WE are home to stay!

We are home, and I was sitting on my window bench this morning with a cup of coffee and my
camera with a new lens attached…this shot was taken about 80 feet away. ( from the inside of our home). Isn't he lovely?  A lovely welcome home. We call him Mr Buttons, cause like a shiny red button, we can always find him in our snowy backyard. The Mrs was not to far away…

They have been part of our winters since we moved here 5 years ago next week!

Our Blue Jays were quite excited to see new seeds out for them too!

It has been a long 6 weeks, I have been at the side of my wonderful husband who is now over the worst of it. Sadly it meant I was not here. I still have a lot to do here at home, we have gone through one of the worst ice storms on record for this part of our world. There are still thousands without power for over a week now.

I hope you all had wonderful holidays and looking forward to getting back to some kind of a routine
and sewing and quilting are part of your days once again.  I have missed my home and sewing studio…

Just wanted to touch base, I know we have KONA solids hop beginning soon, ( our dear Carol is looking after that)  and by MONDAY I will be highlighted our Valentines HUGS AND KISSES in Paper Piecing with Soma and I….YOU are in for a treat!

So thank you all for your lovely gifts, perishables which so many enjoyed, your notes, prayers and patience….WE are sooooo pleased to be home once again…

update on jan 2nd…the snow is coming down by inches…I think we are over 12 inches so far..
Again all taken from my window bench, through a window…it is very grey today and the snow
is falling down inches per hour….I have throned out 3 scoops of seed since this morning...

Cardinal ( male and morning dove)

morning dove finally left...

Here is Mr Buttons, he never came in closer today..the other above in a new one...

Even our bluejays have been playing nice these days…I think they are appreciate
of just soooo much food...

Here is Mrs Buttons….she came in while Mr Buttons observed from the pear tree..

isn't he handsome..?

This is a jonco…one of my fav birds..they are smaller than a sparrow..and have white
bellies…we only seem them in really cold weather…
never see them in the summer…
sooooo we continue to feed them till spring...

Here is another…we usually see at least a couple dozen each day, perching on anything
and everything…they have a sweet song..

  22. Sorry to not have been aware of your DH illness! Glad he is mending, love and prayers to you both! Beautiful cardinals...but truly my favourites are the jays. Such saucy little birds who fight my squirrels for some peanuts. You should see the tracks of the squirrles in the snow in my yard, I have 5 who visit and they've left prints as if I've had crazy bunnies hopping all over. It makes me smile to see the tracks that come right up to my front door, where I've no doubt they've come to look for me. LOL So glad you are home...you have been missed!

Hm, I wondered where my other blue jays had gone-now I see they like your sunflower seeds better than my peanuts! Little hams like having their picture taken too! May your new lens help paint a bright future.

  39. I wondered if your part of the country was affected when I heard the weather reports---ice storms have got to the worst as trees and power lines snap like twigs. Snow can be removed or pushed aside, or eventually melts, a pain, not in my opinion, not near as bad. I think we got a little bit during the night down here in Alabama. Sorry to hear that your husband has been ill and recuperating but apparently has turned the corner a bit. Love the cardinal pictures---my favorite bird especially since I am an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and we have our own pair of cardinals.

  40. Wishing continued improvement, peace and contentment to both of you....warm hugs from down south!

  41. I feel so badly that these last couple of months have been so difficult for you and David. I am praying real hard that good health and a wonderful and happy new year will bring joy to you both and some sort of normalcy will take over your hours and days. I can only speculate ... but know that your dear heart is loved by many. Judy C in NC

  42. Never apologize for being right where you need to be! David is in my prayers, as are you. Hopefully, this new year will be one where things get continually better!
Your sweet birds remind me of the Herbert Oliver poem "I Heard a Bird Sing". It begins, "I heard a bird sing in the dark of December...." Its a very short poem, but I have loved it for a very long time. I once decorated an entire Christmas tree with little wooden cardinals that I had carved from wood and painted, and with that poem on ribbons.
Have a wonderful New Year's Eve and Day!

  43. So sorry to hear hubby has been under the weather. Since I'm fairly new, I guess I missed it somewhere that he wasn't feeling well. Here's hoping 2014 brings you and yours a healthy prosperous new year! I'm looking forward to participating in lots of hops in 2014. I just love what you do for us and the sacrifices you make to make it happen. Many thanks!
