Meet Pearl....she is a friend of Rosemary B....( she jumped right in with all 4 legs) wink!

This post is from Rosemary B....not Mdm Samm I just hosted this for her...

Dear Friends, I am sorry I have not been around lately.
A couple of things happened with my loved ones, one involving icky eye surgery and another involving REHAB…
Yes….. my mom is in REHAB. She is 90 and she had a minor stroke. My dad is with her every day because the REHAB is only five minutes from their house…. but my dad is fending for himself. They live one hour and 15 minutes from me, so I travel (the Washington Parking lot --er, Beltway) to their house a few times a week. Anyway. I signed up for the Shake Your PomPoms Hop a long time ago, then mom had her stroke, then hubbs had his icky eye surgery and I had to do the unthinkable, UNsign up.
Then, last week, I just could not stand it anymore, peeking at all of your adorable pompoms.
I just had to make a puppy.

Her name is Pearl. "Hi Evrywon ❀ I'm Pearl and I am a girl"

She is pretty good.

Many hundreds of years ago when my girls were so little, we always had parties…
We were always inviting a bunch of girls over and making stuff.

Back then, I made this template for a pompom puppy out of thick cardboard, then a handy guy friend of mine cut out a bunch of them so the girls that came to our party could take home their very own template to make a whole litter!

The whole operation is: you put -- well back then, we used a sturdy "pipe cleaner" but I can't find anything sturdy like that so I used two "chenille sticks" twisted together. then you wind a whole bunch of yarn around those things, sew on each side of the Pipe cleaner to enclose the bendy stick, cut the sides and take it off of the frame.

earl is a sweet pup. I do need to warn her about Miles and Pierro….

Hide and Seek...."FOUND YOU"

No Vacancy...." Sure there is -I will snuggle right here"

She required A LOT of grooming. In fact, I believe I could easily be a certified dog groomer now, I could apply for a job at Petco. The contents of the can below is one squillionth of the snippings and clippings that she required...

Thank you for viewing my Pompom puppy here on Madame Samm's Sew We Quilt Blog. She is such a great encourager, even to the weak and exhausted. Additionally, the most generous thanks to Thearica for accepting my resignation last month from the PomPoms hop and then, poof. here I am. Thearica put a lot of work into this and it shows. All of your projects are so beautiful. She set all of you on fire with inventiveness! I adore the creativity that all of you are blessed with. I have been visiting your blogs on my iPad mini when I am at the REHAB center (bahaha that place is a circus, I do not wish any one to go to a place like this. Pandemonium, I tell you) I have not been able to comment though. The internet is only slightly better than the nursing staff at this place.

I miss leaving excessively long and chatty well deserved praise on your blogs. I am so happy to be able to share Pearl with you.

Love, Rosemary B

  1. Your little pom pom puppy is adorable! I kind of hate for my little project to post tonight!!! Yours make it look a little pitiful! I will have to get my dad to make me one of those windy things so I can make a puppy too! My grandkids would love it! Thank you so much for sharing with us!

  5. So sorry to hear about the recent rough patch and do hope everyone is getting better and hope you're getting a little rest. I know the toll having your mom in rehab can take on you and combined with your hubby's eye problems it sounds like you've had your hands full. Thank you so much for finding the time to make and share your cute little Pearl. I had a rough day today and the second I saw her a smile spread across my face......she's just what I needed to cheer me up.

  17. When I saw your wonderful creation, I thought it was a REAL puppy! How life like - well, she does have a life. I hope the crafting time was therapeutic for you. I find my crafts to be a great time of escape for me. I get so involved in a project, that I am just alone in my own little world. The Beltway is a challenge for sure. I haven't been in the DC area in years, but ...
Welcome to the blog hop! Thanks for taking time in your busy, busy world to particpate in the hop; be entertaining; spur us to be creative (I think each of us wishes we could make our own puppy); and be a pure delight.. I hope to see you in more hops.

  19. Rosemary, how good to see you participate after all the obstacles in your way. My goodness, you and your family have been through the mill. I hope things turn around for the ailing soon.

Your Pearl is adorable! I hope that making her helped take your mind off those things beyond your control. I hope too that Miles and Pierro will not be pulling at Pearl's coat. I think my cat would in a heartbeat!!

You snuck in on me and I am so glad you did! I am going to add this link to my blog post so everyone can see it.

Wishing your mom a speedy recovery!
