Hi, I'm Kelly Jackson and I'm in over my head!

What on GGE (God's Green Earth) have I gotten myself into now? I'm such a "yes" person that when I was asked to be a guest blogger here on Stash Manicure I said, "sure, why not."

Now I hopped over and read the other recent guest blogger posts and I want to crawl into a hole and hide. I certainly hope you are not disappointed to learn I'm not a quilt designer. I'm a notions gal....I review sewing and quilting notions and write about my experiences on my blog, IHaveANotion dot blogspot dot com and I have a on-line shop, IHaveA-Notion.com

I wish I had some fancy schmancy wild newfangled jaw droppin' smack your butt technique or design to share with you....but I'd have to steal one and lie about it being mine. Way too many people know me and I can hear my phone ringing off the hook now....so I will just tell ya the truth; dang....there goes the good story.

Oh but wait, I did have ONE moment of genius once....it was the night before I left for Spring Quilt Market in Minneapolis and I needed a camera strap.

Ta Da....my moment of genius!!  Without using a pattern I made this camera strap using the Double Diamond Ruler and  RocLon Multi-Purpose Cloth.  Yep...proud as peas I am....no pattern....no advise....just used what I had and even managed to select the fabrics.

I bet those of you who don't know me wonder how I started reviewing notions, books, patterns etc.   Or not....but for those of you who do....I'll just tell ya:

Two years ago this April, I opened I Have A Notion and in May I went to Spring Quilt Market in Pittsburgh.  I walked in the doors there and I felt electrified.  See for yourself.....

....yes sir-e-bob I was "charged" by all the creative energy in the place.  I wanted to know everything about everything and I spent 3 days doing my best to learn about anything people were willing to share with me.  I was in "the zone" and happy ....actually joyous better describes it.

By nature I'm a little skeptical and I don't trust "advertising" per se' so it has been an important part of my journey to try things for myself and share with others what I've learned.  I've never had a hard time telling it as I see it....just ask my husband....and the IHAN (acronym for I Have A Notion) blog followers.  I'm always open to learning about other people's experiences and enjoy the connectedness I have encountered through blogging.  Feel free to visit anytime and leave me a comment letting me know you dropped by.  I have may product reviews listed on the sidebar of my blog and you can search my blog posts too for more information.

I'm posting on my blog today as well....feel free to stop by and read my post about "Passing The Sacred Orb."  I guess that is enough info about me....I'll close by attaching some photos of projects I've had the pleasure of making.

Sampler Quilt "Many Hands"
Coil Bowls

"Circles Quilt"
Hawaiian Applique wall hanging
"Crayons" quilt for my son.
Table Topper for my Mother In Law.
This is a Green Fairy Quilt Pattern by Judi Madsen...it went to a child in Romania as part of the Green Fairy Quilt Charity.

Oops...this photo is a pre-finish shot....oh well... you can imagine it finished right?  I did finish it...this photo was the wrong one.
Table topper made in a class I took from Linda Poole.  By the way....she's a great teacher.
Sizziling Circles pattern by Lacey Hill, Golden Thyme Designs.
Ok, now these are my most favorite socks ....polar fleece socks and I actually custom fit them to fit my feet....I love, love, love them :)

Madelene, from Workiung Wall blog, finishes her posts by saying:...if your still reading....thanks for the company!  (I'm gently borrowing her close....I wanted to steal it...and lie....next time :)

Smiles,
Kelly

  10. Good Morning Kelly, I see you found your way and I will not be visiting you with those marshmallows lol. And I too read each word. Variety is what makes this blog sew interesting and may I say, you were a delightful addition, notions and all. Particularly the socks...I adore the quilt that went to the child in Romania...no doubt a treasure to her...as U R to us.

  16. I love your posts! It is good to have someone try out products before you buy them.. my question to you is... do you buy all of the products you try.. or do the companies send them to you to try and do demos etc.? Do you search out the products or do the companies now find you? okay.. more than one question LOL.
