Do we really want more?

It is still coming down…I can't say I have ever seen such large white flakes in all the time we have lived here. WE were prepared for a Feb rainfall but Mother Nature had other plans. I guess the snow on our  escarpment is here for little while longer. As much as I do enjoy winter, even I have had enough. Our Birds are eating non stop and the bucket of feed that use to last us 2-3 weeks is lasting but a week. At least they are contented...

Things are quieter now and things are settling in well, so I placed some orders for some fabric
and I am ready to sew again… I will complete my runner this weekend and get going on some ruffles…for our next blog hop that will commence on March 5th…..Many of us will be ruffling from the long list I have seen…JOY to my ruffled world I say...

Speaking of quiet…I have my mac upstairs for the next few weeks- right by our window bench
where I usually sit each morning watching the birds feed.

As I took some photos the other day, I still had my barn wood leaning against the window on our deck…I kept hearing this scratching…I quietly reached for my camera and LOOK what appeared..
a black squirrel wearing a blue gingham bow lol.

He kept Sumatra amused…they both played peek a boo, till Sumatra got bored and cuddled in for a nap...

I  love the look of our morning dove gazing down on the squirrel…
"where did he get that bow?"
:)

For all those who have had more than enough snow in their area, perhaps we should be sending up a few prayers for spring...

To a lovely weekend…may the only thing ruffling your feathers is thoughts of ruffled quilts and projects…ok, maybe that is just me..

  1. The weather...enough is enough! I left the house this morning driving through sleet, then heavy snow and ending in rain before I hit my destination. And the squirrel in my bird feeder this morning was wearing a plastic rain cap like my grandma used to wear!

  2. NO... we don't want more!!! Like you, I was a winter fan until this year. We are 2" away from the most snow in our recorded history and I am just beat! I want to retire my snow shovel and not have to lift another flake. I guess we don't have much choice about the weather though, do we? No matter how brutal this winter has been, I know that spring will be here soon and I'm so ready. Love your little squirrel..... we only have a few black squirrels around here and I just love them. You take care....keep snug and safe... and soon we will be mowing the grass and complaining about the heat! :)

  3. We are in the middle of a blizzard right now and I mean BLIZZARD! We are expecting 14 inches today/tonight and is it wet! We are hoping to just keep our power on! Please spring, come soon!

  4. It is long past a question of want or need with that winter weather! Reading Kristen's comment above and I think she is in MN where I know DJ's step daughter is calling uncle. No place to put anymore snow either as she showed a pic of a wall of snow at least 10 foot up.

  5. I'm with you ... no more snow, bring on the warmer weather. We had a thaw for the last few days, rain earlier today, now it's super windy, and by Tuesday it will be back down to zero at night. Yesterday was the first day I saw some grass in my yard since December 15.

OMG, the gingham bow on the squirrel ... too freakin' funny! Glad to hear that things have quieted down.

  8. We had more snow over here in Stratford today, we thought we were going to get rain to --sigh. Love your wee squirrel with the gingham bow. I am happy things are getting back to normal. Blessings Sandra

  9. I've never been a fan of winter...today we had flakes the size of silver dollars...hugh flakes and I couldn't see the houses across the road...we had the thunder and the snow at the same time...and they say there was lightning too but I couldn't see it. The snow turned to rain...it's just a mess. Heavy rain and thunder storms are coming after midnight and winds up to 50 mph winds tonight and tomorrow then back the return of below freezing temps...dang...I've had enough winter and then another deep freeze. I promise I will not complain about the heat in the summer. No more thinking about the snow...I'm thinking ruffles...and spring!! xop

  10. I, too, am dreaming of spring. Although every bit of our snow is now melted away. It is just cold and very windy. Where in the world did that little squirrel get that bow? She has great taste. ;)

  11. No one throw snowballs at me through this computer but we have had no snow this winter, just coldness! BUT, I'm VERY ready for warmer temps. My tootsies were so happy the last 2 days. I wore flip flops! Whoo Hoo! And I'm not home in warm central TX, I'm in the frozen tundra of Missouri! Every squirrel needs a bow of course! And I'm so relieved to hear you're ordering fabric and RUFFLING up some sewing! Have a great weekend! XXOO - Doris

  12. I feel sorry for you all stuck in the snow. Here in California we sure could use some! Drought is something we really don't need, but looks like we will get it anyway. Looking forward to seeing all the ruffles from all the talented quilters.

  13. Lovely Samm I must tell you that we Spring has comes to south of Sweden. There are some early flowers popping up in the gardens, tiny yellow suns and white small flower bells. Yes, I am thinking of ruffles and have indeed started my project, that I think will be so cute. I am not a ruffle girl, but I think this project will fit me very good. As some of my friends will say, that it a Britt-Inger taste.
Have a great weekend over there in the snow and it will soon be spring over there too.

  14. Our snow is gone too... due to a rain we received 2 nights ago. I am hot natured so I usually enjoy winter but this year, I am sooooo over winter and ready to see the flowers popping their little heads up from the earth! I don't even care that it will be windy... which I don't like but I can stand it better than the winter we all have been having. Losing all of January to sickness took the joy out of winter for me.

Love your little peek a boo squirrel and his gingham bow. We have lived here 10 years come May 14 and we have only seen maybe a half dozen squirrels. I think they don't like the resident hawk so they steer clear of our farm.

Have a wonderful day today. I won't be sewing ruffles until the taxes are finished!! ugh!

  15. I have never seen a black squirrel. In Florida, and now in Georgia, I have only seen the grey kind. I think mine would look pretty with red gingham bows but they are more inclined to run around with red ball caps that have a big black G on the front.

  17. Of course the squirrels in your neighborhood wear gingham bows...it does not surprise me at all! LOL. No snow here, just warmer weather and some winds.

  18. I can't even imagine snow right now! We had our air conditioner going all day yesterday.
I haven't seen a black squirrel before, either. Only the gray. Her little head looks pretty, though! Love the bow!
    I'm sending you warm wishes!

  20. I'm sitting out on my deck basking in the sunshine. It's a bit cool but the sun warming my bones is so comforting. I have to do it now because the cold is coming back Monday. :( blessings, marlene

  21. Rain, rain, rain...pools, puddles and flooding rain. I would love to change places with you for a day or two, because I miss the quiet beauty, skiing, skating and looking forward to days off from school. But I realize the grass is always greener.....I know you're very tired of it all and looking for a sunny blue sky and warm spring winds :)

  22. Absolutely! I've had more than enough of the white stuff. Bring on spring. But I'm betting we aren't done with winter yet. And are you now leaving out baskets of gingham bows for all of your wildlife friends to enjoy?

  23. Our 12 inches of snow is melting during the day but the ice returns every morning. Wish more squirrels in my backyard would slip on it (did I really say that?) They are the bane of my husband's garden and we wish they would relocate somewhere else. I yearn for Spring; but the birds in my yard already know that it's coming - they are singing Hallelujah! all day. I love it.

  24. Jan from Sew and Sow sent me over as part of the 5 days of 5 giveaways. Now I'm following you.

  25. I don't know what is more amazing, a black squirrel or one with a bow?! I have never seen either but the combination is very cute. I have escaped our cool Pacific Northwest weather in search of warmth, sunshine, surf and sand at Daytona Beach for a few days. I arrived to claim my convertible mustang in Florida rains! Not such a fun start. But low and behold this morning, the sunshine is pushing those rainy clouds away and....wait...what...oh, yeah...is calling me to the beach right now...got to go! ~Shari
