I'm just saying 2011 - Sew we Quilt ! Behind the Seams!

Yes, how quickly one year rolled into another..
Happy Happy NEW YEAR...
and with that a NEW LOOK,
but before I share all the goods on this one...

I would like to take this time to thank all those
who were in our December Banner, left to right,
to Wendy, for your gotta have it shoes, to
  Michelle for your delightful Wreath,
Ariane for your whimsical  Santa,
Carla for your irish chain,
to Elizabeth for your seasonal quilt.
You were all winners, and it was joy
to come in every day to be embraced by
your talent...

When I am gathering all of your quilt photos.
there is always ONE that stands out for me..the one I blend
all others with...Decembers was Wendy's...
Your whimsical booties did it for me.
sew with that said
you are the winner of this collection
from Shabby Fabrics who is our sponsor
for Banner quilts each month.
You have won this collection
called Parisvile Ocean..
Lucky lucky you...sew well deserving!

Thanks to all who entered, all those
who were in our banner and always
to our Sponsors, today Jennifer
at Shabby Fabrics who always surprises
us with amazing giveaways...
Thank YOU!

OK, now for our NEW LOOK!.
( stories behind their quilts will be in tomorrows post)
along with a NEW YEARS giveaway winner)
mmmm who's quilts do these belong to?

Behind the SEAMS...

What I have noted since I took over the
1st of OCTOBER, 2010
was we all love to see each others stash. But there is
sew much you can do with managing it and with
Teresa's stash cave which brought us all to a HALT
in a WOW way,  I noted right after that
 we were kinda of stuck...
( where do you go from here, how much
more impressed were we all going to be
after that? NO tell me...lol)
Love ya to bits Teresa, many thanks
actually for giving me an AHA moment...

(when inviting guests from the past who posted
their answer would be.." I have nothing else" lol)
That spoke volumes for me, we have to give them
more to talk about than just their stash.

( oh and please let me share with you had it
not been for Rae Ann and Stash Manicure
debut, we would not all be here for today...
Sew a big thanks goes out to her and it
is indeed Heart Felt)

Sew I brought forward new guest speakers
who showed tutorials, trunk shows, stories about the
quilts they have made, comedic quilters like Nan,
...And WOW, the reception
was overwhelming. YOU commented more frequently,
you wanted to see more, I wanted to see more...

Sew WE Quilt
at Stash Manicure, makes perfect sense to me..
I am listening, I am watching and I am acting....

This year you will be welcomed to contribute:

tell stories about why you made a special quilt...
We all love to hear those stories...

We will have many new tutorials on quilt blocks, table runners,
 mug rugs, small projects...
when we had these- again- comments soared...
I know you noted it if you were a guest speaker...
what applause I heard...

More comedic and entertaining guests who will
have us all questioning..can we really staple that quilt to our wall? lol
( goodness me Nan can bring the chuckles)

Trunk shows from the privacy of our own homes, it is inspiring
to see where you came from and where you are now in your
quilting endeavors.
(Millies comes to mind- again- comments soared)

We will have MUG RUG contests,
Small quilt contests, prizes for best in show, most creative,
and worst...or shall I say, good effort lol..

oh and GIVEAWAYS, you have seen
nothing yet...We embrace new Sponsors monthly, and their
gifts are very generous and I get to share them with all of you....
( which was evident over the holidays...
we had 14 days of giveaways
Remember lol)

Sew you see, a NEW YEAR brings some new direction.

SEW WE QUILT
that is what we do!
This is who we are...after all is said and done
at Stash Manicure, we want to hear
what you would like to share...

Be it new gadgets, new finds in the fabric world,
new designs of your own...
This is YOUR BLOG, what do you
want us to KNOW about YOU?

Step forward, share with me what you
would like to do as a guest blogger...
I will supply a date..even serve  you a cup of tea...
( I will have a good strong coffee lol)
( Ok, enough operational  stuff, isn't it time
for a year end, month end giveaway?)

Will you look at this GIVEAWAY...
I know kinda of takes your breath away..

Ok, YOU must be a FOLLOWER
(take your mouse, over to the right, where the follower
button is and click...yes you've got it)
Leave a comment, of course you will.
Tell me, oh please tell me...
As a guest blogger in 2011
what will you be sharing with us?
( ok, that should do it)

Our month end giveaway is NOW..
this tote from MICHAEL MILLER is filled
with 19 fat Quarters from the Ginger Blossom collection.
Thank you Micheal Miller!

They are our  NEW SPONSOR and have sent
some delightful Fat quarter bundles...
Ohhhh my is all I can say...
Oh Yeahhhhhh!

oh forgot to add, draw will be NEW YEARS DAY!
Happy New Years!

P.S. The answer for Mom at coxwill dot com
YES the WINNER will get the TOTE and
 all its CONTENTS...I know lol...
Ü
Editor note ( that is me silly)

I would love to add, those who do
not have a blog, you quilt right?
Ok, you can be a guest POSTer...
Why not? You have quilt stories in you,
why should that stop you..
No, it won' and shouldn't, sew please
if you want to, step on up...
We are most interested.

  3. Curious and eager to see the new changes to this blog. I am impressed so far. When the blog began, I wondered how long we could look at quilter stashes, and what would happen when the saturation point was reached. I love the direction things went after that point, and I love that this blog is written quite literally by the readers. It is a very impressive achievement!

  4. ooh yummy yummy yummy... your plans for the blog of the future sound fantastic! Thanks for the blog AND the giveaway...

  7. I love the new direction of Stash Manicure. We seem to have a lot of diversity in our quilting world; and though we gasp and awe at the "cave", it was a real pleasure to get the grand tour of trunk shows, what to do with those mangled strings, and just enjoy a funny chat. The new banner (think I recognize a few) looks so representative of January and the New Year. And MM - wow - love the basket, but full of goodies would mean a sharing basket for sure. So a toast to all you quilters, MSamm, sponsors and guests - a brilliant New Year.

  44. Love the new banner! Yes. I like to see blogs about small projects like mug rugs, pot holders, hot pads, table runners, etc. as well as quilts of all sizes. I can't get enough. They give me ideas. As I read blogs in blog land, I have noted many individuals that make pillowcases, rice bags, quilts, etc. to donate. I can remember a guest blogging "angel" on Stash Manicure that made comfort quilts. Perhaps we could hear more from these kind angels that sew to comfort individuals facing difficult times, kind angels that sew and are "making a difference".

  61. Froehe Silvester! (Happy New Year in Deutsche)

If I were to be a guest blogger I would post about the crazily scrappy beautiful quilts I made for Christmas presents this year AND possibly some of my really scrappy baby quilts (honestly, I really haven't ever done a non-scrappy quilt) - a great way to cut down your stash! And because the pieces were used based on color, you can really cut down on your scraps in a few different colors at once!

  62. Happy New Year! Thanks for all the inspiration, and the great giveaways - I think this one's the best yet and sure hope I win it! Thanks for the opportunity!

I've been quilting for more than 25 years. . . and have taught for more than 12 years. . . and I love to talk --- you might find it hard to stop me once I get going!! LOL

  101. Looking forward to all the fun! I would love to try to be a guest blogger, but I am not very funny, nor do I manage my stash. I do little manicuring, and more procuring of stash! All the quilts in the December banner were wonderful!! Congratulations to the ladies and Wendy! The new 'blue' look is chilly, just like the weather!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I, too, love the new direction of the blog. Seeing all those organized people just brought about depression (and guilt) over the lack thereof. I like the changes made the last month or so - keep it up.

I'm not sure yet, what I would blog about if I were a guest blogger but I will give it heavy thought because I would love to be one.

    Hugs - Marie

  111. Looking forward to all the exciting things you have planned for 2011! I'm not sure I'm ready to be a guest blogger. I do like to peek into sewing spaces and see how people organize their space as well as learn new things. I find blogs to be quite inspiring! Wishing you a healthy, happy and safe new year!

  112. I always learn something when I come here, I love seeing everyone's stash.

  113. Anyway, I just wanted you to know how inspirational your visit was. Only a couple of weeks before you stopped I had told my husband that I was putting away my sewing stuff that since we moved I had been so tired and so consumed by the property that sewing had just become another chore to do. I went through my stash and gave alot of it away. I packed up my sewing room and felt a great relief. Then you stopped by. I truly believe things happen for a reason and I'm sure you were meant to visit me.
After seeing your beautiful quilt I couldn't stop thinking about it. Then I started visiting your blog. Then when you took over Stash manicure I followed. All the while I started to thirst for sewing again. So once the property was put to bed for the winter I started to sew. I have bookmarked sew many patterns, ideas and inspiration I can't wait for each day to tackle something new. I am definitely working on rebuilding my stash.
So I just wanted to say thanks!
    Have a Happy New Year!

As a new quilter, I'm very eager for more education, and I always get that here. You just can't learn too much when it comes to quilting, and that little tidbit of input is so exciting and rewarding. The prizes are quite lovely as well, and this prize is WOWZERS!

  144. I am a follower and am so excited about the new ideas and things coming up this year. I"ve found so many neat blogs by reading the guests here - I especially love the funny ones. Many thanks to all the bloggers for sharing your creativity and inspiration. The gift is lovely - thanks for the chance to win. Also - if I were to guest blog I would talk about keeping a journal/list of the quilts and projets you make throughout the year. At the end of the year, reading back through the list, you'll be amazed at what you accomplished - I know I was. A happy, healthy new year to you Madame Samm and all the quilters out there in blog land. Piece....

  145. Ooooh, love that prize! As a new quilter I don't have much of a stash to manicure quite yet, but I still do find great tips from the gals who have built stash and are now learning to manage it! I have no opinion on how to change or improve your blog because every time I come I am inspired or enlightened or brought to a chuckle in a new way and am always leaving with a smile! WELL DONE, you!!!!

I have learned so many new things, been inspired to tackle projects I might otherwise thought to involved for me, and along with everything else, had a few good laughs (a lot actually}. Thanks for everything, and thanks for a fabulous giveaway to start the new year. Hip, hip, hooray!

  148. I just recently found this blog and what and inspiration it is. I can't wait for the New Year and all the fun. Inspiration is the key for me. I love seeing all the trunk shows.

I actually have a quirky trunk show kind of thing. It's more of a collection. I collect and use vintage printed Feedsacks in my quilting and other projects. If anyone is willing to hear about them I would gladly show pictures.

  158. Obviously a favorite daily blog with some of my very very fav bloggers contributing to it

I think it would be interesting to contribute an entry from the standpont of a new quilter and creating a stash from scratch in these tough times without wasting money

madame samm - you are doing great, sweetheart. I really look forward to spending 2011 here

  159. I love the new look - very wintery! Thanks for all your hard work on bringing Stash Manicure to a new level and to Raeann for getting it started. If I were a guest blogger, I would talk about how SM inspired me to get back into quilting and sewing, finish some UFOs, get my stash organized so I can start manicuring and even start a sewing blog (which only has a few entries so far, but many floating in my mind). Thanks for creating a wonderful spot that I come to daily to get my inspiration fix - now I'm off to my sewing room to tidy it up for the great New Year of finishes I'm planning.

  160. I really love your blog and look forward to reading it every day. I have learnt so much about how to manage my stash and even ordered a custom build cutting table with eight drawers and at a height that is good for me to cut. It arrived a few days before Christmas and I was in love. Now I need the time to get organized and get back to work. Thanks for all of the inspiration. What a beautiful gift and I would love to win because I love that fabric. I am really looking forward to 2011 and everything that Stash Manicure will bring to its blog. Blessings for a Happy New Year. Sandra

  168. Oh, how fun!! A giveaway and a story! Hmmmm....now, what would I share. Well, how about telling you about my sisters and I, how we share the quilting love, how it began with an aunt on an Easter Sunday and how the quilting love has spilled onto the next generation. We are even plotting a 2011 monthly quilt "neighborhood" of houses, trees and people of all sizes. We will each make three blocks at a time, one to keep and two to share. Of course, that story would be fun to share "after" we are done!!! :) Hugs and Love, Madame Samm

I currently have an out of control/disorganized sewing room. I would like to use the ideas and inspirations from your blog to get it under control. I could submit pictures, etc of my ongoing progress throughout the year. I also love the idea of mug rugs...I haven't made one and I want to try!! Deb... A Chronically Clulttered Quilter

  187. Love the new look, Madame Samm! And the new direction - it certainly makes it easier to come up with a post! I would probably share (if you find it appealing) a tutorial for my Fractured Fibonacci pillow top, or for my Disappearing 9-Patch variation quilt, and I could also write about our quilt ministry, which has moved along by leaps and bounds since the first time I mentioned it in a post here. There's probably more posts in me, too.... You know you can call on me anytime you need me!

  195. Not sure how great of a guest blogger I'd be. I just started sewing and quilting, and I've been trying to build UP my stash, not manicure it down. :) But I love reading about everyone else's stashes to learn about what is useful and pitfalls in selecting items for your stash.

Maybe someday I'll have a room like Teresa (which I am pretty sure is about 1/3 the size of my entire apt, at least). ;)
