Nashville and my oh my have things changed...

I have been known to be eclectic in my taste in music, but I have never really
been a big fan of country music ......well until now...

But first let me share an observation oh how things have changed
in only 20 years....

Years ago many of us had portable televisions with
VHS ( tapes)  we used to push into and voila...

We could detail our doctors ( well I did) and watch movies at night
that we rented  on a little screen tv...

I had one for years and it was even in colour....wink...

And then NETFLIX came into our lives
- Canada was slow to get on board but now
we can stream ( that term used to mean a water brook, or creek)
now it means streamed through ICLOUD ( which is where the worlds seems to connect
and share stuff)   and as long as you have an
iPad or LAPTOP you can view anything you like...
of course you need an ISP ( internet supply provider ) with lots of bandwidth...
( i know all this new jargon that was only brought to life in the past few years)

I love my MAC BOOK AIR, I can take it anywhere..
As long as I am near a router or time machine...( I know it is ridiculous isn't it?)
and all the while I was hand quilting the past couple weeks,
I watched 2 seasons of NASHVILLE...
yes I believe I watched 44 episodes...

And am I HOOKED....Hayden plays Juliette who could also be
Taylor Swift, although many downplay that...
and Connie plays Rayna who could be REBA but they also downplay that too...

And then there is this sweet SCARLETT played by an Australian singer..
Clare Bowen...she just melts my heart.... I have no idea who she could be...

and there is Deacon a love interest and Avery a love interest and Luke a love interest
and Jeff and Duncan and a whole lot of characters who sing
and can they sing....of course all COUNTRY....

I have even streamed many hits from the show like..

A life that is good
How you learn to live alone
Love Like Mine
Black Roses
Don't put dirt on my grave just yet...
Nothing in this world will ever break my heart again

Here is the Premise according to Wikepedia.....Thanks I could not said is better..

Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) is the established "Queen of Country" music. However, her latest album is not selling well and her tour is playing to half empty venues. Her record label suggests that she open for Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere), the young and sexy best selling singer of bubble gum country. However, Juliette, seeing Rayna as privileged, purposefully alienates her. Rayna, who dislikes Juliette's style of music, rejects a joint tour out of hand. The two women come into conflict as each tries to get guitarist Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten), Rayna's bandmate and former lover, to sign on to their tour. Rayna's life is further complicated when her estranged father, millionaire businessman Lamar Wyatt (Powers Boothe), convinces her husband, Teddy Conrad (Eric Close), to run for Mayor of Nashville.

I enjoyed it sooooo much I may watch it all over again
while I work on some projects for the SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER blog hop
and RUSH HOUR...

The Next SEASON begins in September....I am there...
and I think I AM IN LOVE with NASHVILLE and their MUSIC...

And what have you been doing with your TIME...
what NETFLIX saga is a must see....?

Have you been watching NASHVILLE?

This is Juliette...she is a bit edgy....always seems to jump in way over her head
and create chaos..but I love her.....and she really sings....

  2. Love Nashville the City. Never have watched the show though. Since I live right outside of Nashville we get to hear the latest country music first. With saying that I have to say I have never been a fan of country music until the past couple of years. After reading your post I might have to start watching the show much to my husbands dismay. He hates nightime dramas....I don't sew and watch TV.

  3. I don't watch this, but I guess I should add it to my Netflix watch list. I love country music, so I'd probably love this, too!

  4. I still have a few more epis to go on the first season. My husband watched it and wanted me to get interested in it too but sadly I didn't sit down and watch it with him as I didn't want to get started on another show in conflict with something else I watched at the time. (I watch on Hulu. ) I still could hear all the dialogue as he had the volume up for his hearing loss and vaguely know what was happening or he would tell me about it. The first season (2012) had all Hank Williams song titles but I forget now or can't find where I read it, what the 2013 season theme titles were.

  5. I absolutely love the show NASHVILLE. My son gave me all the music CDs for my birthday and I have asked for the DVDs for Christmas. Then I can watch any time and anywhere. I have always loved country music. These are actors who can sing or singers who can act. Either way..I am hooked!

  7. Found it---all but two of the shows in season 2 are named for songs performed by female singers such as Patsy Cline, Emmylou Harris and Kitty Wells. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nashville_(season_2). I was wrong too. I am up to season 2, epi 17, LOL

  8. Yep, watched it all! Love it. Glad you found it!

  9. No time...too many good police shows... Law & Order (most versions) NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, CSI (most versions), Criminal Minds, Flashpoint reruns, Person of Interest, and for a good laugh, I love watching Duck Dynasty...got my son hooked now as well. Soon, Doctor Who will be starting up again, and I will have to re-watch all those as well LOL

  10. Netflix "The Event" is good. "Orange is the new black was good last season. All Netflix

  11. I have seen "Nashville" on network tv, but I love to watch shows on Netflix without commercials and one episode after another. I will put this one on my list to watch. I just finished a quilt while watching "Sons of Anarchy." I watched all 5 seasons. I can't even believe I am admitting this, but I loved the craziness of it. Now, Netflix is suggesting some very violent shows for me to watch...oops. Maybe I should go back to watching "Parenthood" and "Army Wives."

  12. Haven't watched any of it...but maybe....

  13. I've been a fan of Hayden since her days on One Life To Live and then Heroes. I love her on Nashville along with all the rest of the cast. Waiting for the next season to start.

  14. I live just outside of Nashville, about 30 minutes east, so this series was near and dear to my heart! I love it! Although I must say, it has been commented that we really don't do secret meetings under the bridge LOL!!! A lot of the stuff that happens on the show really does happen to these "stars" and it is fun to find oneself standing behind one in the CVS line!

  15. I'm a huge country music fan but I've never watched Nashville. I rarely watch TV or movies at all. In fact, if it were up to me, I wouldn't have cable or satellite TV provider or the TV. I do watch a few shows but usually nothing regularly. Hubby has it on all the time but it's just noise for me.

  16. Love country music, and love, love Nashville!! Glad you do too!!

  17. I have never seen Nashville even though my grown daughter watches it. I do love me some country music...actually I love all types of music. It soothes my soul and makes me happy. Streaming, Cloud, Netflix...all these things are foreign to me as I don't even have a tablet or smart phone. Yes, I am archaic but not by choice. Mr. C thinks I am technically challenged and wouldn't be able to learn it at all. I might just surprise him someday. Creative Bliss Dear...

  18. As much as I like country music, I have not watched the series. However, I am a big fan of PBS and the British cop series. Endeavor, Scott and Bailey, Dalziel and Pascoe but my all time favourite, and it's on NETFLIX is Inspector George Gently.

  19. I love this series and so does my husband! We watched with baited breath to see if they were going to be axed or not and cheered when the show was picked up for another season. The music is really great....even for those who aren't country fans. What a great show to stitch by...but, I would probably have bloody dots all over my project from poking my finger during a stressful moment!

  20. I did that with Downton Abbey, ADDICTING !

  21. Nashville my home town--when "Nashville" is being filmed--locals are encouraged to be part of the show. The cast is very approachable

  22. I have seen the show. I'll have to check it out. I have been in Nashville several times and it is a beautiful city with delicious food! And yes, it seems to be full of country stars! (I actually have a friend whose aunt was Elvis' step mother!)
Country music is so close to mainstream "rock"(?) now, I like it too. (I really don't like the old Blue Grass and twangy type.) I also have very eclectic taste in music. I used to play classical music during quiet times in my classroom. I loved it when second graders would ask for Bach or Gershwin (not as classical as Bach, but classical all the same!) Music can certainly change a mood. There is nothing that can bring me to tears as quickly as beautiful music!

  23. We just finished watching the first two seasons of The Americans! LOVED IT!! We just started watching BOSS and I find it boring...my hubby keeps saying lets give it one more episode...and I keep falling asleep! I think I need a bit of Country Music to help me stay awake! haha I will suggest a change tonight...thanks!!

  24. We haven't watched Netflix yet, hubby is heading out for 3 months so I'll have to check it out. I am with Shari, when I watch TV it's mostly Law & Medicine Show series, with a few shows like Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelorette thrown in. For Comedy it's Storage Wars, and I can always watch a good Lifetime or Hallmark channel Movie. Very happy to hear there is good commercial free Television out there!!
I hope you have a Wonderful Day!!

  25. Oh Nashville...I miss you. I miss Deacon. I was hooked, but gave it up cold turkey. I had withdrawal shakes every Wednesday night for months. :)The music is great. It would be great to stitch to.

  26. I've never watched Nashville but I recently finished binge watching Chuck. It was a real life sucker as it is necessary to pay very close attention to the details. It was fun but I won't be doing anything like that for a long time or ever. I sew to music, pod casts, shows that you can spot watch or in silence.

  27. I do enjoy Nashville and love seeing "local" scenes I remember from living in Tennessee. However I can't wait to see "Outlander"!

  28. I have not watched Nashville yet but we plan to watch it before the new season. My youngest daughter is very addicted. BTW, did you know I live just a little over 1 hr. south of Nashville?!! wink!!

  29. I have got hooked on several shows which would be out of my norm. My favorite seems to be Longmire though.

  30. I actually haven't watched it at all even though I am a country music person. Maybe if I ever put a tv in my studio I might check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I LOVE the Nashville show, too! I like the more modern country music they play on the show. You must catch Fargo (from FX) if it goes on Netflix! And Longmire, too!
