfect for you. I am going to be stitching a few more beginner projects, so I must head over and take a look at these frames. The tweezers are a must for me! Thank you so much for all of your hints and tips Samm. It is so nice to have your insight when beginning this new hobby. Love Brooke's free pattern for us. I want to get it stitched up too. xx ~Cori
