# 16 Guest ohhhh LISA is here with ....Love You, love you too Embroidery?

Hi everyone, I'm so delighted to have been asked by Madame Samm to contribute to this wonderful blog. My name is Lisa and I design embroidery patterns, they are the traditional iron-on type but with a cute and quirky twist, you can check them out at lazymay.co.uk

I have only dabbled with quilting in the past (there is so far one half finished quilt to my name!) but having seen some of the examples on these pages I am truly inspired.
Today, I have a couple of patterns to share with you the first has been designed for pillow cases by I am sure could easily be adapted for quilts or any number of crafty projects. The second I have designed as a 3" square so, hopefully, ideally for embellishing quilts!

I love you pillows:

Stitch up these pillows in a colour to match your bedroom decor and you will have a simple romantic gift in a flash!
Firstly, click on the image below to download a full size version of the pattern to print.

And then click here to open full instructions on transferring the pattern to fabric and completing the stitching!

'I love tea' hoop square:

Being an English girl there is nothing I love more than a 'lovely cuppa tea', it is not a cliche, absolutely everything in England is resolved but a good hot brew! To celebrate the fact I have designed this little tea cup, mid stitch!

Again, click on the image below to open a full size version that will print 3" x 3".

Then you can transfer your printed design to fabric by using any of the following methods:

Using a light source (window!)
After printing out your pattern place a piece of tracing paper over it and trace over the lines with a dark coloured pen or pencil.
Now stick the tracing paper to a window using tape, then tape your fabric over the top of the paper. You should be able to see the lines of the pattern through the fabric.
Trace these lines on to your fabric, you can use a pen or pencil but it is a good idea to use a water-soluble embroidery marker, this way the lines will fade over time or be washed out.

Using carbon paper
After printing out your pattern tape your fabric to a hard, level surface. Place the carbon paper coloured side down over the top of it.
Now tape your pattern over the top, make sure none of the layers can move.
Take a pen or pencil and trace over the lines of the pattern firmly. Make sure you can gone over all the lines before removing the top two layers.
Dressmakers carbon paper is ideal for this as it comes in many colours, including white for transferring designs on to dark fabric.

Or finally by using an iron on transfer pencil

When you've printed your pattern place a peice of tracing paper over it and trace the design with a pen or pencil.
Now turn the tracing paper over so you are looking at a reverse of the design and trace these lines with an iron on transfer pencil.
Tack the tracing paper to your fabric iron on transfer pencil side down and press with a hot iron.

Which ever method you choose you are now ready to get stitching. In my opinion there are no hard and fast rules with embroidery, just thread your needle and have a go, but if you are new to embroidery and want some extra guidance check out the stitches page on lazymay.co.uk for a few basic guides.

I really hope you enjoy the patterns and make some cute stuff.
Take care, Lisa x

  18. Hello from North Carolina! I am signing in for Allie Coburn, the wantobequilter who is sponsored by SewCalgal! She needs an iron for her work station in my sewing room!

We went over to Lisa's pattern page and have chosen Magic Fairy Land! Just this morning Allie's mommy showed a photo of her baby sister all dressed up like a princess. If you get anywhere close to Allie, you might wind up with a crown on your head and a wand in your hand. She loves to play fairy princess dress up! She even makes her dog play dress up with her and parades her down the street! :)

We have subscribed to Lisa's newsletter and are waiting for our email to verify it. We also follow here with you Madame Samm!

We also sent the Reliable company a thank you email!

Please put Allie's name in the drawing! :)
