Day 2 of Books for Women By Women with Pesi Dinnerstein

This is the Author Pesi!
Hello Pesi, it is a treat to have you with us today...

Linda from Buzzing and Bumbling our cheerleader for IN Your Words Blog hop...
read this book, and here is her review...

A Cluttered Life: Searching for God, Serenity, and My Missing Keys
By Pesi Dinnerstein
This book was quite a surprise for me. I expected a book about organization and gaining control of the physical “stuff” in our lives. This was not a “how to” book, but the story of the journey of one woman, Ms. Dinnerstein, in coming to terms with WHY she was overcome by clutter and chaos.
I found myself relating completely to many of her enlightened observations. The abundance of “things” was often what fed her creativity. She put it all into words so well! I had never really pinpointed why I wanted the fabric in my quilting stash to be out in the open. I realize that it is about seeing all the colors, textures, and patterns around me that brings out my creativity. When I’m stuck for ideas, I browse gift shops and look through colorful magazines.  There is a definite connection between seeing and creating for some of us. Of course, hoarding is not a good thing and neither is chaos. She points out through her experiences that both can destroy the serenity and peace that we need in our lives.
I laughed out loud through many of the trials and adventures on her road to discovery. I found myself underlining many verses that really hit home.  She goes to her friends for advice and they each have a different way of trying to help her out, each drawing from her own strengths. She even joins Clutterers Anonymous with surprising results.
This is a book meant to be read like a novel. I think when you finish you will be left with much to really think about, whether your struggle is with clutter, your relationship with God, or your search for peace and serenity.  I found the book refreshing and entertaining.
Linda Winters

  1. This sounds like just what I need to read. Things never really fill that emptiness in our souls when things are just not right, but in our endless quest to fill that void, we end up filling our homes with so much clutter, that we can't see the forest for the trees. Thank you for sharing.

  85. Congrats to your winner! I work by the credo that if I don't see it, it doesn't exist. Hence, I'm in a constant state of clutter (or should I say mess). I have to have a lot of external stimuli to be creative. But as crazy as it is. There also needs to be a certain level of organization.

This might be a book to help me understand that need to keep things out and about. Lord know, I need a kick in the rear...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Clutter? What clutter? This is just re-organization in progress. Right. Both my house, and my mind. This book is a sure fit for your theme-books by women, for women. Thanks Pesi, and Samm and Linda.
