Fall leafs me happy for many reasons...305 PINS ( PHOToS)

Greetings all you AUTUMN LOVERS...

SEW we meet again...and I am your last stop...
I am aren't I?
I am sharing my day with all of these amazing quilters...
EACH one sew darn inspiring...
This hop LEAFS ME VERY HAPPY!
 AND
LOOK who I get to share my day with ...

Wednesday 10
Sew We Quilt ( yep that is me, Mdm Samm)

Fall is my season, I think because it always meant back to school and new
dresses ( ok uniforms) but I did have some pretty blouses underneath.
Today, well except for new dresses, I get new material..take
this lovely Charlie Brown fabric, gifted from a dear friend who knew
I just loved this fabric...
Sew I made this lovely dress as a reminder that it is the little
things that still make me happy....
( Imagine that 1/2 yard of fabric could bring such a smile)
I have lot's left over for another hop...wink...

I love fall because I get to wear wraps...just cool enough that a wrap
over the shoulders is just the comfort I need...

NOW my DH thought this was a bell..IMAGINE that...?
( ok I can see it now lol)
I could have smacked him....YOU do see a dress don't YOU?
( Made from some HELLO Sunshine, that we are giving away today)

Speaking of SMACKING, I made this 1/2 lip..he did not get it either..
He only recognizes the real thing lol....
My shade of lipstick in the winter btw!
What is yours? Do you still wear some?

( oh this is one of my new paper piecing designs...I made another...ok it is quite simple
but I designed it... lol)
ok, maybe it looked better as my drawing lol

Kinda of loses something if I have to explain it.lol
I think I will do a full lip next time

And when I think of Fall, I also think of pumpkins, and I always purchase at least
3 sizes for our front step..sew I thought I best do the same here...it will
look like nice in my PAPER PIECING quilt, when I am done...

And this one made with Riley Blakes Ombre Dots...well I just love it..this is a fairly
large pumpkin block...sew we called her Dotty!

And this one...I just love, made from Michael Miller's Cotton Couture..don't you just love
the shades of orange...kind of like stained glass!

And with all those pumpkins, I thought why not "CAN" some...using Joanne's tut ( on our side bar with VIP tuts truck)  for this paper piecing jar and finding some RBD fabric with RECIPE on it...I pieced it all together and look, pumpkin sauce...work with me peeps? lol

Ohhh look, I had enough pumpkin puree to make us a pumpkin pie with WHIP cream on top..
Does this not look appetizing... I do believe there was this other lady who also
made a pie PP...I think it was apple... I like PUMPKIN lol

This was my inspiration...Made from scratch with wee sugar pumpkins..
there is just nothing like it...I had a piece for breakfast...

Ohhh and speaking of Fall Harvesting...we got lots of corn to freeze as well...
Took all the corn off the ears..DID YOU HEAR THAT? and then
par boiled and froze them on sheets and then bagged them....

Sew if you need further explanation on anything...you can always call me...
if you hear a busy signal, I likely have it off the hook again....

( another of my new designs of a phone...needs some work...but you do sew a phone
dangling don't you ? LOL)

I get asked a lot about my photos...these were taking against my barn wood wall, I hung a
bacopa plant in front....I took the pics at sunset, around 5:30 pm..
I did not photoshop anything....the sun was on my back...

Or you can write me...I love mail...don't you just love this pattern...?
This was from Paper Panache, Linda had it in -one of her newsletters ( the mailed kind)
before she did them all online...

Sew these are all the reasons I love Fall...
ohhh and paper piecing ...I do love paper piecing...
Bet you all figured that one out?

Remember this...? These are some of the blocks I did
since June of this year to make a quilt at the end of the year..
I am calling it My YEAR in PP 2012!

OHHHH and this is for Cherry, when I found out she loved ORANGE too...I made her -her very own cuppa cozie...this was made especially for her, stuffed with bleached and processed goose down and she can cover her cold or hot tea and it will keep cool or hot for hours....
Found her an orange china cup too and a wee candle that is in shape of a cup....
A perfect thank you for hosting and cheering this event....Thanks Cherry..and thank you Friends
who hopped with us and sewed and quilted with us and our Sponsors, Connecting Threads....

THANK YOU!
 ( my watermark)
always nice to have them co -ordinating with our hops!

Ohhh and I thought...why not a
 COIN PURSE KIT to giveaway...
( this blog hop is coming up after Wicked with Wendy,
UR Priceless is next...times on side bar)
I have it all cut and ready to sew....
in FALL colours of course...

Everything you need to make your own UR priceless coin purse..

ARE YOU INTERESTED?

  7. Oh, my...you were very, very busy with your paper piecing. Love them all! Your pumpkin pie looks so yummy (both the PP and the real thing.) The stained glass pumpkin is beautiful and lucky Cherry for being the receiver of that cute little cozy. If there was a competition, which of course there isn't, you would win for the cutest pumpkins. How about a hop of black and white (and read all over--remember that childhood joke?), or some other two color theme.

    1. Oh no I am not competitive..I used to always tell me prof's I compete only with myself......well until you came along..you do challenge me....lol

  42. I too like the idea of an I Spy theme.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I Spy is a children's game. In a quilt it is usually made of a variety of novelty fabrics. So you might have a "frog fabric" cut into a hexagon shape on the quilt and you would say "I spy a frog" and the child looks until he/she finds the frog and points to it. Most I spy quilts are hexagons and can also have solid triangle shapes around the hexagons to look like a star. Anyhow there are lots of fabrics that you would include to play the game for the child.

Love the lips. I do not wear lip stick anymore but I used to wear a red/pink back in the day.

Well as for ideas, we did the dots, how about stripes? or corduroy hahahaha I was just looking through my huge stash yesterday of corduroy, yikes, but not as large as my stash of colored 100% cotton denim.

Can't begin to select a block from your fabulous contributions - love what you are doing with the paper piecing and believe you are becoming quite expert at it - can't wait to see which way you will go next. I have a wonderful sweet potato custard pie that I make instead of pumpkin - hope I can unpack my recipe in time for Thanksgiving.

It would be so much fun if there was a blog hop where everyone made a mini quilt that represented their blog name or blog and they would include the inspiration for their blog name. Someone asked that on a comment board recently and I was so surprised at how some of the names were selected. Can you imagine the creativity that this group is capable of? I think this is an opportunity waiting to happen - IMHO.

Absolutely great job to all the cheerleaders of these blog hops and to the future sponsor-prize winners (1)to all the participants, (2) to the ones chosen for Pinterest picks and (3) the ones who left comments on all the blogs and the best of luck on winning as there are some really terrific prizes from really terrific sponsors.

I haven't done much--Bowls with Borders was my first in several years. I do enjoy it and would like to do more, but there are so many great techniques out there--how do I choose what to do? I love applique, so anything with applique would be great. I also like to make (small) finished projects rather than just a block, so things like: (one or more) placemats, mug rugs, table runner (or rounder for round tables), purse or tote bag, laptop bag or ipad/ipod/nook/tablet etc. cover, tea cozy (love the one you made for Cherry!), pillows, needle book, pincushion, thread catcher, eyeglasses case, chatelaine, scissors case or anything that we can make and finish that is small and doable.

I love all your cute blocks and am looking forward to seeing the completed quilt someday too.

  85. The paper piecing is just too adorable. It takes time and I like it even though it is time consuming. Your dresses are very nice. Well, everything is great.

This is my second blog hop and I have enjoyed each of them. I learn lots from the hop and my to-do list grows exponentially. Everyone is so gracious to participate and share the indivual creativity. The collective creativity is overwhelming. As far as I can tell, all the official participants are female. The guild to which I belong does have male members. I don't know if any of them blog. Each participant is very giving of time and talent. Thank you ladies for all the work to put this together and keep it coordinated. Wow - you are fantastic and then you participate, too!

I'm excited about the coin purse. If I were a blogger, I would have considered participating. I'm not good with taking pictures yet, so... I would be thrilled to win this giveaway. The right person will win.

I would like to see a Pincushion Hop. How about a hop of (homemade) quilty things you'd like to see in a boutique at a quilt show? Shoes, dresses, purses, the alphabet, just one letter of the alphabet, flags, 4 patch, 9 patch, a given color. Our guild did a charm swap by color by month. One month was either lime or turquoise. I thought that was an odd choice. You might give a choice of color or say black and another color of one of two choices. Just brainstorming!

Again, your blocks are terrific and thank you for all you do to make the blog hops successful. I have enjoyed the two I have "read." Many of the blogs are so interesting that it takes me quite some time to get through a day's posting because I end up reading lots more of the blog than just that day's posting. I can tell the particpants think you are terrific, too! That says volumes about you!

OHHH you don't have to be a blogger to participate..that is why we have a blog for those who do not have one...if you can take pics and add some text..we do the rest for you...well I don't...the cheerleaders do...I used to do a lot all by myself...( where is my tissue) ...but now I have help..and without them...welll there would be no blog....lol PIN cushion like that idea.... there are a lot of ideas that we will do some polls on... all of them will be considered...I do have most of the year already booked with our sponsors... sew there you have it....
