Last day of our Wicked Blog hop...and there will be BIRDS here! You like birds don't you? ohhhh and total pics 363

I noted some crows on my line this morning.....
Is it a SIGN? lol
( can you see the spider webs....now those I did not add lol)
pssst they did? lol
( you may want to tune int to  the school kids singing while you go through my blocks)

It has been 49 years when Hitchcock casted  Tippi Hendren as Melanie Daniels in The Birds... I remember as a young tot cuddled under a blanket with my Mumm watching this epic. I have been fascinated with The BIRDS ever  since.

Ohhh you came for my collection of Wicked, presented and hosted by our Wicked Wendy...who managed you all sew well- she kept you wicked, happy and organized..... Thanks Wendy....  and you saw all the other ladies I posted today with....ohhh good I am your last visit....are you ready....hope you like BIRDS ? Crows in fact!

..I got all swept up with the wickedness this season brings...come.... fly with me .....

I am blaming it on the fact that I may have watched
The Birds a few times before I set out making
some new blocks for Wicked...

and how can we have anything Wicked without a spider...?
ohhh and you may have noticed my spider is missing one of his legs..
One of THE CROWS  ATE IT!  eek...

It may have been this one...I know I am spooked too !
I have all the windows and doors locked today...
just in case!

This one might be a vegetarian...
He has been watching this one for sometime....

Clearly this witch is sew spooked she is hiding
under her hat...shhhhh let's not disturb her...

Ohhh the BIRDS got to her before she could get away...
Sadly the only thing  that is left of her is her dress.....
ok .....you can scream now lol

This witch cast a spell upon them...they could not see her...
but clearly they were watching her fly by.....
whewwww

These bats were safe.. I think the crows were scared of them !
Who ever saw green and orange spotted bats?

Now I have no idea why STITCHES here could not have
stepped in and scared them all away...

( all my fabric here for my very large pillow 24 x 24
I will send you the list of fabrics to make it if you like and direct you to the pattern
MINE was a Halloween gift)

The fabric choices were perfect... he is already to be sent to one of my
wee grandsons ( who named him Stitches- he had a recent fall and required a few stitches,
when he saw them on Carl, his original name...he immediately called him Stitches... )
STITCHES it is ...

, who thinks I am very wicked lol
( he told me  " NO CROWS PLEASE" )

As a gift for hosting this Wicked Event...
I made Wicked Wendy her very own wicked coin purse
Made from Riley Blake Designs Fabric and Appliqued by moi..
She will never forget this event....it really was WICKED...

( all of our bundles from Riley Blake Design will be in the next post)

something with CROWS but I thought this was
even more wicked.....your very own....

  1. I love crows, but oh my, the BIRDS was a scarey movie! I still get creeped when a lot of birds flock. Wonderful parade of blocks - and you are resting! Cute coin purse with the Ghastlies - which I just think are the bomb. I loved the Ghastlie hop, but most inspired by the Dots - was amazed on how many dotty fabrics I had as well as other quilters - what fun!

  3. The Birds was scary no doubt about that! Wicked was very good though my sewing has taken a backseat these days.

  4. I still get 'creeped out' by The Birds!!! Your blocks are just so much fun...love, love, love the witch under the hat!! Enjoyed all the hops so far but have to say The Ghastlies inspired me the most!!!!

  6. I love the movie The Birds now, but not so much the first time I watched it. I was babysitting for five kids who lived in an old farmhouse that mde lots of noises. I think I was spooked by that movie for the next couple of years, but gladly I outgrew that.

The Dots on Dots hop was really inspiring for me. I was amazed at the amount of "dotty" fabric that I began to notice in shops and more importantly, in my stash. I was also amazed at how easily they all went together.

I can just see the look on cashiers faces when that's pulled out. I think I liked Leafs Me Happy the most as I love autumn but it was followed closely by Dots on Dots. thanks for joining the hop and sharing.

  11. I very much enjoyed your wicked story blocks, especially the witch hiding under her hat and exposing her pretty socks! Your choice of fabric is very wickedly fine! The blog hops are my new best delicious distraction! We all need a quilty distraction! I was very inspired by the theme blogs: Bowls with Borders for the surprising number of people, including me, who actually finished their bowls.
Thanks, Carol! I was also inspired by Wicked, because of the amount of artistic license that so many participants showed! Thanks Wendy! Leafs Me Alone(Happy) was fun..love leaves! Thanks Madame Samm for your creative thinking! The coin purse is wickedly scary! I will miss talking that way!!

  12. One of the blogs I visited had a bowls with borders block. There is something aesthetically pleasing about a stack of bowls and I was drawn to the next blog and the next blog. I just had to find the full schedule and that is when I turned up at your blog and to my delight is was the mother load of blog hops. So I would have to say that the bowls with borders hop was the root of my inspiration. Joining the wicked hop was a bold step for me but I found myself so inspired by all the wonderful blogs I had visited through the other blog hops that an original wicked design just bubbled up and had to be made and displayed. I guess this means that it is not the particular theme that inspires me but the unity of purpose that is created by the blog hop concept.I hope to be quick enough to sign up for more blog hops next year.
I love all your wicked blocks but the pieced crow is the best.

    1. Fabulous as always Madame Samm, I love them all but I think my favourite is the witch with the hat and the boots and those lovely long legs - such great colours. I think my favourite blog hop has to be the red, white and blue one as that is where I first discovered all these hops and started my mini quilt addiction! Thanks for all your inspiration and encouragement!

  15. I love birds but not The Birds - too scary! Love all of your blocks, especially the witches legs and Stitches is wonderful, my son would love him. That is definitely a wicked purse beyond price for Wendy, it's wonderful. I am having difficulty choosing a favourite hop - they've all been so fabulous...I loved the Ghastlies, so many great ideas of how to use that gorgeous fabric and Bowls with Borders gave us so many different ideas for using one pattern. Leafs me Happy starred my favourite time of year so can't leave that one out and this latest wonderfully wicked hop has been huge fun - thank you for organising them, I love starting my day by hopping around :)

Love the way you had fun with the crows, though my favorite block is the one legs under the witch's hat! The hop that inspired me to get involved was the table topper hop. Since then, everything inspires me! Love your coin purses...very wicked! Thanks for creating a great hop...the creativity never ceases to amaze me when quilters get together for these hops. Thank you for your creativity and for leading all these blog hops. I have enjoyed them very much and it is not an easy task to choose the best one, but the top one for me is Bowls with Borders.

IF you tie me up and dangle me over your cauldron and threaten to put me in your soup IF I don't choose then I guess I would have to say that Leafs Me happy would be the one that inspired me the most... I love fall and every part of it and the blocks shown during the hop had me saving lots of eye candy to my inspiration files!

Now... Did you create the pattern for the witch on her broom?? She is sew wickedly darling!!! She reminds me of Samantha! I love her!! All of your blocks are over the top! I must come for a sew in so you can teach me to master paper piecing!

And that coin purse is to scream for! I have a play date with Marie and my mother in law next Tuesday to sew coin purses thanks to my friend who sent me extra hardware as a surprise!! They both will be my guest on my post in November. :)

  46. Oh I love all your blocks! I really love the witch hiding under her hat, those cute polka dotty bats, and Stitches of coarse!!! Oh the Ghastlies are a favorite too! What's not to love? I have gotten inspiration from all the hops...even the ones I didn't participate in because I read them all...hard to choose just one...maybe Leafs Me Happy because I love fall colors!

  47. I DO love birds, and witches hiding under hats, and 'stitches,' and poison apples -- oh my! Every Hop has inspired me! You and your hops are the reason I've started trying to quilt. DOTS was the beginning of my beginning to 'believe,' and LEAFS made me want it REAL bad, and the coin purse 'teases' pushed me over the edge. Every Hop just fills my mind to spinning with possibilities. Thank you so much!

  49. It is hard to decide. I guess my favorite is the one that is going on. I am still in love with the ghastlies, love the red, white and blue but if i have to pick one, i think it was the dots on dots. I never knew there were so many dot fabrics. There were even some fabrics I saw that I didn't even realize were dot fabrics. It was a great hop. Of course this one is wonderful with all the Wicked blocks, they made me want to make them all!

  51. The blog hops are all so much fun. I hopped in at Bowls with Borders and also anticipated the Leafs me Happy. I loved this hop, also. I think the bowls one was so much fun to see everyone take the same pattern but have their own take on it--so many creative quilters out there!

  52. The Birds was a perfect start for this Halloween day...Happy Anniversary! I love your Alfred Hitchcock block with the creepy, drippy blood and feather. Stitches, the headless witch, oh my! All of them totally set the mood for this wicked day. The Ghastlie's got me into my first hop, but with all the fun I've had with the others I can't just pick one as my favorite (though Bowls With Borders is up at the top.)

  53. Just watched that movie for the first time! My ten year old caught some of it and was do spooked! He and I saw a bunch on the lines this morning and both screamed and then giggled!!! Those blocks are so awesome!!!! I can't decide which hop I liked the best, please don't make me ;)!

  54. The hop that inspried me was the Table Toppers.......it was the first one I saw and what FUN!!! But I did not jump in to the pool until the Bowls and then I was hooked. The Leafs brought out the best in me, and Wicked, almost the worst (sometimes the ideas in my head don't end up as the reality)....BUT oh my, WICKED sure brought out the WICKED stitchiness of everyone else......I saw LOTS and lots of very inspriring things, one of which is Stitches, I LOVE him, please send me pattern link and fabric info.

  57. Samm your stuff is always over the top wonderful but you've outdone yourself this time! I love the feather block with the blood dripping - way cool. But the purses, I was just blown away by those. Makes me want to start making them right now. :) As for which hop has inspired me the most I think it was the Dots on Dots. I've enjoyed them all though so it's hard to say which one but Dots on Dots made me focus on fabric rather than a holiday or season. Ghastlies did that a bit but not like Dots did. blessings, marlene

We live in NJ and with all of the pain we are feeling right now from Hurricane Sandy this has been a great diversion. Samm you are extremely talented...I have enjoyed all of your blocks and I think they would make an adorable quilt. Each and everyone of your bloggers have inspired me. Halloween is my favorite holiday and quilting is my love. I will certainly be here for any other blogs you have in mind! Thanks! BTW, I loved the ghastlies!

  60. I think the Wicked hop has inspired me the most. I was able to choose 4 blocks I will most definitely be making instead of just admiring them or saying they are too hard for me (especially yesterdays crow quilt). I love your blocks you make me want to learn how to paper piece. Thanks for the giveaway. Vivian

  61. Samm as usual your blocks are perfectly beautiful. I went to see The Birds when I was a teenager and it scared the heck out of me so I haven't liked crows since.LOL This has been a fun hop as usual and I tried to visit everybody. I love the little purse you made for Wendy, wickedly cute. and I am looking forward to that hop. You know the hop I loved the most was last year when you did the ghastlies and all the creativity there has brought me back for all of the others. Thanks for challenging us Samm. Blessing Sandra

  62. It was spooky having the music play while i looked at all your creations! They are just wonderful!! Love your pillow and so will your grandbaby! The purse for Wendy! It has the Wicked logo on it! Amazing.
For me I was so inspired by the R/W/B Hop. So many blocks I want to try. Thanks for another fun hop and Happy Halloween.

  63. Madame Samm
You're the cat's meow! Your blocks are fantastic, as usual. I can't pick a favorite as it's like going to Baskin Robins and trying to select an ice cream flavor! I've enjoyed all the blog hops and the bloggers are all wonderfully inspiring and so creative, but I guess the true test is what I have made. I am in the process of making a reversible table topper for my son-in-law's mother. She has a round glass table, so I have decided to use a maple leaf block for one side, for the Fall, and a spider web block design for the reverse, for Halloween. So my inspirations has come from the Leafs and the Wicked blog hops. Thanks for all your hard work organizing and all the bloggers who helped make these hops so successful. As a retired Home Economics teacher I enjoy following blog hops because I continue learning and they challenge me to try new things.

  64. Something about Halloween brings out the creativity in all of us doesn't it? As ALWAYS, you bring the Cream to the TOP!! You have to be one of the most creative minded ladies I've ever known. I feel Blessed to have had you inspire my My goodness, I have to say the *Wicked* Blog Hop has had some of the most beautiful creations in my opinion...However, my favorite of all has to be The Ghastlies. After all, Penelope got us all in the mood to be a wee bit naughty. She has to be my favorite Fabric Character so far. I don't look at a Hammer in quite the same way as before "sweet' little Penelope.
You my Dear Samm have to be the most creative person or at least in my Top Five!! You always bring the cream to the Top with everything you make or Do!!!!! Blessings

  67. Well, well, you and Wendy made a real show of it, what great fun it was hopping along with all these Wicked ladies, thank you both for organizing this bloghop!
I am most inspired by the Wicked bloghop, I only discovered you a few months ago and took part in the Bowls on bowls, since then I hop along. We don't celebrate Halloween in Holland (Europe)of course there is some decoration with pumpkins, spiders and witches, but they are related more to the fall season, this bloghop was a cultural event for me, I enjoyed the tales told, memories shared and the blocks, wallhangings, pillows, runners and quilts made for this once-in-a-year-day. It was great fun!

  68. I believe Halloween invokes some of the most amazing creations, maybe it allows us to take the monsters out of closets and have some fun with them. Poke fun, if you will.
Thank you another spellbinding time, I just hope my frames arrive for the next HOP in time :O\
I would cackle with demented glee if the winner of your delightful coin purse was meeeeeee! Wheeeeeeee!

  69. Your projects are amazingly wicked (as usual really....). I love the birds, and the bats....and the witch...I want that dress.... This hop has introduced me to so many wonderful things about a holiday I only know from movies! I loved every minute of it (and NO, I'm not going to tell you just how many minutes I've been spending reading). I saw a lot of projects that I will definitely try. I've only been hopping for the last three hops and of those, (even after admitting that I loved all of them a lot) my absolute favourite has been the Leafs me happy one. So many gorgeous projects! I am looking forward to the next one!

  70. OMG! I LOVE your blocks ... and the coin purse! Just too cute.

This is my very first blog hop so I have to say this is my favorite. It's been so much fun seeing all of the fantastic projects from everyone who participated. My oh my, so much freakin' talent out there. I know I said that before, but I'm just in awe of everything I saw on this hop.

A huge THANK YOU to you, Wendy, and all of the talented participants for making my first blog hop a Spooktacular experience.

  71. Love all your blocks...especially that "Bewitched" one (it was a great show from my youth)! All hops are fun in their own way. The Red, White, and Blue one hit home with me the most, because I'm a patriotic and lean to the traditional side of quilting.

As for the blog hops that inspired me the most...the Leafs Me Happy (and the dots on dots). I missed even seeing the Ghastlies, as I hadn't discovered the hops until in the middle of the table toppers, and I only saw some of those. I joined in doing my very first hop during the red, white and blue.

They're all wonderful and I so enjoy the projects and creative things quilters come up with, but I'm pretty sure that Dots on Dots was the *most* inspiring to me. Sadly I can't compare it to any others as this was my first. Wicked would get my vote by default which doesn't seem fair. BTW I had a BIRDS moment I have to share. I heard a loud ruckus outside of the classroom one day and went to peek out the door. A large pine tree overlooking our room was FULL of crows. Immediately made me think of that scene from the movie. Spooky!

The crow is wonderful - what a great rendition. Thanks for the reminder of "Birds". That movie left me with an enduring emotion of fright that I've never forgotten - Alfred was a ace when it came to scaring people. Well, since you asked, yes I do think you're wicked but only in the most tender of ways. :) Happy Halloween and Happy Anniversary, too. I have just plain LOVED all the hops, Madame. I'm a bit late catching up but I finally got through all the hops and was able to comment on each and every one this time.

Honestly, my very favorite hop was The Ghastlies. I'm sure that is no surprise but it is the one that got me excited about hops in the 1st place.

I'm not into paper piecing so I didn't do the bowls and I now regret missing that hop and its challenge. Will try not to let that happen again.
