A theme is evolving over here! New Sponsor announced for UR Priceless!

Many of you have already started your coin purses for
our Blog HOP in November for UR PRICELESS,
hosted by our cheerleader in residence Katherine from Sew me something good
She is sew excited btw....

WE are full- to capacity over 105+ WOW!

When I first announced this blog hop I showed you this
coin purse with Kelly's frames....( IHAN) ( below)

(she has many in stock) .
A great one to start with
and when YOU want a diff't fancier purse handle
Corrie will be carrying the Heart handle above.

( these will be arriving in October)
Corrie also has the fusible fleece you will be needing for these...
SEW I thought I would make you one up this weekend to show
you that one... ( this frame btw fits perfectly for the same pattern
that you all were sent -those in the blog hop)

OHHH I have heard from many of you, that YOU found
the pattern easy to follow..that is good news...

SEW....this new one above with the heart handles...

This was made from Andover Fabrics
who happens to be our sponsor for this event...
This is from this new collection..
We just love Andover Fabrics, wait till you see some
of their newest collections.

( take a peak at the whole collection)
it will have you hopping!

I wanted to show you what you could do with
different prints...
through the next couple of weeks...
I will show you a few more sneak peaks...
( I plan on making a few...did you hear
that Carol ? lol)

 On the HOMEFRONT.
I seem to be leaning towards a theme
in my home surroundings too...
This is what I did this weekend....

( I washed the door before painting
that is why you see streaks..this paint
was flat finish..a special paint
that some local Amish made for us)

Our home on the outside is all taupe , in a variety of hues...
Sew a black door really popped from our curb....
But then I was thinking why not RED for the Winter MONTHS...
This is the same RED that I used for our outdoor benches
in our backyard...FIRE ENGINE RED....

I think I like the RED, yuuuuup a theme is evolving over here...
Lot of love in our home...I think this suits us both to a T.

And speaking of RED..apples are red....especially PAULA REDS
and this is what I made with 1/2 bushel of apples..

Made 12 Saturday, now our freezer is filled with 24 apple pies
and 18 apple Brown Bettys..
Such a treat for my DH when he comes home on those cold winter
nights and opens the door to PIE PIE PIE...

This recipe is very easy...fill up a pie tin plate..( only because they are less
expensive than glass) slice about 8 medium sized sliced apples..leave
peelings on..that is where the fibre is...
Fill the plate , don't add anything else...except the following..

IN a separate large bowl add 4 cups of quick oats,
1 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar
1 pound of unsalted butter...
Mix in a blender or by hand...
Cover over each pie dish...Wrap with plastic
put in freezer till ready to use..
Preheat over 375 for 20 min, 350 for 30...
That is it!

TOTAL cost of 1/2 bushel apples, oats, butter and brown sugar.
$25.00 ( canadian)  for 12 pies...average cost. $2.08 per apple brown betty...

( by the way from start to finish cut apples, make crumb, cover and freeze)
1 hour and 2.3 minutes..
( and you wonder why I love to bake and cook and can sew much)

My Shadow Sumantra, was not too eager when I asked her if she wanted something red
to match our theme....LOOK at those eyes!

Today, I have some homework to do for school
and during my 23 minute breaks. ( how do I get everything done...take a peak
at that timer on the side bar)

..I just may get
some blocks done for our blog hop that begins
next week..
LEAFS ME HAPPY with Cherry...( that is RED) lol
Her name and button ...yes....

  3. I love the red door! I've had a red door before and it was my favorite!!!I think it would be gorgeous with a taupe exterior!!!(And with all those white flowers you have.)
Great minds think alike! I made the same thing this weekend, but my recipe calls it "Apple Crisp". My mother used to make it for us when we were little. I sprinkle a little cinnamon and a few drops of rum over the apples first, but that is my own addition. (I don't drink rum, but I love to cook with it!It gives apple pie a wonderful flavor, too!)

    1. HI Linda...we have had many red doors..but I think this one is one of my fav colors...cause from the street..you notice it lol and yes with all of our white flowers it just pops...ahhh apple crisp..yes I think some call it that too...apple brown betty was something we called it after a friend of ours Betty is her name..go figure...made the best one I had ever tasted....She said she always called it that...not sure of the origin..I always thought it was because of my friend Betty...rum sounds like a nice addition..I dont' add anything to this one..because the apples are sew perfectly sour/sweet.

  4. Love the red door!

I worked for a doctor and his wife twice a week in their home for 9 years and every year we would make apple pies for the freezer. This brought back those happy memories of Margaret and I having fun together. :)

  5. Oh, I ♥♥♥ those ♥ coin purse closures.
And the door... Love it! The door at our previous house was "reddish," in that the color was called oxblood. A bit darker than yours now. And the door at our home now is deep forest green. I love a painted door.
The Apple Brown Betty looks yummy! What a great recipe and time saver... and did you get vanilla ice cream yet?

ahhh ah green door would be nice..maybe next spring I will do a granny smith apple green lol...
and no ice cream YET lol

  6. You're an inspiration! My little boy and I went apple picking this weekend and now I am staring at many bags of apples in my kitchen. I usually make apple pie filling and freeze it, but I am really curious about the Apple Brown Betty. I have had it with the bread cubes and I think I would prefer this recipe better. I didn't know you could freeze it without treating the apples! They don't get brown and mushy in the freezer? I have a ton of apples and an empty deep freeze. I'm looking forward to trying this. Thanks!

    1. Nooo not all ( browning) when you place them frozen in preheated oven, they just bake like a pie...their taste is unbelievable...and this is much less fat than a pie...although around here, for the little sweets we indulge in..this is that ..a treat... Bread cubes we call that bread pudding..this is much better and crunchier....

  11. Rosemary B here today :-)
Well, I LOVE RED. It has always been my very favorite color. RED RED RED

I got the purse pattern, I read it, I actually transferred it over into Mac Pages, printed it out on 13 pages, then because I am a huge nerd, I placed the pages in plastic page protectors and now they are prefect in a cute little ring binder.... a red one, yep.
I am gonna get started because I already have piles of fusible fleece (mm-hmm the Pellon 987F or whatever it is called, it is the right one :-P) I buy fleece whenever I have a 50% off coupon so I have my very own fabric store right here LOLOL I have everything HAHAHA

Sumatra is a cutiepiepuff and I bet she would wear a little red crown. I am thinking about putting some heavy duty elastic on the Miles and Pierro's crowns, so they don't lose them ha.
Now I want to make RED crowns....
I hope you are having a marv day. I just went on a huge long walk around my neighborhood (we live in a park with loads of woods and paths), now I need coffee, then... I am thinking about making one of these purses right now.... even though I have chores and piano, but yes, I will set my timer and get it, ALL OF IT, done and done

happy Monday Missie Samm, and Happy Autumn too
