I am serving up PAPER PIECING DOTS today...289 photos of dots

Hasn't this  been just a DOT heaven for all of us who love Dots...?
I will be your last visit today, sew I thought I would have you all
over for brunch later...Read on...but not before ...
 AN
enormous gratitude to  Corrie who cheered us on beautifully
and all  of our participants and visitors alike who cheered us on too......
YOU make every HOP sew darn special...

Here are the rest of the ladies I am sharing my day with...
brave souls they are to be with me on the last day...
(I have a special table ready for them lol)

September 21st
Bejeweled Quilts by Barb ( she is trying to load her post will be back soon)

SEW today I am serving up my collection of dots...
surprise there lol

First, call everyone you know, I have some delicious servings of Paper PIECING.
If you are not aware by now, I began paper piecing in June 2012 and ever since- I
have been rather smitten with this technique. I am hardly as clever
or good in designing like Joanna from Shape Moth..
( don't you just love her phone?)  But I do try....
( link for the pattern is above)

Ohhhh look my very first designed paper piecing pattern.  I love heels, I love stockings, and I love red, ( sew it seems).
See, I am not the expert, but I love challenges...kinda like walking in heels....Sew are you slipping
into my servings of dots ....? Ohhh you need something more formal  to wear, you want to bring a date......HOW ABOUT ...

3 neckties, YOU can choose which one you prefer...When I saw Corrie's sister
do something with ties...I went a searching for some patterns...
Ok, they are not perfect....( this was my 3rd attempt) thought I would stop here.
They look pretty good if you don't look too closely lol

Ohhh and since we will all be dressed up, I want you to dry your hands
on this lovely  t- towel. a pattern originated from Cups and Saucers book.

On the menu today I will be serving  some apples that I made into an apple pie....
Would you like a slice?  I just love dotted apples...don't you ?
( I am working on a whole quilt using these apples and all in diff't colours with embroidered
names of each variety)

OHHH look at my dotted crust pie...2 tones of dots makes
this almost good enough to eat..

And this crown is for all those who showed us how to do paper piecing
Elaine always comes to mind...Here is her tut, that got me
excited about paper piecing... I just keep practising...

Many of you been asking why BLOCKS?, this is why, depending on what
colour background you choose, YOU could turn all of your blocks
into a quilt...For instance....This photo has some of my paper piecing
projects, I think there are over 40 I have done sew far...
I am going to make at least another 10-15 more  by the end of the year , I will sew
all these lovely pieces together...add a border ( white of course)
and I am going to stitch in red and black all around the sides with
( the names of all the hops...red, white and blue, think christmas, bowls with borders,
dots on dots., leafs me happy and wicked......2012....)

This way I will have a quilt  of all the hops we have
done together and a reminder
when my memory may not be as sharp lol
Next year I just may do all applique.... a thought...lol

SEW this is what I will be doing with all of my blocks...
Have you thought what you will do?

SEW thanks for playing along...
I have loved every ......... project in this hop...

( I have one more project to share, it is something
for Corrie...she will know what to do with this)

WE will announce the winners of all of our goodies on MONDAY.

orange..but really this is almost to much for me....I need to make another orange quilt lol

Now this lady made some remarkable dotted blocks...but when I saw this, her feline
with this dotted hat...well it just brought out such a chuckle....
A perfect end to our hop...
"Are you kidding me, you are not taking my picture and showing
it on that BLOG HOP?"
(or something like that lol)

 and for our HONOURABLE MENTION...
( for a completed project)

This is alllllll dots...yes every block is dots...isn't it just striking?...this lady's
use of colour, nice choices, makes for a lovely beach blanket...

YES A perfect ending to a lovely dotted blog hop....

Opened your page and YOUR blocks are a delight! I adore them, I love the phone, and the crown and the shoe, and the neckties!! and the apple and the PIE how wonderful. Missie Samm you are the best, so inspiring, your first commenter is absolutely correct, you are one in 100.
Every day of this blog hop was phenomenal -- every one made incredible creations. I have learned much visiting these wonderful ladies blogs, and yes, now following them.
Corrie's gift is beautiful. I love the ruffled trim with the fancy red woooohoo so lovely.
She deserves it, my goodness she was very organized and it was a struggle for her to get my write up on that other blog....
Lastly, today's choices are lovely, LOVE the dotted squares quilt, and the orange lady is sooo classy in her hat... and MILES in his hat.. the reluctant star. He is orange mackerel tabby, and he lives up to that.
However, his mum was a show cat (cornish rex breed) and I think it is in his little furry genes.

Thank you for being right there where you are, Missie Samm, I am so glad I found you and your band of genius sewists!

And of course, leave it to you to design a paper-pieced pattern with a skewed (I don't mean wrong, I mean not full-on) viewpoint; I cannot recall anyone having the ability to do something like that. Your quilt will be amazing with all those PP blocks. I can't wait to see it finished. It looks so beautiful the way you have it laid out.

I want to thank you for an amazing blog hop. I have enjoyed seeing all the projects everyone has made. There were so many beautiful things to see and so many new people to meet and a lot of new blogs to follow. I saw familiar patterns used in different ways--like the Drunkards path with the owls and the turtles--the Dresden Plate with the turkeys and Janes' unique way of putting it together. I saw a lot of things that are going on my "to do" list. So, thank you, again and have a great day!

  78. Oh my - I am on creativity overload! I love the paper piecing patterns. I love the shoe. I used to be a shoe-aloic! Now, I can't wear much of a heel, but I still love shoes. I still have a few pairs for special times when I can sit and not have to walk much. I inherited that love of shoes from my mom - she had shoes and shoes and shoes even when we were very much in poverty. We didn't know that we lived in poverty because we lived on a farm and grew our own food and raised our own meat. Mom was a teacher and made most of our clothes. Her mother bought "remnants" for her to make us clothes, too. They just happened to have a remnant on sale - one that was enough for a dress for me and a shirt for each of my brothers or a dress for mom or a shirt for dad. That grandmother helped to keep us dressed. I love the apple, too. Well, actually what don't I love. I have been in love with this hop - I'm collecting fabric for a polka dot quilt and the inspiration has been wonderul. Last month our quild had a Pat Speth retreat. I had no idea what fabric to take, so I took some of my polka dots and have started on the first of many polka dot quilts - yep, I have lots of fabric - you know sometimes you can buy a fat quarter and sometimes you have to buy as much as a yard of fabric. I choose a shoo fly pattern. I got eight blocks made that weekend. Since then, I've done nothing else on that quilt. I've been pulled in another direction. This Wednesday, I became great aunt to twins - a girl and a boy. I had part of one of the quilts partially cut out. Thursday I finished cutting out the tops. The backs are pieced and are exactly the size of the front - so I'm going to have to alter them for longarm, since these will be the 3rd and 4th quilts that I'll longarm. It'll be easy as they are only in 3 pieces each for the backs. I should be able to figure that out - a math major! And my husband was a math major, too! Thank you for hosting and participating. This has been so much fun and I've had a ball. My husband and I are each disabled and it is like getting out of the house to be able to get online and see all this crafting. I appreciate each participant taking time to share their creativity with us and the other crafters leaving comments. Thank you very much.

I liked your take on the high heel - it was at a different angle which I liked because it accentuated the heel. Also loved the telephone - in a few years will the young people even recognize it as a telephone?!! My favorite was the apple pie cuz it looked good enough to have a slice right now! Look at that tablecloth - perfect. Corrie is going to love the pillow; the ruffle with red dotted trim is outstanding. Cheers, Madame Samm.
