Guest #46 with Corrie and her Speedy Monkey to the Rescue and giveaway of Cuddles

In the midst of the
sew a paloozas,
block parties,
retreats,
and stitch a longs,
sometimes,
I -- Corrie from Quilt Taffy
need a project
I can get done tonight!

Enter Speedy Monkey to the rescue!Just grab your favorite panel, large print, or novelty print,
throw in some squares and you're on your way.
It calls for forty 5" squares around the edge,
perfect fit for a charm pack.

It finishes at 45"x54".
A great size that will grow with baby.
Actually, I use my son's as a TV blanket. :)
We also use this pattern a lot
for our church humanitarian quilts.

This main panel is 34.5"x43.5"
so you need 1.25 yards. Cut the main panel & you
can use the excess for squares.
Add the skinny red inner borders.
Lay out your squares, make sure of which way
& where they are going.
Sew 2 rows of 8 squares (for the top & bottom),
sew 2 rows of 12 squares (for the sides).
Be very aware of directional fabrics.
:)
Sew the strips to the edges.
Simple, right?
With the help of Michael Miller's
Super Heroes fabric line,

you can whip out a fantastic quilt top in no time.
Next, just decide if you're quilting or tying it.

The free Speedy Monkey
pdf pattern is on our blog.

LinkFabric & Kits are available in
Quilt Taffy etsy store.

  17. Like you Madame Samm I was reading Corrie's post thinking about what fabric I could use to make that quilt. I have a couple of yards of large scale prints that I have been hesitant to cut up that would be perfect. It's a hard choice on the two cuddles. I love Olivia, for me!, but toy chest I could make 2 cuddle quilts for my two young grandsons. So I guess either would make me happy.
