  4. This song truly makes me cry as we heard it before my mother went to be with Jesus a year ago in November. She had literally worn out a pair of shoes as she had several strokes and had this one pair of special shoes that were comfortable to her. Thanks for playing and bringing back bittersweet memories.

  11. What a classic!! I'm surprised at the number who have NOT heard this song?? It's played on the radio ALL the time. I have a picture in my head of a little boy and the store he's in is a 5 and dime from my childhood, G.C. Murphy. We apply our own memories and images to songs we hear, books we read, movies we watch. It's how our brain makes connections. When I read a book, the locations and settings are all from some place in my past or present. Do you do that? Have a movie in your head? Then when you see the movie, you're often disappointed?? As a Reading Specialist, I tried to teach poor readers to make these connections because if you ask most of them, they have absolutely nothing going on visually in their mind. Once they learn to do that, comprehension jumps exponentially.
A little "reading instruction trivia" for some of you trying to help your children or grandchildren with reading comprehension.
