Quilted Cotton Tour....and my Gingham Sewing Studio sneak peak..

Just a sweet reminder....

The particular equation behind "24-Hour Happy," as the project came to be called, can be broken down as follows: 400 people perform the four-minute song, including Pharrell and a few celebrities (part of the fun is finding Steve Carell--the voice of Gru--Jimmy Kimmel, Tyler the Creator and Kelly Osbourne, among others). Pharrell does the song 24 times, at the top of every hour, followed by 14 additional performances within that hour. WAFLA chose to shoot in Los Angeles (they don’t call themselves We Are From L.A. for nothing), starting at sunrise in Downtown L.A., moving to LAX, Silver Lake, Echo Park and Hollywood, among other places, ultimately circling back to Downtown. Filming took 11 days (not consecutive), with two days dedicated to Pharrell. “On the non-Pharrell days, we shot 42 setups,” says WAFLA. “We must have walked 10 miles a day. Fortunately it was L.A., where no one walks, so sidewalks were generally empty, which made it easy to shoot.”

Before I started quilting, I use to make all of my own clothes and I designed a few dolls, these are some of my favourites.
"Happy" is how I start my day , every morning I put my timer on so it automatically begins playing as I walk into my studio"

I am sitting in the chair that you see in the right hand corner...this is my view this morning..

The only light that I really need is my RELIABLE UBERLIGHT.......that is what is hanging over my sewing machine..
My dear friends at Reliable felt with a new studio I needed a new light...they keep me aglow...
ohhh they do not have a YELLOW or RED iron just yet but they assured me as soon as they get one...I WILL BE GETTING IT lol

T-cup first day out of hiding..she has been under the weather for the past few days... but the HAPPY video brought her into my sewing studio.. this is my comfortable sewing chair....I was going to re-upholster it but the colours match soooo well
with my surroundings..matches all the Peterboro Baskets perfectly.... I have decided to keep it as is...
it has many soft yellow flowers in the background..

Oh the crumbs were not from cookies or biscuits but homemake date and bran bread
that I made on the weekend...and I just happen to find a couple more cups that match perfectly
in my studio....I large large cups this one is lovely in black and white...almost like a damask pattern..

This was taken the other day as the garage door opened and David was leaving for work....

And this is what my sewing studio looked like just 2 weeks ago....it's hard to believe it is the same room...
By the way this room has 8 walls and is only 10 x12 room total 120 square feet...
I used 560 square feet of paint...
YOU can do this ladies...most of you possibly have even more space in your home you can turn into a sewing studio!!!

HERE I am this morning in my HAPPY yellow gingham sewing studio, planning a YELLOW and White gingham quilt much like my Picnic Quilt but with the message  GINGHAM MATTERS.... what do you think? I am just waiting for some fabric to arrive and in the meantime, I will cut all of my squares in some white fabric that I have....

My Sewing Studio is not yet completed...I have a few more things that are heading my way...some birds mmmm, some all BLACK additions.... David surprised me with a new MACBOOK Air on the weekend so I can spend more time in this room vs my office, which I adore...but this room...welllllll I am HAPPY! happy, happy... my iPad is feeling very neglected lol

Now I am working on my boudoir chair, a project that will be revealed very soon...all done in quilted cotton...

In the meantime...

6/10 – Nancy Zieman is on today with a TRIO OF Pillows!
6/12 – The Sassy Quilter she is up tomorrow and she always has something reallll sassy

Congrats to Lana, Elaine, and Sara....they all won some Peterboro Baskets... they are all over the moon with excitement...I see many picnics in the near future...

1 with green lining. 1 with red lining and 1 with blue...thanks again to Peterboro Baskets for making out HOP one we will alll remember...

mmmm I may even have 1 more to giveaway!

AND JUST IN CASE you are wondering what is
all this HAPPY all about..
Here are the lyrics..

WE need to be HAPPIER in our world...this is a nice start..

Pharrell "Happy" lyrics
[Verse 1]
It might seem crazy what I'm about to say
Sunshine she's here, you can take a break
I'm a - hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air like I don't care, baby, by the way

[Hook]
Because I'm happy...
Come along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do

[Verse 2]
Here comes bad news, talkin' this and that
Well gimme all you got, and don't hold it back
Well, I should probably warn you, I'll be just fine
No offense to you, don't waste your time, here's why...

[Hook]
Because I'm happy...
Come along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do

[Bridge]
Bring me down... can't nothing...
Bring me down... my level's too high...
Bring me down... can't nothing...
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)
Bring me down... can't nothing...
Bring me down... my level's too high...

Bring me down... can't nothing...
Bring me down, I said...

[Hook x2]
Because I'm happy...
Come along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do

[Bridge 2]
Bring me down... can't nothing...
Bring me down... my level's too high...
Bring me down... can't nothing...
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

[Hook x2]
Because I'm happy...
Come along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I'm happy...
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do

Thanks Mister Pharrell...you are all about HAPPINESS!

  2. Oh, so bright and happy and truly a gingham heaven! I was enjoying the sunny walls and windows in your room as it was gray and pouring rain here for the last two hours and just now the sun broke through as I was typing. Did you send the sun my way, my friend? Thank you! You are a drop of pure sunshine on a gray landscape. Think I will go see if there is a rainbow over the small stream valley below our hill. May you have a happy day in your newly renovated happy place and enjoy the results of all your work ... :) Pat

  14. What a beautiful studio! I really envy you. I love sewing and quilting and my dream is to have a room just for me, where I can do that. My son and husband all have their spaces, but my house is too small for a sewing space too. I even have a brand new sewing machine table in its box, that I got for Christmas about 10-12 years ago but it hasn't even seen the light of day yet. I loved your pictures and I love the yellow and white theme. Meanwhile, I will just sit here and dream. Rosie at: everythingisalwaysrosie.blogspot.com

  17. There is one unanswered question...who ate the cookies? I see the coffee cup and I see crumbs. And I see a cat at the computer next to the plate of crumbs. So who gets blamed? Poor T-cup? Next thing you'll be telling us is that those are T-Cup's reading glasses too. That your eyes are fine. LOL
I love that picture, all the human elements except the human. Too cute.
Your room turned out beautifully. Waiting for cabinets to be built for mine. I don't quite have the knack you do for decorating but have several what I think are cute ideas. We'll see if I can pull it off. Enjoy your happy place. It's lovely.

  26. Samm your sewing room went from a beautiful serene place to a beautiful happy place - I liked it before but I love it now! You've definitely inspired me. I can't wait for the painters to get out of my house, probably tomorrow, so I can get everything put back up and out of my sewing room where we stacked all the pictures, wall hangings, lamps, etc. I'm not going to paint my sewing room but it definitely needs an update. I have ideas.... :) We dance to Happy in Jazzercise - so fun. blessings, marlene

  40. Happy, happy, happy, happy! Such a bright, happy place you have! Sew beautiful - such a cool gingham effect! I love it. The Happy Song is my theme song too! My daughters and I recently went on a quilt "Shop Hop" and we'd crank up the radio to sing along every time it came on, so fun! And for last month's Home Machine Quilting Show in Salt Lake City, I had written new lyrics to to this song to sing each morning as we opened the show (I'm on the board - and since they know I like to sing...) Clap along, if you're here to shop until you wilt, Clap along if you're here 'cause you just love to QUILT!! haha! I'll have the full lyrics on my blog with my next post.
