I felt so Merry and so JOY, and sooooo into this HO HO HO until I saw that OTHER LADY's quilt!!!

BE Merry, BE JOYFUL, Be INSPIRED...
That is what this HOP has been!

IT  also has been pure JOY sharing this HO HO HO with all of YOU.
All of you who played such a special part...those who created, left comments.
cheered us on and yes even those who  keep us INSPIREd time and  time again..

By now you have visited all our FESTIVE creators...
and I am your last stop....

This is who I shared my day with, each one as special as the next...
YOU just keep shining like the stars in our backyard...

August 9
Sew We Quilt ( yep, ME)

And NOW for my contribution...
After seeing you know that OTHER LADY's outstanding creations..
I thought " I am in trouble, I was planning on just making some table toppers"
Well scrap that idea...she made big quilts...beautiful quilts, complicated quilts... lol

Sooooooo I thought..."she has not made a BED RUNNER!"
YET anyway lol...
Maybe I can raise the bar just a tad and create a GINGHAM
pattern that is full blown... WElllll, that was my idea anyway...

I see pictures in my mind, since this is my year of gingham...
all of my projects had some gingham somewhere...
so this is what I came up with...

Did that OTHER LADY do that this week? lol
No, I did not think so...wink...

Gee, that may have sounded competitive,
it was certainly not intentional wink...

Good thing I took many photos of how I did it, because
otherwise I am not sure I would remember how it all came together...

I cut out squares  with my Accuquilt and started from there..
I measured my bed, with enough of  a hang on both sides and voila...
Ohhh I added BE MERRY, I cross stitched the letters and added french knots
along the side of the letters for a bit of a whimsical touch...
also added some snowflake buttons and one applique snowflake!
I hand quilted it all and added a striped binding all hand stitched too...

I used PRESENCIA  Finca Thread number 16.....( a red one and a white one)
perfect for hand quilting...
I don't think I will ever use anything else again....
It is as smooth as silk.....Corrie at Quilt Taffy
has some...

Can you imagine a nice print in each block?
or how about blue and white blocks...
YOU know me and simplicity...
This is a bed runner that comes together pretty quickly and gives
quite an impact to any bed...

I love chenille covers for my duvets, it is pretty cold here in the winter..
I have a few colours that decorate our bed each season...
So adding bed runners is a perfect solution to adding something quilted
in our bedroom...

I think I may very well make some as gifts this Christmas....

Ohhh don't you just love this photo?
I was panicking as I dragged my David to get some photos out
in the fields with the gigantic balls of hay...
The Man of Steel  quilt photo came out great, ( show soon)
but  this BE MERRY bed runner
needed a more feminine touch...

So we drove back in a hurry..the sun was setting quickly...I had all but
20 minutes to get these shots...

I had David use an electric pump to blow up this mattress, while
I gathered the linens and bed table, books , cups...
ohhh Sumatra..did not have to gather her, she follows me
anywhere when I have the camera...I got so many shots of her
she thought we were making the bed.. she loves to hide
under the pillows..

We set everything up and I began shooting ....I could tell
they were going to come out well...

That Other Lady may have beaten me this time for projects
but I may have won in photo shoot? YES? lol

The funny thing about this shot above....one of the neighbors was watching me which is
not out of the ordinary...They are getting kind of use to seeing me with my camera and
reflectors and staging of  quilts  and sewing projects....

He thought I was doing this for a magazine..."no just for my blog"
"All this for your blog" he said... and shook his head. lol
I just smiled....I did not have time to explain to him about THAT OTHER LADY...

The sun was going down....lol

Here is an earlier shot of Sumatra claiming yet another quilt as her own...
So you see why I needed a bed outside....it just not the same on the lawn....
Our property has never looked so good by the way...with all the rain
we have had and cool nights, everything is so vibrant...

On a side note....this is our backyard...these sunflowers I planted from seeds...( the ones with happy faces) they are well over 6 feet tall, and still no sunflower to show...but when they
do come they will be white too...I got the seeds from Italy!

Ohhhh and this is one of the projects I was going to show with some table
toppers that just seemed soooo darn simple at the moment...
I am rather pleased I made the BE MERRY Bed Runner
and this JOY burlap ruffled pillow....
The other table toppers, I will save them for something else down the road
as a back up if , well you know wink.

Question for you...
Would you be interested in a BED RUNNER,
BEDROOM blog hop
in the future?

think lamp shades, wall hangings, pillows....

( we could supply bed runner patterns?)

That is all I got!
smiling here

Apologies for not getting this up earlier...
I could not load up any more photos...don't know why..
so I went and ran some errands...and now it is working...

our top 2 today are ...

Now tell me this just does not scream HO HO HO love the fabric this lady
used and yes they are pillow cases, makes for great Santa sacks, don't they?

And wait till you see what this lady also created, she is soooo filled
with creativity, it astounds us all...WE love her DEARS.....and of course
HO HO HO...cannot be overlooked..
take a peak at her snowmen...wow!

And most creative.....

Welllll  I did call this lady as soon as I laid my eyes on this ....she is
busy making the pattern...is it not creative...
I want some for every room in my house....can you just imagine
what we could do with this....
Her fabric choices were perfect as her photos...

UPDATE
bed runner blog hop

Just got off the phone with Kathy Brown
when her book first came out for Bed Runners
I purchased many of them and circulated them among my closest friends...
Ever since I have had a fondness for bed runners...

Soooooo Kathy and I will design a total of 4 patterns,
2 each and we will do a bed runner blog hop for next MARCH...

No, I don't have a blow-up mattress or gorgeous flowers in my backyard for photos. I declare you the queen of Ho Ho Ho! Your runner is just so beautiful and now I want to make one. Bigger than yours, of course! LOL

  11. What a great idea! I love the bed runner. You are certainly in the top 2....with that other lady of course! The pillow might have put you on top position though. So very cute! The bed runner question. YES! I have two dogs and a cat....all of them like napping on the end of my bed. That means that there is always a folded quilt there. A bed runner (why oh why did I never think of that?) would be the perfect answer! Thank you for putting that idea in my head!

    ReplyDelete
  64. If my neighbors knew all the fabric flying around my house they would be walking away shaking their heads too. I love being part of this "silent majority" of quilters who just quietly go on about their business. Thanks Madam Samm, always a fun way to start my day reading your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh my, I really love this bed runner! It is so crisp and clean-looking with the white spread. Lovely, lovely work, as always, Madame Samm! Great pictures! I need to try that Presencia thread. Beautiful work! Another great blog is finished, but we all have so many Christmas ideas. It will be a busy season getting ready for Christmas with all of these great ideas. I missed out on registering for the hexie hop in time, but I will certainly be following and working on projects of my own! Thanks again, for all you do--and for an awesome give-away!

    ReplyDelete
  72. What a great bed topper. I've never thought of this concept before...don't know why. You have given me ideas & I would definitely be interested in a bed-runner hop. Thanks for the tutorial as well. I'll bet your neighbors get a kick out of seeing your photo shoots!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Your TWO COLOR rule is still going strong!! The photo shoot is fabulous. My daughter, you know the porfessional photog in the family, says 4:30 or 5:30 during DST is the best time for photos when the sun is waning. I thought full sun would be the best but I was wrong! So now I take my oics in the evening. I still don't have the photo gene...I'll stick to quilting. My stuff always looks so much better when she "shoot's it. BTW, Her main focus is "shooting babies" so my little James told his class at school "My Mommy shoots babies". There was a good reason for a quick parent teacher phone call. The teacher thought it was hilarious but of course had to explain to the whole class exactly what that meant!! LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love your bed runner and it looks beautiful outdoors. I've never made a bed runner but this sure makes it tempting!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Gorgeous bedrunner and I can't wait to see those sunflowers bloom. I wonder, Will they be white too? lol hugs,

  77. As usual, you managed to to beat "that other lady" with your projects. Love the pillow and the bed runner! So many great projects on this blog hop, it truly has been a delight to hop along. Congrats to everyone who participated, your work/projects were outstanding!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Very pretty bedrunner. Such a great idea.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Your photo shoot is amazing! What's next - you never cease to amaze us! And once again, you prove that "size does matter!" The bed runner is out of this world and what kitty would not take immediate possession of it? I don't know of any person who wouldn't like it either. I don't dare show my best quilting buddess that picture, she'll tell me that we need to make them and she'll get fired up and we might get them cut out and then that would be it. I'm good at getting a pattern "kitted" and into the closet. She's better at getting it as far as cut out and then it sits. lol I love the touch of gingham. Gingham has always been one of my favorites. My mother made matching red gingham dresses for us and then shirts for my two brothers. We wore them when we went shopping. I was the baby of the family. If I got separated from them in a store, I just had to look at my dress and then look for the same fabric and I'd find them. Very clever. Back from the rabbit trail - the bed runner is neat and clean with the touch of embroidery that makes it so "homey" and inviting. Thank you to Christmas Carol and you for having a marvelous hop and putting us in the spirit of Christmas although most of us are enduring sweltering heat right now. I know the spirit of Christmas lives in your heart every day of the year - it certainly shines.

  83. The conclusion of another great blog hop and a little tear of disappointment that it had ended. Special thanks to all who contributed in making this a smashing success including TT, my favorite fabric company that I alway seem to gravitate to. I love your bed runner, but now that I think of it I could make one for my two male rescue kitty bed-mates who love fleece. This blog hop has motivated me to delve into UFOs and WIP-we could have an entire Blog Hop devoted to those categories-LOL! Many thanks, from California.

  93. Madame Samm, your bed runner and pillow are stunning, your pictures too, as usual. Your photos cracked me up. A bed in the yard, smiley faces on your sunflowers ... too funny. Sumatra must be a very, very smart cat ... reading two books. ; )

  94. Another fun hop! Your bed runner is stunning. I'd like to see a bed runner hop--have seen a few in the magazines and find it to be just the right sized project. One had pockets on the sides that hung over to put stuff in.

  112. Oh what a fabulous hop. Great projects all around. Love how you made the bed up in the yard to photo.... Your runner and pillow are amazeing.....Love it...I have been hand embroidering again. And I wa sasking jane about the difference in this Presencia thread the other day. I have never tried it . I'm useing the old DMC I still had on hand. But I would love to try it....I am doing another embroidery now. I finished my halloween witch and now I am working on a lady with flowers in her hair. I am gonna cross all my body parts and hope to win so I can try these threads out. That DMC seems to tangle so badly. And that is what I hate so much about it.

I am sad that it will be in March...that is flat in the middle of our busy season at work...ugh! 132. What a neat photo shoot and beautiful bed runner!!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Whew. What a lot of work you have done. Love the bed runner. So pretty. And then you did a ton more work dragging all that outside, blowing up the bed etc and getting your gorgeous Sumatra to lay and be still for pictures. OF course, if Sumatra is anything like my Ragdoll, you were probably able to put him (her?/forget sorry) anywhere you want and that is where Sumatra stays. LOL

I was doing SO well getting to every single one of the stops in the blog hop daily until yesterday. :( I was SO angry. We did some running yesterday and were gone all morning, then part of the afternoon, actually a lot of the afternoon. When we finally got home I got things out for supper, asked my son's fiancée to please make two items to go with the pork rib tips hubby was cooking on the grill so I could sit as I was in so much pain that cooking was not happening from this woman. Then I sat in my chair planning to get through the stops on the last day of your blog hop since it has been a long time since I could actually get through an entire hop and visit every single person's blog. I was able to open and pull the million and one emails that came while we were out running around and check a few things, then I clicked the first stop for the last day and seconds after that page loaded...............internet died. ACK! NOOOOOOOOO. And it stayed down for a few minutes, then came back up again, then sadly about three seconds later it was back down. It was teasing me this way for a few hours making it next to impossible to do anything more than to load a page. And on top of that the cable tv signal was acting up too and freezing the picture or making it tile. All I could think is if my phone died about that same time it would have felt much like the ark ages with no capability of reaching outside our house electronically. LOL So, to stop what will become a long story knowing me and end it here; we went to bed about 1am and the internet was still not back up again. My poor husband was trying to do work for his 'real' job so that wasn't a happy time for him either.
But, I got up early this morning and after this is posted, I finally got the last of the stops finished. Whew. I was sad that one from yesterday I wasn't able to enter because of the internet as it was closed and when I got to that page today it was to see the winner's name from her stop yesterday. :( Oh well, I guess I wasn't really sad, but more surprised it was only open that one day but I could still read her fun post so all was not lost by any means. :)

    Have a great weekend Samm.
