| My husband gifted me with this special cup! swavroski crystal not a diamond1 |
Who can tell you the exact day and year they received a single brewer coffee maker...?? I can!
4 years ago tomorrow, we moved into our new home, and we ordered our new machine
from Keurig the Breville model. This single cup brewing system was one of my favourite parts of my morning, it always served me up a perfect cup of brew. For 4 years it has worked perfectly. I love my coffee machine. You all know I love coffee soooooo much I did a paper on it, all the benefits on coffee. My husband and I wrote a couple chapters on the benefits of coffee in our book, I want it all! As Nutritionist, we know our coffee, and up till this morning, we knew our coffee machine too intimately. !
Ok, this morning, like all the mornings prior to 4 years ago tomorrow, I select my K-cup coffee, this morning it was Sumatra Reserve. I turn on my Breville Machine...not a sound, the lights all popped on....but no sound, not a peep. What I usually hear is the sound of the healing element, this morning nothing.... Notwithstanding checking to see if it is plugged in...check that is done, lights are on, check.
Touch the outside of it to feel the heat...NOTHING. It has passed on where all FATAL coffee makers go...
I panicked for about 7.3 minutes, plugged in the my kettle and made myself a TEA. lol
Then I put a call into Breville, the CAS there was just a doll, and she could not help but chuckle when I told her of the passing of my Breville. They are going to get back to us later today, with a special deal...
But that was not enough for me....The TEA starting wearing off, I thought.....I am going to call GREEN MOUNTAIN COFFEE, as a platinum member, ( you can get a free machine) ( been with them for almost 8 years) I shared with Mandy, my dilemma of no GREEN MOUNTAIN COFFEE this morning, because my Keurig Breville brewer bit the dust....She chuckled too....
She informed me they no longer have the Breville Brewing System, but they had the Platinum Model, I had that one prior to my Breville, I really wanted another stainless steel model... I noted this office Pro
Model....she placed me on hold for a few minutes...Returned with its a go...."we will have you brewing in 8-10 days)
"8-10 days...oh my goodness, what will I do" ..... David is back at work, he has the Platinum model in his office... He is going to bring it home till our New Pro Model arrives... And yes FREE, as a member of the Cafe Express Club, if your machine ever dies, they replace it with the same model or equivalent.... NOW that is customer service!
So my new cup above....will not be christened with any coffee
till tomorrow morning lol
p.s when I told David about Brevilles offer, he said depending what it is,
we just may get another machine so we have a PLAN B...lol

Our Keruig stopped working once and they shipped us a new machine. It was the longest two weeks of my husband's life. No one push button for coffee!!
ReplyDeleteI drink tea and love using the Keruig for the hot water.
Coffee-less is NOT an option!! Glad that you managed to get things sorted out. I have my old Corning Ware percolator for emergencies and have used it more than once. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Sam - you made me smile this morning. I totally get this post - from one coffee lover to another. Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you.... I stopped drinking coffee almost three years ago (and dragged myself through the next three headachy days....). But I do still remember that first glorious cup in the morning! My sister has a fancy coffee machine thingies (makes absolutely all sorts of coffee), so I do get to enjoy a cappucin.o or machiato every now and then.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will be drinking your favourite cup very soon!
Happy New year to one of my favorite people in the world! Hate you lost one of your best friends but everything goes wayward eventually. I like your hubby's idea... that way you can relish in the fact that this will not happen again. Enjoy your tea today! :)
ReplyDeleteThe horrors! I've heard a lot of wonderful things about Green Mountain coffee. Excellent customer service. Glad it's not dead like the coffee maker you had. Is there a coffee stand nearby?
ReplyDeleteSigned,
Spoiled in Seattle
Love it!! and I can so relate........I always have a spare just in case....
ReplyDeletewhen our power was off due to the tornado in April of 2011, that first morning I made a cuppa with the hot water still in our tank, lukewarm but still coffee...Daughter came by and said, Are you drinking coffee and I said yes, its not real hot but its coffee. Do you want some and she said, of course. After that morning, I realized I could make it with the pods on my gas grill in a glass carafe so I wasn't without coffee again.........I must confess that I don't own a one cup coffeemaker but it's on my wish list. Perhaps, I'll go shopping for a post Christmas gift. Enjoy your cup.
Mama Bear
Happy New Year and good morning Mdm Samm....I feel your pain this morning. I don't drink a lot a coffee, usually just one cuppa first thing in the morning....I luv my cuppa in the morning too. I luv your new coffee cup...a special gift for a special lady!!
ReplyDeleteNow I have to get back into a routine...with all the company from Canada before Christmas, going to Canada from the 23 to the 28th and then my sister and her husband came on the 29 and left in the afternoon on the 31st. I crashed after they left. I was pretty much absent from blogging in December. My goal this year is to finish 1 UFO before I start a new project. I didn't sign up for the 'In your Words' blog hop, as much as I wanted to join in...I was a wee bit burned out and needed a break. I will cheer the others on and work on my 'Darn to Dresden' project(s).
Congratulations on the 5000 follower!! Have a great day!! xop
Ooooh, My Dear!!! You are so sweet like a child:) Coffee,coffee...mammy... cooooffee!!!! I realy like your post:) You made me laugh:)
ReplyDeleteI tell You something...when I was pregnant I stopped liking coffee and I don't like coffee until today... Oops.
We have a Jura. Love it. When ours quit working, we bought a refurbished machine to use while the other machine was repaired. Now we keep the back-up machine in our trailer for coffee catastrophes. Must have our coffee infusion in the morning to function!
ReplyDeleteOh my...glad there is a replacement in the works! I do love my flavored coffee in the morning with my Keurig! Love the cup your hubby bought for you...a classy cup for a classy lady!
ReplyDeleteRosemary B here:
ReplyDeleteGood morning missie Samm. I love tea.... but it is nothing like coffee.
I love all of these coffee makers, we have the old fashioned drip, and cannot move on to the next step. I know, we will wait until son-in-law gets tired of his latest and greatest.
Meantime, I have been wondering when they will come out with the coffee IntraVenous. I mean, it is 2013.
happy snappy Mon- er, Wednesday
oh no! glad to hear you got some good customer service though!!
ReplyDeleteLOL Keurig is a Dutch word it means: Proper, Neat, Decent, Fitting, Suitable.
ReplyDeleteWe drink a lot of coffee, so I can imaging your panic, luckily rescue is on your way!
Happy New Year, m'dear! Catching up on what's happening in blogland....you might not "hear" as much from me for a while, but I'll be cheering from the sidelines! (Thanks for the tip you gave -- have found some resources and have a plan in place now. Prayers and a plan -- I can deal with that!) Much love to you! Wishing happiness, hope and healing for all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny story, I see you made 5000 followers, congratulations thats wonderful and well deserved.
ReplyDeleteLOL I 'AM' the coffee queen ;) We happen to have an old corning ware pot that I will never give up just for these moments. Even when power goes out we still have a gas stove and the old faithful Corning ware, because even though we live in a small town with no starbucks I WILL have coffee in the morning, tea just won't do.
ReplyDeleteum on another note. How do you think the last 10 people will know they are the last 10 people, just curious since I never knew I wasn't 'really' a follower.
:( Not a fun way to start a morning!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that there is still awesome customer service somehwere !!!
I am curious, how does one know what # they were when they signed up to follow a blog?

The "2 Carat" cup is fabulous! Every woman should have one (though the real thing would be more enjoyable.) I'm so glad you have a Plan B because I would imagine you might totally become a pile of mush without your coffee in the morning. LOL! I just got a Keurig and don't know how I lived without it. It makes my tea so fast...love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your machine but it sounds like the new one will be even better. I couldn't have even handled tea as a substitute. We are a brew a cup at a time cone people here and it's a vital part of the day. My husband and I were getting panicked this morning when we couldn't find the lid to our coffee grinder and then were so happy to learn the machine will grind without the lid crisis averted. Now where is that lid?!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you!!
I have been debating on whether I should continue to drink coffee or not, and have considered getting one of those one cup machines. I would love to read what you wrote about the subject. What is the book's title? Thanks, Teri

i just got a Starbucks machine from the Dh. Lets hope it has a long and healthy lifespan!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you found another one.
I'm sorry to hear about your coffee machine. I'm a tea drinker but my DH is like a bear with a very sore head if he doesn't get his morning fix. I tremble at the thought of the coffee machine going wrong. I'm glad to hear the problem is being resolved.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! That coffee mug is FABULOUS! I got a little Nespresso machine just before Christmas and love it. Me and coffee are a perfect match x
ReplyDeleteI know you invented a tea cozy, and your teapot seems to have been working just fine.. however did you create a cozy home for your coffee maker to reside in?? Poor lil thing expired of exposure!!
ReplyDeleteYou're too funny! I love the mug, I guess your hubs knows you :)
ReplyDeleteLove that beautiful mug!!
ReplyDeleteHilarious story Samm. :) And what a cup - love that! Just got home from my sister's at 4:00 this afternoon, changed quickly and went to Yoga class, home to shower and get into pajamas and I'm thinking I may not leave home again until church on Sunday. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain! That has happened to us too and we promptly signed up to become Platinum members of Green Mountain Coffee, too! (That was a couple of years ago.) I love my K-cups and would hate to have to resort to just brewing a big pot of coffee. I like mine a little less strong than my husband, who likes his coffee so strong it walks itself to the breakfast table!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love the cup!!! How sweet!
ReplyDeleteInstant coffee and a hot pot! I can't wait while a machine gets it's act together. I'd be on my third cup by then!
ReplyDeleteOh, dear, oh, drats!!! I feel your pain. Is there a Starbucks or Coffeesmith's nearby? Thank goodness, Darling Husband is coming to the rescue. In commiseration, I will drink an extra cup for you each day until your new pot arrives. :) Love...
ReplyDeleteOh, pooh. Forgot! What an amazing cup DH gave you. I love holding my coffee cup just like that which is perfect for that mug!
ReplyDeleteMaybe your coffee maker was programmed to expire at 5000 followers? Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Hubby to the rescue-he's a keeper. Love the new mug too.
Happy New Year!
We love our Keurig coffeemaker, too ... and Green Mountain Coffee. Good that you will have a back-up maker tomorrow while you are waiting for your new one to arrive ... <3 Pat
ReplyDeleteI feel for you! I CANNOT FUNCTION without my cup of coffee in the morning. I have a Keurig as well, and I LOVE it!!! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun gift - that is great. Enjoy your new machine when it comes. Sounds like it's all under control. Fun post. :)
ReplyDeleteOh NOOOOOOO. I work for a hospice, so I know that such things happen, but I will never, ever be prepared for the loss of my coffee maker. Mine is 3 years old so I live in denial. Worse, it was a gift, and will not be replaced. I am steeling myself to go back to the (delicious) previous method of french press brewing and giving up my immediate gratification . . . but not today. Surely not today.
ReplyDeleteLOL..I am so spoiled to mine. I can imagine your "angst" over the passing.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I couldn't continue without my morning coffee. I would be running to the local Starbucks for sure. Congratulations on having 5000 followers! Happy to be one of them!
ReplyDeleteAlways, always have a back up coffee machine!!! ;)
ReplyDelete40 years ago I had a single cup coffee maker. It was basically a filter that sat on top of my mug. Just pour on the boiling water. It actually made a good cup of coffee. I've seen a couple similar on the market today but they look cheesy so I don't know how well they work. I miss that little coffee maker!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Madame Samm! There is almost nothing better than that first morning cup of coffee. Oh and what a darling coffee cup. I think your husband has a great Plan B idea, hehe.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 5000 followers! I'm in good company, hehe.

Oh no. No coffee in the morning. That would just not do for me. Glad to read that you got a replacement fast. I worry about the day my Keurig stops working and you know that I'll be out to pick up a new on immediately if that ever happens, no stop to change into proper clothes, the store clerk will just have to assist me in my jammies.
