What do you mean I cannot TALK?

18 years...I had this desk PHONE for 18 years...WHY do I KNOW that .....? I called BELL here in Canada to see if I could purchase another...It had been acting up....like dropping calls...I kept telling people, "NO I am not hanging up on you...it is our connection up here on the escarpment.".. BELL shared with me I still had an account with them and it was in my record which phone I had purchased...EGADs, they know far too much lol...

I don't think anyone believed me. ( about the dropped calls) ...lol What really threw me this week, was I was speaking with some executives and I kept hearing this click...like someone was listening...it was the strangest thing...I thought " is he taping me".....Now he could have but I doubt it....wink...

So I moved my phone from my desk to a small table in my office....and then it happened...IT LOST POWER....like no lights on, no one home....long gone, out to the wreck yard.......

" OHHHHH no not my favourite PHONE. MY an old fashioned dial with screen...

BELL DOES NOT SELL THESE PHONES ANYMORE...can you hear me weeping?

I called on my IPHONE, ( Dislike with a passion hand held phones...DISLIKE I tell YOU )

I want a phone with an old fashion hold in your hand receiver...LIKE my COMIC.

Why is this so hard to find? I spent 3 hours todays...( was suppose to be writing the pattern for the UMBRELLA I promised you) but NOOOOOOOOO I am searching for an old desk phone...

Located one...REFURBISHED, COSTLY, and I don't care....I want one.....PROBLEM NOW...
it won't be here till OCTOBER 14th...  We are heading on holidays soon ....and I have lots to get done before I go.....so maybe not having a PHONE will be OK....

....there are certain PEEPS I like checking in on.......MY cell provider does not allow me the luxury of long distance calling......SOOOOOOOOOOO I don't have a PHONE!

Well my sweet peeps. I am heading back to my sewing studio...Anna has been very busy with our ETSY store...you will have to take a peak....

and I normally say call me....but you know...I HAVE NO PHONE!

Happy weekend, YOU MATTER....

Next week Rush HOUR.....

  1. I don't have a smart phone, mine makes phone calls. That's it, just makes phone calls. It doesn't check the internet, it doesn't tweet, it doesn't take pictures, it won't text. The phone guys laughed at me, but I managed to score another one when it died. Now I consider it a badge of honor, I have not been taken over by the dark side. I am not one of the droids you are looking for. Now my laptop is another matter.....

  2. My 1st reply seems to have been lost in space...so I'll try again. You poor, poor dear. I TOTALLY feel for your loss! I am no good when something near and dear to my heart becomes obsolete...if it ain't broke, don't fix it (not even to improve it...I likely won't thank you). Let me offer you some hugs, and a "cuppa" to wrap your hands around. I'd call you,, but that would just remind you of your awful situation LOL

  3. Horrors! My cell sits in the car, only for emergencies. It is smarter then me, well that is what I was told. It has been used so little that I forgot how to turn it on to make a call, lol! Hang in there.

  4. Oh no! That is such a bummer! I am glad you found a rebuilt replacement. Sometimes progress is really not the best thing.

  5. I'll send you a couple cans and some string...a very long, long string!

  6. Glad you found one. Nice to know I'm not the only 'dinosaur' out there. All this time, I didn't realize you are in Canada. Greetings from Cape Breton.

  7. OMG I know what you mean !!!.....Like when you have been using the same hair gel for years.....all of a sudden they quit making it ! &*$%#@*(+@@##

    1. That was me BTW, I forgot to log out of the guild website after I finished working on it.

  8. Like you and everyone else it is frustrating when something I take for granted becomes obsolete...look out! I think manufacturers have an obligation to inform there consumers. Maybe you were doing something incredibly fun when your notice from Bell came in and you missed it, or thought it was junk mail. Now Phones...unless there is a speaker on it....please don't give it to me. I need my hands free when talking so I can take notes, polish my nails or these days sew.....

    Have a Great Week End!!!
    Huggs, Nancy

  9. I's rather cut off an ear than go with no phone! LOL!! Don't know how you will do it! Wink Wink!

  10. I totally get all of you comments. I keep an old phone in my sewing room in case of a power outage here in Sunny southern California. When we have wild fires sometimes the power goes out. Did you know that cell towers can go out also. If you do not have power in your house you can not use some of the land line phones. You need the old style to call someone. Who would have thought.
The bra comment hit home as well. As soon as you find a bra that you really like they discontinue it. WHY?

  11. I couldn't call you, if I desired. Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement. I took your words to heart. Today I cut out the background for Swoon quilt. I had one block cut out for it. I even sewed part of the block together. Remember I'm a perfectionist, so it takes me a lot longer than most for every task and I have to take lots of breaks. That's my first sewing/quilting of the year. I'm not kidding. It felt like a new lease on life. I've added a new break through anti-depressant for a short term and I guess it's working. It was a great day. Even if it was just for one day, it was fantastic. I'm so hyped, I don't want to go to sleep again tonihgt. I hope I'm so tired, I'll just crash and burn. Thanks for the encouragement. You have no idea how much that helped. I'm like the little train - I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I know I can, ...

  12. Oh that just really stinks. I'm so sorry that your beloved phone had to give up the chatty life. I hope you get lucky and the new one arrives sooner than expected.

  13. You're too funny! My parents still have an old rotary dial desk phone in the spare bedroom. Every time a technician shows up at the house for phone service, they want to replace it with a new one. Mom WON'T let them. When the electricity goes out, she still has phone service. I personally don't have a "home" phone anymore. Just my smart phone that is smarter than the operator (moi) sometimes!

  14. I know what you mean about hand held phones. I too keep a desk top phone and when I do use the hand held, I usually put them on speaker phone. I hate holding hand held phones. My cell stays either in my purse or in the cab of the truck between trips. It took me a long time to get my family to quit calling my cell and to use my home line. I only use my cell for traveling basically.

I usually buy 2 or 3 of something that I really really love using... take for instance my hairbrush. I have 4 waiting in the drawer! ha!

  15. I love those old phones but we are all cell service now because of cost, convenience, phone numbers (area code) since we moved, long story, not interesting, but I can still remember when the designer phones first came out...I bought 3 different kinds, then I found a Mickey Mouse one, then a Teddy Bear one, well I just went phone crazy. They had their uses but now have all gone to the thrift stores... I like to think I am a little saner now, but not sure...maybe that's cuz my brain is in my iPhone now...I use it for note keeping, appointments, timing stuff, playing games, and oh yeah, texting and phone calls, too.

  16. Uh-oh. Trying to imagine you without a phone! ;o)

My complaint about the new phones is they are uncomfortable to hold for long... which is way I've begun using the speaker phone option when I can. Hope the new, old phone arrives sooner than expected. :o)

  17. This won't bring back the phone but you can get a old fashioned type receiver that you plug into your iPhone. I am in the same boat. Trying to find a clock radio, phone combo for my night stand and I was just told they don't make them anymore. WHAT??? Mine is at least 20 years old.

  18. I know what you mean about the phone! My youngest had never seen anything but wireless phones. He commented one time after we were searching for the lost phone - "They should invent a phone that's connected to the wall or something!" I hope your new refurbished phone comes sooner than you think!

  19. Too funny. I have to admit I like my wireless with bluetooth. I hate holding the phone receiver. With the bluetooth I have 2 hands to drive, do dishes, cook whatever.
Hope the new phone is working for you now. I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out. ;o)

You think they are just words...they are sew much more than that...your wee messages tell me, you are kind, smart and important...
