A hint of a new pattern....

I got this piece ( not the sweater coffee cup)  that is from Tim Hortons... I dropped into our new store and got this tea this morning after sending more parcels out.... I am talking about my paper piecing made from a sweet friend....
It is a lovely mat for my window sill. I got thinking ( yep those famous words) wellll I am going to design one that will suit the whole length of my window sill. It makes sense...I spend every  morning here with my feathered friends and my T-cup and Sumatra for hours each day...

( don't you just love the VINTAGE feel of both cup and mat) me too!....WEll I just finished measuring it and I will work on a new pattern design that will suit this spot perfectly, something that can be washed easily... I just pulled some fabrics and I have my tablet with me, so I will work on something we are away...not away from technology, just from home..* this home.

I was getting my list ready of things to bring as we will be away from home for a bit... had some company to share with you this pm, before we leave....

T-cup sat in the window with me for quite awhile watching the family of blue jays we seem
to have attracted this year...much more than last...and gosh do they love their peanuts in the shell. We
have to bring BIRD Sitters while we are away to feed our feathered friends each morning...

We call this one MR SCREAM cause that is what he does till I bring out the peanuts...

And LOOK, our cardinals are back ...3 families we have noted so far....and look at how he stands out next to all the sparrows...and they are sooo well camouflaged, you really have to look to see how
many are there...

And I am not exactly a squirrel lover but they play well with our feathered friends and often
can be seen eating close by .....this one is kinda cute....

but T-Cup made a bit of a sound and that is what scared him off....so on that note....
YOU don't scare me...but I really must run...

Just wanted you to know I certainly have not abandoned my love for quilting too...

  5. Great photos! Funny enough, my black squirrels are the least skittish, then the grey, then the red. T-cup is such a beauty! Have a safe trip...miss you already. Sadly most of our snow is gone; but on the bright side we had a beautiful sunny day today...though I am still enjoying the woodstove and so are the pets. xox come back soon!

  7. You have black squirrels, ho neat. We don't have them around here, just the gray ones. Great pictures today. Love the birds. A Christmas runner would be fun to work on. Have a great day.

  8. I LOVE the view from your window!! Nice thing about the snow is it sure makes the birds' colors pop! Purrrr-ty :) ... Never thought you would abandon all things quilty .... especially paper piecing, but perhaps a break now and then makes the heart grow fonder so you are ready to pick it up again when a piece calls ... :) Safe travels, stay warm, and take care!

  9. Love your pictures, as always. Expect a few questions about this new camera as I am trying to figure it out, but I went over and picked up my mini for my post that I was working on. I'm a big girl now, but I like to go back to my childish ways...lol In photography that is. Have a wonderful trip.

  18. Bird sitters, too funny! I counted 6 sparrows next to the cardinal, and I can see why you and the cats spend so much time looking out the window, such pretty birds come to visit you.

  20. Beautiful photos. We have three blue jays that have stuck around from when they were hatched this spring. The one is quite a character and the kids named Mohawk. Such fun to watch all the outdoor friends, furry and feathered.

  23. I love watching birds. The little wrens are my favorite. They squabble and bicker and raise such a fuss that the dogs bark at them sometimes. LOL Have a good trip. Enjoy your holidays.

  28. I am loving the old ,magazine covers. I remember seeing those old Saturday Night Posts magazines and I was always fascinated by the cover art. In 1952,I would have been only 10 years old. We never took those magazines but my neighbor did.
I was thinking about the questions you wrote . We never had a car until I was much older so the bus was always our mode of transportation and still is for many people in Louisville,Ky since there are no subways or trains to take people into the downtown area. I do not recall seeing anyone with a duck or a tree on the bus. But I still have memories of tree shopping in the neighborhood with my Grandma. My father and grandfather passed away when I was 7 and 8 so there were no men in the house and the women had to do it. How it got home, I am not sure. I don't remember carrying it so maybe she had it delivered. Today, I think most women go with an artificial one rather than shop for a live one. I also don't recall the brown paper wrapping but gift wrapping was free in many stores and people would wait forever to get them done. I also remember when it more and more difficult to get a free box and then they were gone. I hated that we quit wrapping gifts and started using the bags. There isn't the anticipation with those, I don't think. As for the cigars, can't say that I am sorry to see them go away from enclosed spaces, at least. I never liked the smell.

  29. I see 7, I think. I also think your squirrels are adorable up there. Ours are a drab brown and the tails are very thin. My husband calls them tree-rats, lol.
